"Welcome to the Coke side of life"

This will be a global ad.

Awful. Just Awful. It's a slogan the will soon be out of date, if it isn't already.
All I can think of is that Monty Python song from "Life of Brian" "Bright side of life"

I mean they throw millions of dollars to create such a slogan, and this is the best one they believe will help the slide of their flagship brand.

My two cents.

"Welcome to the Coke side of life" will have the same amount of success as CokeII. This has to be one of the lamest slogans any global company has developed in a long, long time.

"Coke is the real thing or adds life"???? is not only classic, it sounds so good to one's ears. smile.gif

Global? OH NO! Coke, please don't take away the successful latin american "Toma lo bueno" campaign!

I prefer thousand times the "toma lo bueno" campaign, than that "Welcome to the Coke side of life" campaign... "Bienvenido al lado Coca-Cola de la vida"?... sounds plain!

this is pretty bad.
and odd since cherry coke is becoming coca-cola cherry and vanilla coke coca-cola black cherry vanilla.
so they are going to use the coke name for the slogan, but have all packaging say coca-cola. good thinking.

Coca-Cola enjoy - Coca-Cola... VÃ*vela (http://www.coca-colamexico.com.mx/share/jingles/jing_html16.swf)

Real - De verdad (http://www.coca-colamexico.com.mx/share/jingles/jing_html18.swf)

Here in Mex, Toma lo bueno doesn't have jingle, but here are the commercials:

I forgot to tell you, once the jingle is completely loaded, click on the speaker...

Translation of the first Toma lo bueno ad:
ANNCR: There's different ways to see life... let's see...
GIRL: Oh, please don't insist, I will never go out with you, I have a boyfriend that is a darling: plays tennis, practices surfing, plus I have to go, we're leaving, and you don't fit in the car, just me and my three friends, by the way, I love the flower but, take it, I return it to you, bye, I'll go to the party!, and you... you're not invited...
ANNCR: Wait!, wait!, it should be like this:
GIRL: Oh ...(fast forwarding sound).. lovely... we're leaving...you,... me and my three friends, ...I love...the party!
ANNCR: Toma lo bueno, Coca-Cola
FAST ANNCR: Play Sports

Translation of the 2nd Toma lo bueno ad:
ANNCR: There's different ways to see life... let's see...
MOM: I told you thousand times!, you have to study, you won't go out to play soccer anymore, I will send you to a boarding school!, and this time you won't bother me in all the week!
ANNCR: Wait!, wait!, it should be like this:
MOM: I told you..(FF sound)..you won't go to...school...in all the week!
ANNCR: Toma lo bueno, Coca-Cola
FAST ANNCR: Play Sports

MrR,
I think I love you.....LOL (My warped sense of humor from just waking up and reading your above post. LMAO)

Oh my do these adds work? Here in the States I would guess they might work during the daily soap opera telecasts. They would not work so well during the NFL football games. LOL We tend to like our adds a bit more forward sex wise. LOL

I think they should bring back the slogan "Things Go Better With Coca-Cola, Things Go Better With Coke!" They could modernize tastefully with some big name groups (singers), and update the "Things" to 2006 things. Or better yet have the first half of the commercial made out of old retro commercials while the end is updated.

IMO, this campaign of Toma lo bueno I like it, It's completely different of what I've seen of Coke advertising.

About my last post, sorry I haven't explain the ads, the first one is about a girl talking to a boy, she dumps him telling him that she will go to a party with three friends (girls) and not with him, but after the girl negative speech to the boy, comes the "positive version" where the boy goes with the four girls to the party. And the second one is about a mother who can't afford her lazy son, and tells him she will punish him sending him to a boarding school, but in the "possitive version" the mom says: you won't go to school in all the week!".

BTW, recently the news said that Jack White and his band "The White Stripes" composed and recorded a song for Coca-Cola...

Exclusive - White Stripes singer confirms Coke ad Jack White to pen tune for the soft drink, White Stripes singer Jack White has finally confirmed he's done a coke ad - and said he's done it to get a message of love out to the world.

Jack had been approached earlier in the year to do the advert but officials were unable to deny or confirm if it was taking place at the time.

Speaking backstage in Paris on their European tour the singer confirmed that he has recorded a brand new, currently untitled track for the advert.

He told NME.COM: "I've been offered the opportunity to write a song in a way which interests me as a songwriter. I certainly wouldn't want a song that I'd already written to be used on a commercial. That seems strange.

"But to be asked to write something particular along one theme of love in a worldwide form that I'm not really used to appealed to me. I've written a song and I wrote it really quickly and it's an interesting commercial that's been made. I was inspired by the commercial."

