San Marcos National Fair 2006 is coming...

Here in Aguascalientes, we'll start to celebrate the 2006 San Marcos National Fair, that begins next saturday, have you heard of this fair before?...

This fair has attractions like an amusement park, commercial pavillions, cattle dealer conventions, night clubs, restaurants, bullfights, rooster fights, casino, etc.

One of the most famous icons of our San Marcos Fair is the Monumental Bullfight Plaza:

My favorite part of this fair was the commercial pavillions, specially the Coca-Cola pavillion!, since I was a kid, the Coca-Cola pavillion was my favorite place to go... You could see a tiny Coke factory every year and see how Coke in glass bottles is made, also you could bought a lot of Coke stuff... like Coca-Cola t-shirts or sweatshirts, kitchen supplies like trays or coasters, school supplies like pencils, pens or erasers, and tiny Coke, Fanta and Sprite glass bottles, they were my favorite toys when I was a kid! every year, Coca-Cola took a different theme for the design of its pavillion...

Unfortunately, in 2005 there wasn't Coke pavillion, because the governor of Aguascalientes modified the structure of the SM Fair and now the spaces for installing the pavillions are really small... so the Coca-Cola local bottler decided to not install the pavillion... and surely they won't this year neither... :( but anyway... surely I'll see a lot of Coca-Cola advertising! :D

There's also stands of Corona, Miller Genuine Draft and Sol Beer... but unfortunately one bad thing about this fair, is that now is recognized as "the biggest TAVERN of the world" because a lot of visitors abuse of the alcohol consumption... :(

But anyway... if you come to Aguascalientes between April 15 and May 13, visit the San Marcos Fair... it's awesome! :D

In the picture there seems to be a case with alot of glass bottles in it, what are they?

Is a little vitrine with all the products of The Coca-Cola Company in that time, in all their sizes: Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Light, Sprite, Sprite Light(Now Sprite 0), Fanta, Fresca, Manzana Lift, Delaware Punch, Senzao, Ciel, Ciel Mineralizada and packets of the now discontinued Kin Light... (in that time, there wasn't Powerade or Nestea in Aguascalientes)...

In the 2002 Coca-Cola pavillion... you could see the history of the FIFA World Cup... there was also a computer where you could see a multimedia program about the 75 years of Coca-Cola in Mexico... you could buy Coke stuff... and also you could buy plastic cups full of fountain Coke or frozen Coke! I've been to San Marcos in Jaliscos. They have a 2 week festival around this time each year...bull fights and all. I don't know if it is connected or not, but one of the best 2 weeks I have ever spent.

Mmm... nope...is completely different... this fair I'm talking about is in the state of Aguascalientes... but thanks for sharing your great experience in the San Marcos, Jalisco fair :D It's good to know you had a great time in Mexico!
