Has anyone noticed the "new" reformulated "natural" 7-UP? It has new graphics and claims to be "natural". I picked up a 12 pack to check the ingrediants hoping to see the word sucrose or sugar. No deal, still hfcs. They just added the word natural to all the ingrediants including the preservatives. What gives?

I can't wait to find out either. I will have to look on the Cyber highway. Maybe one of our 7up associates can give us the scoop.

How did it taste?

I did'nt buy any because I still had a few cans of the other left. I usually only drink 7-UP when I am feeling a bit under the weather. The ingrediant label looked like a joke.

Wow...sounds like DPSU is really desperate. They only just reformulated this stuff back in 1998. And does this mean that Diet 7 Up is going to be redone yet again? Sheesh.

heyy, picture 1 in your photo album thingy is odd, i diddnt know that berries and cream would still be in a old style 12 pack... odd and to the 7-up, i just got back from woodmans and there was none of this stuff

It's very cool to see 7up take a step in the right direction. I will always dig the original. This new natural sounds awesome. This is what many of us have wanted, a nice strong lemon lime soda mass market soda pop(I have not tried it yet but I so pumped). I bet Sprite is a little nervous. Thanks so much for the heads up.

Man there are so many new things to try and so many rollout sales to raid. LOL Hot Dog the soda pop industry is cooking. smile.gif

i saw a new label/packaging on 7up, but it appeared to be exactly the same as the previous 7up; as I believe its always used natural flavoring.. its just making a big deal about it now.. shouldnt taste any different, but I could be wrong.

I think they also did a reformulation when the current logo came out to make it more "Sprite-like"- good brand that has lost alot of direction

I thought 7-up's last reformulation in 98 was poor, I liked it better before. So I wouldn't be surprised if this new tweak is another step downwards. Just like diet 7-up - I've gotten so I can tolerate it, but the apspartame-sweetened diet Sprite is what I buy when I buy cans. I' still buy plastic 1/2 liter 6-packs of Diet 7-Up which work out better for me for what I take to work, but if Diet Sprite was available in that package I'd choose that instead.

Here's those pics, by the way (tip: you can't put a page link with an IMG code, you have to open that page first, right-click/Properties, then copy the URL of the jpg, then use that for the IMG)

natural potassium citrate? natural citric acid? how the heck can acids and chemicals be natural?

how does 7UP sell these days?

there was a time where it was THE #1 lemon-lime drink, right? before sprite?

it seems to have lost its way in the 80s, during the cola wars.

i think the "all natural" route is a step in the right direction though. it sets itself apart from sprite.

sprite tends to appeal to a younger crowd, and 7UP, to me, to a more mature crowd. so, "all natural" might also appeal to them as well.

i don't really like lemon-lime drinks, so, i don't really have a horse in this race. smile.gif

Citric acid exists in a variety of fruits and vegetables.

You haven't seen the "Make 7UP yours" commercials with the dude from MadTV on them, or the 7UP Plus with both of the Desperate Housewives on them?

phillip morris bought 7up and really that's when it went downhill vs. sprite. oddly enough, phillip morris managed to let miller brewing go straight to the dump. only now that they don't have a controlling interest in miller, let alone a marketing say, has miller seen a slight resurgence.

7UP's decline began in the early 80s when KO bottlers were told to give up their secondary affiliations with the product in favor of Sprite, and worsened in the late 90s when PEP followed suit.

However, I agree that Big MO's era at 7UP was poorly done.

I tried some yesterday. I still don't like it. Also, the ingredients list doesn't seem natural to me. Am I just stupid?
