Big Red, the mystery solved...

I thought it tasted primarilly like rasberry or strawberry, others say "bubblegum", others say candy, or "artificial", and others say its a Cream Soda.

But I found the answer on the history section of the Big Red website...


"1937...Perfection Barber and Beauty Supply in Waco begins making flavoring extracts under the name Sun Tang. Inventors Grover Thomsen and R.H. Roark develop a unique red drink, Sun Tang Red Cream Soda. They change the company name to Perfection Co. Ltd. to be more in line with a flavoring extract business.

1939...Trademark is registered for Sun Tang Red Cream Soda."

1959...Sun Tang Red Creme soda becomes Sun Tang Big Red.From the horses mouth, Big Red is a Cream Soda.

It says "red cream soda" right on the can.

The question is, what flavours go into making a red cream soda.

I've always understood Cream Soda to mean primarily a vanilla flavored drink.

DP Yes, that seems to be an element in every cream soda. Usually the golden or clear ones are just vanilla. However, the colored ones tend to have additional flavors in the mix.

It says, above and below the "Since 1937" emblem...

"Big Red"..."Red Soda"

But regardless, we know now that it is indeed a Cream Soda drink.

here, it says creme soda on the diet boxes, but not on the regular...
