View Full Version : Dr. Pepper: Berries and Cream

Has anyone heard anything about the new Dr. Pepper berries and cream? I got one from a sample box that was sent to the local Dr. Pepper office here in town.

Whoa, so you've tried it?

Hey, you've gotta tell us about this new product. How does it taste? What was the design on the can or bottle like? Come on don't leave us hangin!!

12-12-2005, 10:44 AM
Are they planning to keep Cherry Vanilla DP around after this is launched? The main reason I'm asking is because the non-diet version has JUST started showing up in my area in the last week or two. It would be odd if they were to start phasing it out just a few months after it arrived here.

Jericho - can you post a picture of it?

12-12-2005, 01:52 PM
I'm working on getting an image uploaded. I'm new at this and I'm at work now, so hopefully it will be up later today.

As for the taste, its seems less carbinated (not as much burning sensation in the throat) as regular dr. pepper. There is a touch of berry taste with light cream soda flavor around (of course) the main dr. pepper taste. None of the flavors (cream, dr. pepper, berries) really dominates the drink. It's all mixed pretty well together. I'm not a big cream soda fan, but those that are I can imagine really liking this. It's a pretty unique flavor that I have never experienced.

12-12-2005, 02:01 PM
Let me also say that I'm regretting drinking this a bit now. Since the label had UPC code and nutrition facts on the bottle I figured this must be hitting the market soon. But now that nobody on this board has even heard of it, maybe I should have kept it for my collection. Surely it will come out in stores though, and at least I got to taste it before most people.

12-12-2005, 02:30 PM
Yeah that is true. I was probably one of very few in my state that had Vault when I first got it in August. I didn't know anyone else who had any and most had never heard of it. In fact, I was probably one of few in the whole country since it was only released in 6 or 7 states. I still have all my cans and bottles and 1 full of each that I saved that I will keep forever.

12-12-2005, 06:02 PM
Planned for April. Most bottlers will keep all Cherry packages plus intro Berries and Cream.

Both reg and diet are excellent but the diet will be a huge hit.

here's a previous thread

i'm glad cherry vanilla is staying - that's fantastic stuff there.

Why do I see Dr. Pepper in Coke machines sometimes and in Pepsi machines other times?
Do both companies sell it?

Mr Zabe
12-13-2005, 02:20 PM
Well, one reason pop machines are provided to business and companies who sign an agreement to only sell their brands. Some companies break these agreements and do not buy directly form the pop company; and buy pop at whole sale stores like Sam's.

These companies stock their machines with other brands. Also some businesses buy older pop machines and stock what ever brands they want.

Dr. Pepper in various regions is bottled by Coke, and other regions bottled by Pepsi.

So that is why you see Dr.P in Coke or Pepsi Machines.

I think there is an agrement with Coke if they bottle Dr.p, then you will not find Mr. Pibb.

12-13-2005, 03:01 PM
With The Pictues of the berries+Cream bottle, Dr. P logo looks retro. Is Dr.P planning a much needed face lift?

All righty thanks for the info. I had always wondered about that and I just couldn't figure it out. It didn't make any sense until now.

I would pay $20 for a bottle of Dr. Pepper Berries and Cream or a Black Cherry Cream Coke right now!

I wish they had it on eBay like the New Zealand Raspberry Coke! smile.gif

I visited the website www.germandeli.com (http://www.germandeli.com) to order some Fanta products and also Orange Coke; however, they were imposing a $25 minimum.

Slightly off yet a little on topic comment.

Just IMO, what will Coca Cola have left if all their diet brands are Coca Cola-----Zero. I mean would you rather buy a diet soda pop that has
MORE taste than Zero carbs/calories. Yes it is a play on words, but to me it seems worth thinking about. I'm getting jaded already by all these Zero brands. Damn it I want more!!!! smile.gif LOL

Does it say what kind of berry. is it cherry, rasberry or what.

01-15-2006, 05:56 PM
The label shows raspberries.

01-16-2006, 12:08 AM
I really hope this drink has a really creamy raspberry taste to go along with the slight spice of Dr. Pepper. I just hope it isn't the other way around where it mainly tastes like Dr. Pepper with a slight creamy raspberry taste.

i heard from my salesmen today that the regular is bad but the diet is good

i hope i like it

02-20-2006, 08:34 PM
What a rip. $6 shipping for a single can!

It was produced by Ab-Tex Pepsi in Abilene, TX.

02-20-2006, 11:30 PM
I can't drink anything diet. The regular full-sugar (non-diet) Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream is awesome! I drank a plastic 20 oz. bottle of it and it was one of the best beverages I have ever had.

When will Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream be released in the metro-Detroit south-east Michigan region?

What made it one of the best beverages you've ever had? What was the main taste ect. more specifics. thanks smile.gif

02-21-2006, 12:14 AM
I believe the vanilla flavoring used in Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream is pure and well-defined. It doesn't have that nasty "artificial" bitter after-taste found in some other main-stream vanilla products.

