Winner: Bionade
Because it’s been a slow, deliberate rollout, Bionade, from Germany, has yet to hit with the trendsetters over here, but chances are you’re going to start seeing it in the hippest restaurants and bars on both coasts by the end of the year. With an organic brewing process, a gorgeous longneck bottle and a set of highly original flavors, these brewmaster designed CSDs are refreshing, go well with food, and have a low caloric profile. Lots of potential here. On the designer CSD front, other solid entries came in from Boylan’s, with its juice-soda hybrid Mash, and from regional brand Double Cola, whose canned cane sugar throwback citrus brand Ski could show the Dew a thing or two.
