Does anyone out there know anything about a soft drink called Lift? My grandmother used to buy this drink in a country store near Denton, NC in the early 1970s. The same store also sold the drink from an RC machine, but by the mid 70s, it had disappeared (replaced in the machine by Upper 10).
If I remember correctly, it had a taste similar to Mountain Dew, and you could see bits of citrus pulp in the bottom of the bottles.
I've bought a couple of old Lift bottles and a bottle cap from an antique shop, and the bottle cap says "Bottled by Pee Dee Bottling Company, Inc., Hamlet, NC."
Whenever I do an internet search on this product, all I find is information about a product that Coca Cola makes in Australia, and I don't think that it's the same "Golden Citrus Cola" that I remember from my childhood.

An interesting story about the PDBC. The person who wrote it worked there, perhaps he could shed some light on what lift was.

I exchanged emails with the guy listed in the link above. He said that he did work at Pee Dee Bottling, but he doesn't remember Lift.
The bottle doesn't say anything about RC Cola. (I believe that Royal Crown bottled a citrus drink called Kick, though.) All the bottles say is "Lift The Golden Citrus Cola." One is dated '66 and the other is dated '68.
The bottle cap lists the bottling company, the yellow on green "Lift" logo, and the ingredients: carbonated water, sugar, natural flavors, citric acid, sodium benzoate, sodium citrate, brominated vegtable oil, gum acacia, and Yellow No. 5.
(Hmmm. No caffeine like Sun Drop, Mountain Dew, and Kick.)
I do know that a drink called Lift (with an airplane on the bottle) was bottled in PA in the 1940's, but I don't know if it's related to the "citrus cola" Lift or not.
Thanks for the help.

There was this Lift which I believe was bottled by Vernor's in Michigan. At least the 2 calorie version I have had was. Could have been bottled elsewhere too.
