Are they going to release the regular version in the Metro-Detroit area? I really want to try it, but they only have the diet version.

I don't think they will. It was mostly an optional drink, so most bottlers will think that it won't sell very much so they choose not to make it. I do have it in my area though and to tell the truth, it doesn't taste a whole lot different from regular Dr Pepper.

Here in Missouri, OZ can't keep it on the shelves fast enough.

ABC is already *running* regular CVDP for some of its markets so its not a big deal to release it elsewhere. There's a lot of talk that some bottlers who released the diet have now picked up the regular version.

Terry, do you keep moving or something? I thought you were somewhere else in the plains in the beginning, then in California, and now you're in Missouri. Or was that just travel?

02-20-2005, 10:30 PM
hey man - coca cola will not be producing the regular version. all you have to do is travel to brighton to get it. there it is handled by dr pepper/7Up and they are producing it.

it's delicious!

i don't know the exact dr pepper boundary, so if not brighton, then definitely howell, fowlerville. i know that ann arbor and chelsea are both coke run for the dr pepper, so anywhere past chelsea along I-94.

It's probably based on county lines. So, Brighton would probably work, since it's in Livingston County.

Monroe Country is DPSUBG territory as well.

Monroe Country is DPSUBG territory as well. Hi I have seen and bought regular Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper in Thurston County, which is served by Pepsi CPG. Pierce, King, Snohomish is PBG, only diet. However, going over the Narrows bridge to Key Pensnusla, it's back to code TT (CPG) like Thurston County. Looks like the regular Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper serves in certain CPG areas because I see a code TT in much of SW Washington. Brian

Can you tell me which store in Brighton has it? Its a little outta the way for me, I just want to make sure thats its not a complete waste of time.

I buy like 2 20 oz. bottles every day. It's good stuff, but not really worth a lot of trouble. It just tastes like regular Dr Pepper, with a little bit more cherry. You can't even taste the vanilla unless you have good taste buds.

I'm in northern Michigan and there's plenty of it up here. Tried both diet and reg. as soon as I saw them ... and was somewhat disappointed. Was hoping the flavor would be stronger.

Still, it's different and unique and has caffeine, so I'll keep buying it ... especially after I can't get Holiday Spice Pepsi.

Is there anywhere ****** I can purchase the regular version of CVDP? Maybe eBay? LOL

I went to the party store on 13 mile and orchard lake (south west corner) and they guy working at 9pm said that his friend who owns a party store in Detroit sells the regular version.

I was very disapointed with the Diet version I bought at 7-11.

I never drink diet , but since they only had diet cvdp, i attempted to drink it. I had to throw it away it was so nasty. i heard pizza hut also as cvdp in the canton area?

Anyone know where I can buy regular cvdp in the Farmington Hills are or ******?

hey, you can come up to brighton to buy it. coke bottles dr pepper in detroit area, but loses the contract in brighton. at least i think it's brighton, it might be a little further. just take 96 up to lansing and don't stop till brighton. then stop at each exit, eventually you'll find some. there's a number of grocery stores in howell if brighton doesn't have it, but all dr pepper products are on sale at meijer this week, and there's one in both brighton and howell. happy hunting fellow michiganian

Excellent! Guess I will have to take my detour today. Luckily I can just hop on 23 to get back home. Thanks for letting me know about this!

gregmech, Pepsiamericas introduced both diet and regular. Toledo would be the closest. Most bottlers will intro regular this spring/summer as an in-out.

Thanks everyone!

Finally tried it. Tastes decent. It does have that old drugstore soda fountain tste to it.

Anyone know what the "future flavors" will be? The press release stated that CVDP was the "first" in a "series" of future "soda fountain favorites." What flavors should we be expecting?

02-26-2005, 10:24 AM
I drove down to Toledo yesterday and grabbed a few cases. It's alright much better then the diet. It's slotted everywhere down there. Seen it every gas station as well as Kroger's and Meijer's.

02-26-2005, 12:03 PM
now don't turn those cans back for deposit...

02-26-2005, 02:28 PM
gotta pay for gas somehow ;)

02-27-2005, 07:33 AM
I picked up three 12 packs of 12oz cans and a 20 oz. plastic bottle of CVDP at the Meijer in Brighton. It was $3.00 plus $1.20 deposit for each 12 pack, and $1.19 for the 20 oz.

