View Full Version : Is Mello yello being discontiued

11-12-2006, 10:17 PM
I could not find mello yello at the store
figuring Vault is taking its place. Here in
Ohio Wendys dropped mello yello and serving
Vault in its place.Mello yello has been around for years.
In Ohio I never saw Cherry Mello Yello.I was
a Surge fan and was mad when it got discontinued.
I do not get hooked on flavor extesions because
its come and go.Thats why I stick to regular

When Cherry was out, I found it in the Cincinnati area.. CCE produced it there.

I do not get hooked on flavor extesions because
its come and go.I need to adopt that. I miss Red Fusion, I miss a half dozen other drinks, though not as badly.

It's like getting jilted over and over again in bad relationships! smile.gif

I thought the same thing. I called the coke one eight hundred number and they told me mello-yello is one of there best sodas in the southeast. If you want it all the time i guess you should move to nc or va. I wish that i could. its better there anyway.

Or even Tennessee. Mello Yello was very abundant from CCE in eastern TN. 2 liters, 12 pack cans, 24 pack cans, 16.9oz 6pks, 20oz...

Mello Yello is still easy to find around here, some C-stores have two tiered pricing, 1.29-1.39 for the big brands, .99 for the second tiers and all American bottling products. Vault is in the higher tier, Mello Yello is .99 alongside fanta, pibb, barqs, tropicana twister, mug, 7up, sunkist, a&w, etc.

It's still in most places here in Iowa (thankfully).

Chi Town has MY fridge packs at most of the chain grocery stores. I rarely if ever see it on the fountains.

There still in Watertown, along with C2 for anyone intrested. Very rare tho. I can tell you some of the stores where I have seen them if intrested.

Vault 24 packs are just as rare.

There is still lots of Mello Yello in KY. I don't think it will ever go away in the southeast, no matter how well Vault sells because it just seems to be so popular down here.

It's still here in KC, hell Subway has it at their fountain.

I am here in Dayton, Ohio and spoke with a coke distributor at a Meijer and he said that they stopped discontinued Mello Yello and Mr Pibb (Pibb Extra) on the First of the year. I have noticed that the big chain grocery stores do not have it but was able to find it at Krogers, but the dates were all for 10/15/07. Not sure if that is the last shipment or not. I also found 20oz at Speedway's but they were expired (1/27/07). I have found it in fountain form at a White Castle. If anyone can confirm or deny that Mello Yello is going away (at least in Dayton) it would be greatly appreciated.

I was in Wegmans grocery store last night and one thing I noticed was Mello Yello 12 packs were gone. This was the only place I knew of for miles that had MY.

I work for Coke here in Dayton and hadnt heard this. It hasnt sold well lately though so it does not come in to my stores very often. We ran some good ads this past week and i recieved both Pibb Xtra and Mello Yellow though so at least for now i know it os still available. The stores on my route only carry 12 packs though.

The Chipotle restaraunt on Wilmington Pike has Pibb on the fountain as well.

Mello Yello is gone from the Quik Trip and the Walmarts around here now.

You can thank me for that. When I moved to Iowa back in 1999 you couldn't get Mello Yello in most of the state. I called every bottler within 2 states each direction to find a source. Shortly afterwards the bottlers in Iowa started selling it again.

Oh and to clarify, when I moved there it was available only in bag in a box for fountain use at a restaurant. To me a drink isn't available unless I can get it in 6 packs, 12 packs, or 24 packs of cans at a reasonable price.

I was driving back and forth from Tennessee to Iowa a couple of times per year so I was just bringing 12 packs back from TN to IA when I did.

Mello Yello is still pretty abundant here in Central/Eastern KY. I can still get it in 12 packs, 2 liters, 20 oz. for 99 cents. I love the stuff, and I am lucky to live in a place that still sells it.

can mellow yellow be found in virginia area in 20 0z?

06-29-2007, 07:31 AM
I can't specifically say yes on 20oz, but it is still being sold in a small portion of Virginia, at least from Courtland to Emporia along US 58, maybe further depending on how far CCBCC's Sundrop territory goes.

Oh, and there are no w's in the name.

oops, last night i was doing a little drinking of my own, , that was me in this morning

FWIW, we have 24 packs of Mellow Yellow and most other Coke products at Walmart 2 for $10 until July 4th. That's like $2.50 a 12 pack.

I saw:

Mello Yello
Diet Coke
Coke Zero
Caffeine Free Diet Coke
some tea thing I didn't pay attention to
maybe some others

I specifically looked for and didn't see the cheap price on:
Coke Zero Cherry
Diet Coke Plus

They had them but only in 12 packs not 24 packs.

hmmm I don't think I've ever seen a 24-pack of mello yello around here. My mom went to walmart today and she said that all she saw of the 24 packs was coke, diet coke, and sprite..no vault or mello yello or anything. 2-$10 is a good deal for 24 packs though...I will have to go look tomorrow and see what I can find.
