It’s time for New Hope Natural Media’s 32nd annual Expo West show co-located with Engredea and Nutracon held at the Anaheim Convention Center. Expo West along with its sister show Expo East, are the leading venues to see and sample all-natural and organic products. The Winter 2012 Fancy Food show in San Francisco wrapped up this past Tuesday afternoon; while the overall number of beverage companies was light for the third year in a row (approximately 40), the stalwarts seeking specialty channel retailers and distributors were present – sparkling juices and juice, gourmet sparkling and still waters, coconut waters, coffee and teas, and gourmet CSDs. As in previous years, exhibitors said they were pleased by the density of the foot traffic and “meetings” with large influential retailers and wholesalers walking the aisles.

The 74th biennial tradeshow for the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) took place from October 16-18 in Las Vegas. There were more than 30 non-alcoholic beverage companies present, all of whom were very excited to get their products in front of the 4,000+ attendees — particularly as wholesalers and independent beer distributors look to continue to diversify their NA portfolios.

While foot traffic was strong, the switch from the Javits Center in New York City (undergoing a major renovation), to Washington, D.C. continued the downward trend of exhibiting beverage companies relative to last summer’s show, which also yielded very low numbers.

The 30th anniversary of Natural Products Expo West took place March 11-14, 2010, at the Anaheim Convention Center, drawing crowds of more than 55,000 throughout the weekend. With over 130 beverage companies exhibiting, there were many opportunities to sample and report on new product launches and line extensions. The 2008 NACS Show took place at McCormick Place in Chicago from October 4-7, showcasing over 100 beverage companies and their brands. Energy Shots and other supplement-drink hybrids accounted for many of the new beverages at the show. Enhanced waters were another well-represented category.

The 2008 Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show, aka “The Show”, took place at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Feb. 26 and 27. Much more than just a beverage event, exhibits included everything from serving and drinking equipment to confetti and smoke machines, high-tech lighting and sound electronics, video games, pool tables, ID systems, ATMs, and drink chiller technology. The majority of the attendees were club/bar owners, restaurant and industry management, as well as distributors looking for new beverages to stock.
