View Full Version : Interesting acquisition

Today I was given the following:

One wooden Coca-Cola crate (no dividers) with the following:

3 8 pack boxes
23 16oz 2-way bottles (I was wrong, one is missing!)

8 with screw on caps
two with about 3-4 inches of soda in them!

Any idea of the age of these bottles? I know they gotta be pretty old, cause the caps say:

Delaware Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Salisbury MD.

DCCBC was the bottling operations that were owned by Miami Coca-Cola in eastern MD and Delaware. The plant I work in is also a former DCCBC plant, and some of our stuff is still addressed to DCCBC!

DCCBC was acquired by Mid-Atlantic Coca-Cola, which was acquired by CCE, first becoming part of the Capitol Division, then the Mid-Atlantic Division.

The whole thing is pretty dusty, or I'd take some pictures.

The bottles should have a year code on the bottom. As far as the crate it could have been made in 1890 or 1970 no real way to tell other than maybe by what year they stopped/started putting dividers in them.

I thought you were describing some bizarre Coca Cola promotion. LOL I bet the crate will either have a good collector's value or make a cool coffee like table. smile.gif

The bottles are from 1975. The date is actually on the side of the bottle, near the bottom.

I really don't want to bring them inside, so I will snap a picture of them outside tomorrow before I put them in storage.

Being that it was probably opened 30 years ago he might not be able to "let us know how it was" LOL maybe his wife/ GF could post his obit for us...

"fusion was a good man. He loved his soda and his friends at bevnet, in fact he loved them so much that it finally killed him because he couldn't let his board mates down. He just HAD to try that damn glass bottled soda"

Here's a question. ( Not that we have the money to pay :D , so put the bottle down) but would you drink what was in that bottle for say, $10k? If not, $100k?
