All we have here in cheyenne, is regular dew and diet dew. Code Red and Livewire left soon after Code Red got the new dew logo. And www.codered.com (http://www.codered.com) and www.live-wire.com (http://www.live-wire.com) are not a part of mountaindew.com. or Mountian Dew. Are these on their final leg, or are they just a product of the Pepsi company in general?

I dunno, Code Red and Livewire has yet to be seen in thier new label here in philly.
oh yea last fall code red has the new label cuase of a contest, but ever since has been the old label.
maybe MD realzies the 2 soda dont need their own websites?

i dont think they are on their last leg, they still both do pretty well - i'm thinking pepsi may not want to throw as much money into them anymore and focus more on regular dew & diet dew - which could have something to do with vault coming out??

I think Livewire would look pretty cool with the new MD logo. The livewire logo itself is awesome but just doesn't go well with the older MD logo. As for Code Red, I really don't care about it.

i'm not sure why they havent updated the logos - the only reason i can think of is that the bottlers have ALOT of packaging left over??? but man its been a long time since the new logo came out

Yeah I buy tons of livewire. It has been forever since the new logo came out. Hasn't it been close to a year? It seems like I saw it around March Madness of 2005, maybe not. If it is because the bottlers have tons of packaging left over, then Livewire and CR must not be selling too well. Who knows??

It came out here in April or May of 05 some of our packaging is the old logo with the new logo on the cans. I think its just a matter of runing through all the old fridgemates. Same goes with Sierra Mist, we have been getting new Point of Sale signing with the new logo but still have the old on the boxes and most times the cans.

From what I gather Code Red does well in some areas while being a real dog in others. I would agree that Pepsi is not gonna let it go for awhile but I do think that its going to slip further and further with a slow fade-out like SURGE or Vanilla Coke. Actually VC seems like it would be a good case study for Code Red both are from a similar launch date and both were very front-loaded. Still at its axing VC was doing quite a bit better than Code Red. Still Coke needed to clear out VC for BCVC while Code Red has no such restriction. Despite the fact that Code Red seems to be on its way out there is no doubt in my mind that it was a successfull extension for Pepsi which can't be said for all of them. Clearing out Code Red will also allow for a new extension- one that is more focused on current trends.

As long as they don't take away Diet Code Red I'll be a happy camper, take it away and I'll be furious.

I couldn't imagine getting furious because a soda was discontinued.

Disappointed, yes. Furious? No.

Life is too short. smile.gif
Sorry if I get personal for a moment.
Life for me is a struggle health wise.
Being able to hang out here is one of the true
pleasures I have. I try to look at things as positive as I can.

Loosing an A list soda pop is not a good thing.
I have learned to think positive. I loose one soda pop then I am open (cosmic spirit or luck) to find another favorite one. Good Karma does work at least for me. smile.gif

Today at my local 7-Eleven, they had Save $.20 coupons for Mountain Dew, which featured the new logos for Code Red, Diet Code Red, and LiveWire. I took a picture with my camera phone - it's blurry but it gets the point across. I'll post it later.

I tried to start a topic on the Mountain Dew ingredient change. It does not contain BVO(brominated vegi oil) anymore. This is what a close friend at the bottling plant in Worland, Wyoming told me.