The broadcast date for the advert is yet to be confirmed.

sorry but "Real", and "Make It Real" were not catchy slogans at all! the ads were dull and had nothing catchy about them. i'm sure the next slogan will be the same.

it seems jingles are not pushed like they used to be and when there is music its mostly of songs that have been on the radio.

IMO, I like them, one of the commercials I liked was the one of Tito, the liter of Coke and the empanada, that was really funny dude! The other one of P. Cruz burping after drinking quickly an 8 oz. Coke, that was funny too! And the one of the Arquettes (http://www.bc-p.com/tv/coketv2.html), cool too!

In the other side, the "de verdad" ads were not good and some of them really really silly, here are some ads from the "de verdad" campaign (the mexican version of Real)

Stomach Talking (http://www.femsa.com/videos/campanas2003/coca02.mpg) in a family dinner, a guy makes a toast to his mom, but his stomach says: "make an applause with one hand and with the other one serve Coke!" DUH! that's so dumb, WHEN YOU'RE GONNA APPLAUSE WITH ONE HAND?!
Party (http://www.femsa.com/videos/campanas2003/coca04.mpg) a guy talking in one meter of distance with a girl in a night club, bad communication...
The last Coke (http://www.femsa.com/videos/campanas2003/coca08.mpg) a guy see in the fridge only one Coke, and begins to dream that there's only one Coke in all the world... that will never neeeever happen..

But in this campaign there were good commercials too:
Leaving a mark in my life (http://www.femsa.com/videos/campanas2003/coca01.mpg) the song is awesome!
Let's make team, brother! (http://www.femsa.com/videos/campanas2003/coca03.mpg) a guy asks another guy to help him to flirt a hot girl.
You and me together (http://www.femsa.com/videos/campanas2003/coca06.mpg) AWWWW
I'm with you (http://www.femsa.com/videos/campanas2003/coca05.mpg) Double AWWWW
My team (http://www.femsa.com/videos/campanas2003/coca07.mpg) Pink! Pink! pass me the ball!

I have this commercial so deeply in my mind, and I remember exactly the year: 1996... I remember that in the satellite TV we used to have, I was watching the opening ceremony of the olympic games in Atlanta on NBC, I was waiting anxiously to see the first commercial break to see a Coke ad, and here it goes, the first commercial that appeared was from Coca-Cola: a bunch of asian kids playing with a red ball some kind of cricket or something like that, with different landscapes, with some kind of indian or arabian music as background music, in the end of the commercial a guy drinks a Coke and the ball converts into the typical "Always Coca-Cola" red disk icon, with the amazing slogan: "For the fans". I still remember it in my mind... and I still have it in a videocassette... but in Beta format, Damm!

That's why I think that the new campaign is going to be a kick _____ campaign!

I saw in the news sites that Coca-Cola will completely start the "Coke side of life" campaign with new ads during the NCAA Final Four on CBS this weekend and during A.I. on Fox, in fact already started yesterday during a presentation in NY...

While here in Mexico, there's no sight of new campaign, "toma lo bueno" is being reinforced with new ads and promotions for the 2006 Soccer World Cup, so still there's "toma lo bueno" for awhile smile.gif

Just my two cents. I drink Coke brands because they are good. Coca Cola is making money in spite of themselves. Their concept of "Touchy Feely" commercials (a few are ok) for the most part miss the mark IMO. These kinds of add are very difficult to pull off.

Coca Cola needs to rethink it's philosophy regarding their add campaigns. IMO

And right now Coke is putting away that "touchy feely" commercials for more creative and funny ads. One of the recent ads I like is the one for American Idol with this phrase: "Teach the world to sing... Please" ...LMAO :D (Click here to see it) (http://mfile.akamai.com/332/wmv/cocacola.download.akamai.com/332/announce/_media/TV/us_KOCL60C4_engl_300.asx) The "Toma lo bueno" commercials are funny too! for example the ad called "A smile can do everything" (Click here to see it) (http://mfile.akamai.com/332/wmv/cocacola.download.akamai.com/332/announce/_media/TV/us_KOCL6391_span_300.asx) or "Rivalries" (Click here to see it) (http://mfile.akamai.com/332/wmv/cocacola.download.akamai.com/332/announce/_media/TV/us_KOCL6397_span_300.asx) they're awesome!

And sorry CStoreCatMan, some Pepsi ads, I have to admit it, are funny, IMO like the one of P.Diddy and the Diet Pepsi Truck... but for example the Super Bowl ads featuring the brainless pop star they're not funny nor creative, and the harassing-Coke commercials... not funny neither, boring and insulting...

the slogan doesn't have any "umph."

and my prediction is that it will soon join the ash heap that is coca-cola's advertising for the last decade.

the last campaign i can remember is "always coca-cola" which had that upbeat song. i even heard it at a club back in the day.
