Anyone hear if the holiday spiced pepsi will be returning for the holiday season this year?

10-13-2005, 09:02 PM
I have been wondering the same thing. I really hope that they do!

10-13-2005, 09:20 PM
I don't...

10-14-2005, 01:39 AM
hopefully it will

How can you all like that stuff. It was like apple cider and pepsi mixed with more spices. YUCK!!!

10-15-2005, 01:30 AM
I've still got a few cans left from a 12-pack that I picked up back in May.

I was listening to my collection of Pepsi radio commercials the other day and the Holiday Spice one from last year came up - made me wonder the same thing, will it be back this year? Me, I thought it was "OK" - nothing great but not disgusting either.

11-05-2005, 08:35 PM

11-06-2005, 09:05 PM
Anyone know what spices were in Holiday Spice?

11-06-2005, 09:36 PM
Obviously "holiday spice" was in it duh. Aha :-P

11-06-2005, 09:41 PM

This is an innovative product. When I worked at Pepsi in marketing back in the early 90s, the best we could do was Crystal Pepsi. I hope it comes back although they need to do something special with it in terms of packaging. Putting 20oz bottles of Holiday Spice in the cooler to sit until spring is not a good idea. They should keep it in the supermarket channel and leverage displays with a good packaging and promotional concept.

Ok...I can see your point of view. Some good marketing and store level merchandising will help keep it going into the off holiday season.

IMO if Pepsi were to rework the flavor, bring it down a notch and up the sweetness a small bit, I bet consumers will really love it. I was one of those people (long time customer of Pepsi) that did not enjoy it. IMO as it stands now Holiday Pepsi appeals to more of your customers with very mature and "sophisticated" taste buds ( which is very cool). As you know it's mass appeal that makes a flavor or new product do well. Just my two cents.

The biggest problem this product faces is Pepsi's current focus against the diet portfolio. They will not invest behind this brand. Look at even "regular" Pepsi. This brand seems to be floundering right now as the spotlight is on diet sodas right now.

How 'bout if Pepsi forgets Holiday Spice, and just rolls out those little 10 oz glass bottles nationwide? Now, that would spice up the holidays....

Spice up Pepsi's coffers you mean - Let's see, at $28 a case, that's 7 bucks a 6 pack, that makes the 3.99 Coke glass 6 packs look like a bargain.

Now if they make them universally available, AND a bit more affordable, THAT would be a nice Xmas present....

All my reps and insiders are saying No. Pretty sad, it was innovative and pretty tasty.

Anyone have any recipe for anything that resembles Holiday Spice?

11-20-2005, 09:12 PM
I have some full cans left...

11-25-2005, 08:12 PM
Just cracked open a can for Thanksgiving Dinner and it tasted just fine. Still have two 12 packs left. It should get me through this year.

11-25-2005, 09:31 PM
Holiday Spice tasted like a slightly spicy Coke to me.

11-28-2005, 11:53 AM
in our area, it bombed. i remember when the spice first came out last year, Pepsi sent in a full pallet of twelve packs into all the stores in our lake area, and in each store, they didn't even sell half of a pallet...it sold real bad. and then Pepsi reps came in, and didn't want to pick the stuff up, so they were selling 12 packs for .99 cents...and they still weren't selling. Thankfully Coke never came out with anything like that.

though, i don't see why they didn't bring it back out for the holidays. just don't make too much of it.

I was told by our pepsi driver it died along withthe other flops! At that point a wow was all i had for him he seemed to be hateful about the flops must hate the extra fright on the truck.

12-07-2005, 06:39 PM
he was probably annoyed that he had to push all that holiday spice, change displays and shelfs and then watch it sit there.. and then deal with taking it off the displays and shelfs after it got outdated.

just my opinion on his reaction

That is such a bummer. I was counting the days until I could buy more Holiday Pepsi. I thought it was the best pop I ever tasted! Ah well, withdrawals for life, I guess... :(

Of course, no pop tastes the same since the disappearance of 16 oz glass bottles. Plastic and aluminum both flavor the drink. The only time it tastes good anymore is when I find a place with fountain Pepsi(and they mix it right). That is not easy down South, back home everyone had Pepsi. Here it is Coke-blech!

12-09-2005, 01:52 PM
Well, it's fair to say it is not coming out.

We're well into dec.

Shame, Holiday spice pepsi was quite nice. A good little kick went well with the cola taste.

Bravo for Pepsi for trying it. Perhaps one day we'll see it again.
