View Full Version : New Jones Soda Halloween Edition
09-11-2006, 07:18 PM
I went to our local Target today and they had the Jones Soda Halloween Editions there. In 12 oz. bottles I picked up a 4-pack of "Monster Mojito Soda" and "Lemon Drop Dead Soda." Normally, I don't purchase their specialty holiday sodas, but these two sounded drinkable. They also had a "Creepy Cranberry Soda" but I'm not a fan of cranberry. In smaller cans they had the candy corn and ghoulish grape (?) but neither sounded appealing. I'll update once I taste them. smile.gif

My wife would like the Monster Mojito Soda. We will have to pick some up when in Target next

I'm glad to hear that they are in glass this year. If that is the case I think I'll pick some up! :D

in the small cans they also have "Spider Cider" and "Scary Berry Lemonade" (or something like that)

I don't readily have access a Target since I don't have a car. So much like last year, I have my mother on the lookout for these already.

Just a quick update - I tried the Monster Mojito and it was one of the better tasting Mojito flavored drinks I've tried - a nice blend of mint and lime - neither really overpowering the other and not too sweet. Ahhh - at last, a Jones Holiday Soda that's drinkable!

I wonder how it tastes with rum

Okay - another quick update. While I had high expectations for the "Lemon Drop Dead" soda after finishing off the "Monster Mojito" soda, it is with regret to report the "Lemon Drop Dead" soda is aptly named, as I felt like I could drop dead after drinking it. The initial flavor was okay, but the aftertaste - it was awful! I can't describe it, except to say that the aftertaste seemed to be the flavor of something completely inedible (like cardboard or paper). So Sad! :(

Here are some photos I took of the new canned beverages:

Jones Soda rocks! I won't try the candy corn one... because I don't like it anymore. I loved for a few years when I was a kid... but then it made me sick. :(

I agree with Jacksmom, avoid the Lemon Drop Dead soda at all costs.
Alternate names for it:
Old Vet Clinic
Unscented Floor Wax
Nasty Nursing Home

the spider cider was quite vile indeed.

Ten of us in the workplace soda tasting crew tried all the halloween flavors except for cranberry, whcih we had tried in last year's Holiday Pack. Great variation in likes/dislikes. Two people liked the Candy Corn enough to ask for a can, one wanted a bottle of the Mojito and one the Spider Cider. I thought the Gruesome Grape was better than the MF Grape they have in bottles, it had a "grapier" taste (the MF Grape tasted more like apple or pear juice than grape.) People thought the Lemon Drop Dead was OK, but did notice the underlying taste. Nobody was crazy about the Berried Alive.

i was at a different target today and they had the holiday pack. i was bummed they didnt have the x-mas 4-packs yet. but when checking out something caught my eye. a box looking like the holiday pack, but different colored. it seems jones has also released the 2006 dessert pack. this one contains 5 pie flavors (apple, banana creme, blueberry, cherry, and key lime). this one is also $9.99 and individually numbered.

That actually sounds good.

I work for target and we got two jones pallets, one with the holiday pack, the other with the dessert pack. I will definitely buy (and drink) a dessert pack. But the holiday pack, that gimmick has run its course. It does have antacid flavored pop...

Someone called me today to say they saw one of my photos on a holiday pack. I didn't even know yet. Ran out to the store and found some. It even tastes pretty good.

Is this a recent pic?

I took it last Christmas and uploaded it to their site shortly thereafter.

Actually I checked. I took it *before* Christmas. In the gallery it says I uploaded it December 10th of last year... to be specific!
