This is most likely part of Wingsounds, an internal music program at Red Bull. I know that back some time ago, 2002 or 2003, the concept of Red Bull building a recording studio was pitched to decision makers from Fuschl, Austria. It’s right in line with don’t sponsor a soccer team, buy one or don’t sponsor NASCAR, start a team. It’s essentially reverse engineering the 360 artist deal. The band starts out with a corporate partner vs. courting a brand partner after the fact. It will be interesting to see how this type of partnership will influence the creative universe and consumer perspective on authenticity of an artist. Red Bull, I’m sure, will partner in a credible under the radar way that isn’t overtly obvious to fans but still enables Red Bull to capitalize on the fan base of the artist/ band. I’ll will be fascinated to see how this plays out.
