BevBlog: Rockstar CEO’s real estate bargain

Drops, drips, and leaks from the beverage industry.

Looking for a real estate deal? Talk to Rockstar Energy – or at least its CEO, Russell Weiner.

Maybe it’s due to the flagging housing market. Maybe it’s due to the distribution deal Rockstar distributor Coca-Cola signed with Monster, but, either way, Weiner is selling his California home for the low, low discount price of just under $3 million.

Okay, you’re probably not going to find that kind of change by returning soda cans, but the Los Angeles Times reports that that price tag for the elevator-equipped 4,414-square-foot home just above the Sunset Strip fell by $2 million.

Interesting that his “must sell” price appeared only weeks after Coca-Cola announced its deal with Monster, but Weiner’s misfortune could be your gain.

If you’re the lucky millionaire bidder, you’ll get four bedrooms, four bathrooms, city views, a roof deck, a bridge to a pool and three fireplaces. If you’re real lucky, maybe Weiner will even throw in a palate of Rockstar.

    Matt,
I sure hope that your “fortunes” never change and that someone out there writes a condescending blog regarding your timing of divestment.
If anything I think this shows the intelligence of, if not his grasp of reality, that Russell has concerning not only current market conditions but that of his company and what it faces in the coming years.

What is the point of this blog? You appear to be gloating over his misfortune. Are you thrilled to see a man taking a big financial loss?

The large CSD manufactuers are gobbling up all the heavy hitters in the Energy, and Nutraceutical industry.

What are the smaller players left to do? Rockstar, along with Jolt,Powertrip,DNA,Spike,Cocaine, and many others, are left to fend for themselves with independent distributors.

I can’t blame Coke one bit for dropping Rockstar right on their derriere; and they deserve loosing the deal to Monster.

When I tried to do business with Rockstar, to call their office was the most insulting and unprofessional business conduct I have ever experienced with any firm that I have ever done business with.

A rude operator who isn’t suited to be a janitor, and a staff of flakes who don’t know how be professional, respectful or even communicate to actually accomplish tasks to “do” business.

The problems with management at any company start at the top and if Mr. Weiner is loosing his house as a result, then he’s getting what he deserves for his inability to conduct business in a proper and respectful manner.

Coke went to Rockstar first because they have good product recipes, they went to Monster second because they couldn’t do business with Rockstar.

And now you all know why.

Chris, this is factually incorrect. CCE renewed their agreement for another year. You can say whatever you want but the renewal occurred because Coke valued Rockstars sales and market share. It’s ok to be bitter and angry but not ok to distort the record.
