View Full Version : What is the Best Orange Drink?

Sunkist? Faygo? Nehi? Crush?
You be da judge!
I pick Crush.

It USED to be Patio, but that's long gone. I have to give the prize to Boylan's. Tough to find, though.
In that list, Nehi has a slight edge.

Without a doubt, Suncrest with Pure Cane Sugar from Dublin.
Orange Crush isn't bad esp in glass and very cold
08-17-2002, 09:11 PM
Suncrest, huh? I'd like to check that out. Especially if you also like ice-cold Orange Crush. (Me, too.)
Hey, Hacksaw, if you have any trouble finding Boylan's, let me know; we've got plenty up here in SF.

what's suncrest? who makes it?
08-18-2002, 11:08 PM
Orangina, by a country mile!

From the Netherlands, in 200ml glass refillable bottles; it's a tie between SISI ORANGE and Dutch Fanta (the natural style). As for the 'sweet/artificial' style of orange, perhaps Nehi is the best or Mexicrush, but I'm not really into that sort of orange soda. smile.gif

I've heard about Dutch Fanta. Almost everyone who's told me about it gets that misty look in their eyes as they rave about it.
Unfortunately, I've not yet had the pleasure. But one day....(soon, I hope) :D

Orangina gives me diharreah. Not my favorite colon cleanser on planet Earth, but then again what is?
08-20-2002, 08:08 PM
The Orange flavored drink on tap at McDonalds is the best!
08-22-2002, 02:39 AM
I had a Suncrest today! I visited a specialty soda store in town, and they had some. I couldn't buy one unless I gave them another refillable bottle or drank it in the store so they could get the bottle back. They had a few of those classic refillable bottled drinks, but reading this thread a day or so ago made me get a Suncrest. I give it a 3 out of 5. I've never been an orange soda kind of guy, and it didn't change my mind on them.

hey, you're just kidding, bottleboss? hell, McDonalds orange drink IS the best, or was. I think they had their own original recipe at first, but changed it to Hi-C. I remember they had coolers filled with the stuff during field day at elementary school. Heaven...I almost forgot about this fine beverage. Much better than the carbonated stuff. But Boylans is the best carbonated orange, by far.

Beverages & More do have a space for Boylan's Orange; But they have yet to fill it. :(
I have yet to try Suncrest, Orangina, San Pellegrino, or Dutch Fanta Orange.

Artificially, Sunkist or C-Plus here in Canada.
08-25-2002, 05:22 AM
I could go for an orange vanilla pop tart.
08-26-2002, 09:56 AM
Hacksaw, Orangina available in your area. Try Bev & More, Andronico's, Whole Foods (on special till Labor Day!), Trader Joe's.
It's the best!.
Mix it 4:1 with vodka and a splash of Cointreau - serve in a Martini glass - it' s a GINATINI!

who makes suncrest? is it good, worth me trying to find it?
08-26-2002, 11:01 PM
Suncrest is a Monarch soda. As Far as I know, it is only made by Dublin Dr Pepper Bottling in returnable bottles. Now that I am in LA, I really crave it.

Try Monarch Beverage (http://www.monarchbeverage.biz/)

I actually prefer to make my own with D'Arbo syrups.

I remember growing up with two orange drinks that were the absolute best.
The most wonderful orange carbonated soda was put out by Frank's. It had just the right amount of orange flavor and carbonated water and it actually tasted like real orange. Sadly, I believe Frank's was purchased by Canada Dry and I don't think they make an orange soda.
My favorite non-carbonated orange drink has always been Tang. I know how artificial it is but I guess I like it because I can make it as sweet as I want. But just a word of warning, the Orange-Pineapple Tang is not as good.

I'm not a fan of orange soda in general. I sort of like Crush, but more for nostalgia's sake, as I was a huge fan of it as a kid in the early 80's (and was a brat who got my way all the time and so got to drink a lot of it). But that said, I have always been a bigger fan of Strawberry and grape crush, depending on my mood. As far as orange drinks go, my favorite by far, if you want to include ALL orange drinks, is HI-C.

Tang should make a soda.
09-23-2002, 06:50 PM
Ya but...couldn't you just mix Tang with soda water?
09-23-2002, 10:34 PM
Maybe those Sumpoosie people could make a Tang soda-SumpoonTang.
09-24-2002, 09:34 AM
Ha Ha Ha, DP Man you kill me, Ha Ha Ha!
09-24-2002, 10:13 AM
When I was a kid (about 1,000 years ago) Tang had a grapefruit flavor (I love grapefruit). I remember mixing it with carbonated water to make grapefruit soda.
Never quite worked out. Taste wasn't very good, and I couldn't get the powder into the water without the water bubbling up and splashing over.
AAAH, childhood memories!

Maybe an American Indian tribe can manu it...

I am partial to Orange Crush, although it pales in comparison to Surge.
07-07-2005, 12:53 AM
Tropicana Orange Juice. No Pulp. Fake orange can't beat the real stuff. Ever.
07-07-2005, 05:55 PM
Euro Fanta Orange is great, but expensive. Baumeister also has a great Orange.
07-07-2005, 10:51 PM
Nehi hands down.
Crush is pretty good too.
I also like Tru-Ade (non-carbonated) but I haven't seen it in years.
07-08-2005, 02:30 PM
European Fanta Orange is definetely the best I've tried.
07-09-2005, 06:11 PM
Orangette Orange Soda under Sam's Choice at Wal-Mart tastes nice..also Pepsi's new Tropicial Twister orange soda. Missed the old-days Crush Orange taste.

Big Bens orange from Catawissa is very good. It is similar to the McDonalds orange, but better still.