Regular CVDP taste a zillion times better than the diet, which in undrinkable in my opinion.

I can't really tell the difference between CVDP and regular DP.

The original DP already had cherry and vanilla in it. I can taste a slight cherry tatse, but the vanilla is the same as the regular DP.

In any event, i was kinda disappointed. I was hopeing CVDP would have 100% more vanilla flavor added.

CVDP is more smooth and mellow then original DP. I guess thats why the call it "fountain classic."

I won't go out of my way to buy more when my supply runs out unless they dump a lot more vanilla flaver into it.

My brother tells me they have CDVP at the pizza hut in Bellville by the GM plant (not Canton as I stated earlier).

I miss my non-diet raspberry cream soda from faygo, and the orginal crush cream soda from the early 1980's.

On a side note, I'm mighty glad I don't live anywhere near a deposit state.

03-01-2005, 12:21 AM
on your side note, i'm glad i don't live in a slummy state that can't pick up after itself.

I'm a little confused too. An explanation might be nice.

I'm not defending this place though. Maryland isn't a prize by any means.

the bottle law is the best thing that's happened to michigan in the last 30 years

03-02-2005, 07:39 PM
The bottle law is great. We may have other problems around here but trash along the side ofthe roads like you see elsewhere is non-existent.

DIET Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper is a blander, slightly sweeter version. After the first taste, the cherry and vanilla are almost undetectable. It's nothing like a fountain drink with flavors added. I don't know who'd want to add both cherry and vanilla anyway.
It's inferior, and it's too close to the original to bother with. Brought to you thanks to the same tasters who liked "New Coke"?

03-09-2005, 07:34 PM
People must like the taste as the early IRI and Nielsen numbers are off the charts for Dr Pepper.

03-11-2005, 10:48 PM
i'm hearing everywhere that this stuff is flying off the shelves.

03-12-2005, 04:41 PM
I found the regular version here in Minnesota. It does not taste much different other than smoother taste to it.

03-14-2005, 07:04 AM
Hmmm... That must mean those Dr. Pepper representatives who were at my school's campus giving away free soda lied. They told me there is no Regular Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper.

03-15-2005, 09:26 PM
I havent tasted it yet...seems like too many flavors for one drink.

03-16-2005, 12:44 AM
they may not have lied.. they just may have not known there is a regular version. I talk to a lot of people who are out of the loop on new products. Hell, I even tell the Pepsi guys things that Pepsi is coming out with, that they don't know about! lol.

03-21-2005, 11:47 AM
Well Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper has finaly made it to Boulder Colorado!

I picked up a 12 pack at King Soopers this morning. The had an end of an aisle display, and they were on sale for 4/11. 2 litres we're also there as well.

Very happy!

My sister said she found the regular down in southern west virginia where she is going to school, We don't have it here in jefferson county WV though.

04-09-2005, 04:48 AM
It's too syrupy and heavy for my taste. Not crisp and clean enough. It needs to be more well-defined.

04-10-2005, 05:03 PM
I finally found some at a Barnhardts supermarket in Inwood WV on saturday. I was dissapointed in it. I thought the flavor should have been stronger. It was too week.

04-11-2005, 01:05 AM
I found some cherry vanilla dr pepper (non-diet) in the 20oz plastic bottle at the Shell gas station on the north-west corner of 12 Mile/Halstead in Farmington Hills. I thought CVDP wouldn't be distributed in metro-detroit? Still the same icky taste tongue.gif

i bet they brought it in themselves. arabs that run those gas stations tend to buy their pop, chips, candy, cigarrettes from sometimes unscrupulous wholesalers

04-13-2005, 03:58 AM
There are new owners of that Shell gas station as of the first of this month. My starbucks vanilla frap sky rocketed from 1.39 to 1.99 :(

04-26-2005, 02:35 PM
teamtitan - where can i find cvdp near scranton? this is for a friend...

05-07-2005, 06:31 PM
I'm buying it with some regularity now and still agree, not enough cherry or vanilla taste. Still, it's a little different than anything else out there, so I buy it.

05-09-2005, 06:48 PM
I tried it, and it tastes good!, tastes like regular Dr. Pepper but very creamy.

05-09-2005, 07:07 PM
I agree, Not enough cherry or vanilla taste. How much longer will it be around?
