View Full Version : The best Ginger Ale?

06-03-2002, 07:28 PM
OK, I found Nature's Way Ginger Ale in the local Safeway. It's been 15 years since I've had it. So which is the best Ginger Ale? My picks:

1. Cock N' Bull
2. Nature's Way
3. Vernors(oops, edited this in!)
4. Fanta Ginger Ale
5. Most generics
6. Canada Dry
7. Stewart's Ginger Beer. Too spicy.

I like Bundaberg and Boylans. That's not to say they are the absolute best, they're just the ones I like. I'm not a huge gingerale fan though.

I would say
Pure Spring Ginger Ale

Where the hell is the Vernors'? Two X-mas's ago, Pepsi released a 12oz glass bottle in Michigan only. It was like that one Oasis song, "F***ing in Heaven." Or maybe that's Fatboy Slim or someone else... Someone hip, please help me...

what about Sprecher?

06-07-2002, 03:52 AM
Sprecher is good. And Reed's is very good; you have your choice of strengths. Cock N Bull is great; Barritt's is good, Boylans is a really nice pale dry ginger ale. Blenheim is perfectfor the extremities. There are, thankfully, so many great ginger ales out there!

In my world there is no such thing as a good tasting ginger ale.

Reed"s Ginger Ales are just a little too much for me. Their 'regular' Ginger Ale has enough ginger in it to make your taste buds just shut down, and their 'extra ginger' Ginger Ale is like having a mob beat you to death with ginger roots. I like ginger ale sometimes, but Reed's is way over the top with the ginger!

I like Reed's a LOT. *smiles* All their flavors are spicy and very refresfhing. Might just get me a bottle or two today. Stewart's Ginger Beer is good, too, the perfect combination of sweetness and spicyness. Vernor's is good, it's not too sweet and not too spicy, yet those two qualities are still there. For all-out sinus-clearing HEAT (not just spicyness) and a great taste to boot, I'll take a Blenheim's! *grins* OK, I've said my piece. The Doomite is OUT!

Like root beer it depends on your taste.... if you like spicy---

1. Jamacia's Finest
2. Blenheim Hot
3. Sioux City
4. Old Tyme
5. Natural Brew Outrageous
6. Blenheim ginger beer
7. Riggs & Forsythe

Not as hot
2.The Ginger People-- just back in production
4. Blenheim not as hot

I thought Ginger Ale was invented to be a delivery vehicle for Jack Daniels!

I was in West Virginia the other day, and came across Carver's ginger ale in a Food Lion.. Though I wasn't quite brave enough to buy it. It was distributed by Dixie Beverages.. and bottled by Northern Neck.

Anyone tried it?

06-17-2002, 11:51 PM
You should have tried it......yum

02-25-2006, 08:15 PM
I like Boylan's, Sioux City, Canada Dry Cranberry, and... what was that one made in South Carolina?...

02-25-2006, 08:25 PM
Northern Neck's pretty damn good. Only in cans though.

Tom I don't think Fatboy Slim is exactly hip these days, but yeah, it's him.

I haven't really tried a lot of ginger ales. I usually go for Canada Dry if I'm in the mood for ginger ale and I have a choice, but I'd be interested in trying some of these "spicy" ones.

EDIT: Oops...looks like I'm a little late responding to your query :D

Here in Mexico we have only two Ginger Ale sodas: Seagram's Ginger Ale from PBG and Canada Dry from Cadbury Schweppes.

02-26-2006, 12:40 PM
the best i've had is canada dry

Ale-8 is the best, no doubt about it. Well, probably because I have lived 15 minutes from the bottling plant my whole life, and I have been drinking Ale-8 my entire life lol.

03-06-2006, 01:07 AM
I like Ale-8 a lot. I also like Vernor's a lot. I would have to compare the two to decide which is my favorite though, and that I have never done.

My favourite ginger ale was Pure Spring Extra Dry, but it seems to have disappeared 10 years back or so (like the rest of the Pure Spring line)...it was bought out by Cadbury Schweppes (Canada Dry and Schweppes ginger ales).

I just got some diet Vernors and it is pretty good, spicier than I recall the regular being even.

I had this one kind about a month ago, i forgot what it was called but it was in this brown glass bottle and had a picture of a penguin on it. pretty darn spicy.

I tried Seagram's Ginger Ale, and it's good, IMO tastes like Mountain Dew...

My favorite is Schweppes Ginger Ale.
