I stopped by an old gas station a couple weeks ago. It'd been closed for a while and all the windows smashed out, etc. I stuck my head to see if there was any soda stuff... this bottle was sitting on the counter..

Judging for the color of the liquid... I think it's from 2002 or 2003...

It looks pretty beat up. LOL But it is definitely something to keep!!

In fact my canadian Vanilla Coke from 2002 looks like that one... and I regret for not drinking it when it was fresh...

Good guess Ramon! The exp. date was 9-16-2002!

It's in really good shape, just dusty and sunk in from the CO2 escaping..

Behind this station, in the old garage, there were like 6 boxes of these old drinks "Flavorite".. I've never heard of this brand. I only got one bottle of each flavor.. left the others for someone else smile.gif

Thief...scoundrel.... :D

Is that an old 3 liter glass Pepsi bottle or a really old syrup pepsi bottle?

Haha.. funny Saint.

It's an old 2 liter ACL throwaway Pepsi bottle. Not very common. It held regular Pepsi, not syrup.

Flavorite is the name of grocery wholesaler Supervalu's private label products. The sodas are now named Super Chill.

Could you give a quick review of Supervalu's private lable, please.
Would you rank them as a better priviate lable brand then other P.L.B's.

The reason I ask is that Jewel Foods in the Chicago area was brought by Supervalu. As of yet they have continued to sell the Jewel brand soda pop, which IMO are very much better than any P.L.B. I have tasted. Some time down the road I fear Supervalu will sell their P.L.B. I'm hoping that the quality will be the same or better.

If they are keeping the Jewel name they probably will keep the Jewel product. Supervalu has other private label product that they supply to supermarkets. You may be familiar with Cub Foods, they are Supervalu's. Supervalu also supplies some IGAs around here. www.supervalu.com shows other chains they own and those chains have continued to use that stores name on the private label product.

From a few years back, I tried a few Cub brand soda pops.
I was not impressed.:(

Albertson's redid their soda line across all their chains a few years ago, introducing the Max line of sodas. The stuff here is still made at the same plant, and is probably the same formula. I remember them having a 2 liter Max vanilla cola, which disappeared pretty quickly.

Yeah, I beleive we still have Max Cola and Max Diet Cola which are ok but not great. (I drank some Max Diet Cola a few years ago.) The other Jewel soda pops are not Max. The Black Cherry,Cherry Cola,Cream Soda,Red Pop,Root beer and orange (all HFCS) are pretty darn good for $2 a 12pk.