DPBC taste like someone melted some natural vanilla ice cream into regular Dr. Pepper and added a hint of raspberry juice. The vanilla compliments the creamy flavor already found in regular Dr. Pepper. It's like experiencing a "double-shot" of vanilla.

The raspberry flavor is weak, but well-defined. It doesn't have the "bubble-gum" taste found in some other main-stream berry products. I believe these two high quality, well-defined flavors mix very nicely together with the regular Dr. Pepper flavoring.

Overall, DPBC is very sweet. Some people will be turned off by its sweetness; however, I believe the general public will embrace Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream in both the regular and diet versions.

03-02-2006, 05:55 PM
i tried the regular version of berries & cream today - i liked it - i really don't like regular dr pepper or cherry vanilla dr pepper but i think the berries and cream does a good job of killiing the "nasty" taste of dr pepper - i wish it had more of a creamy flavor - but overall it is good.

I've tried the diet version of Berries & Cream so far and have to say I'm not all that impressed. I agree with the earlier comments that the vanilla flavor is solid (but almost too heavy for me) and the raspberry was very subtle...almost to the point that you could say it's barely there. However, I feel like I'm almost drinking a cream soda in a sense...which I didn't care for. I thought the overall taste was a bit overwhelming...like there's too much going on or too many flavors coming through. I'm sure it will find its crowd...but it's not me!

03-13-2006, 02:52 PM
so how muhc longer til this stuff hits?

03-13-2006, 04:01 PM
Early April here...

March 27 for Central OH

03-13-2006, 07:14 PM

03-13-2006, 07:55 PM
It says the cans in the twelve packs are the test market cans which are a little different than the ones that will be released nationwide. I sappose that's why the 12 packs are going for over $80.00.

So is this being tested in some states? Or are these release dates we've been hearing for the test states?

03-14-2006, 03:57 PM
The April release I mentioned is for SoCal...to my knowledge this is not a test.

i heard late march early april - but thats not for sure - and who knows if that is everywhere - i'd say if you want to go for it but at the sametime i drove an hour to get some vault and i didnt like it - so i wasted gas and money doing that.

They indicated that the national launch for Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream is set for May, 2006.

Slightly silly question.
Do you think that when Dr. Pepper berries and cream get rolled that it will be like a Coca Cola roll out? I mean 20oz bottles and then cans to follow in a few months. I rather buy a few bottles for a test than have to buy a fridge pack.

I had my first one today. I drank it at room temperature so the taste may have been off for me. The first sip was heavy berry flavor and the rest of the sips were heavy on the cream side. I could not taste any Dr Pepper. No diet was seen. I am not a fan of cream type drinks so I doubt I will buy any more after this 12 pack is gone. I will try the diet when I find it.

03-24-2006, 06:57 PM
I just hit my area this week. I had my first drink of it yesterday. I thought it was berry good. I thought it was going to taste like the Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper.

03-25-2006, 05:56 PM
I am drinking my first bottle right now. You can really taste the berry flavor. I really don't taste much Dr.Pepper. I must say I like it better than cherry vanilla Dr.Pepper I hope they keep this around for awhile.

03-25-2006, 07:10 PM
Just found it today. I'm drinking Diet. It's decent. Dr. Pepper isn't my favorite drink but it's still drinkable. It kinda has the nauseating feeling of too many raspberries, so it's not something to drink fast. However it is very good to sip slowly.

This is something I'd get a pack of every now and then, but not something I'd be a regular drinker of. Still good, though.

03-25-2006, 07:29 PM
It showed up at the wals-mart in harpers ferry. All I can say is that it is O.K. Not great. Just O.K. But then again, I am not a berry fan.

03-25-2006, 09:25 PM
Well it hit Boulder today.
and I have to say it is a fine drink. Yummy. (non-diet) It has a wonderful berry flavor, and a great vanilla after taste.
Dr. Pepper has a winnner here!!

Diet, it's ok, I think the cherry vanilla is a bit better on the diet. You can taste the artifical sweetner.

it was regular Dr. Pepper: Berries and Cream

Why did you give it that rating? im not a big fan of cream sodas but this one had a good taste and was not over powering with the cream

03-29-2006, 06:09 AM
Came out yesterday in these parts - the more I drink the more I like it. I've only had the diet, but it's very tasty IMO. The Pepper flavor is there, but it's buried in the raspberry and cream flavors (and the packaging says "Naturally & artificially flavored raspberry & vanilla soda" so it's not a berry blend.)

It's quite sweet, and the vanilla flavor is much closer to a cream soda than the vanilla colas.

I'd say it's better than Cherry Vanilla DP. My hope is that this succeeds and Coke decides to play catch-up again and bring Raspberry Coke stateside - they don't have any R&D to do with that one.

Frequently and due to regional/local bottlers difference's flavors/extensions get rolled out faster or slower than the others area's.

It may be a hardship for you but eventually these Big Three roll outs will arrive in your area. The Coke Zero and Vault roll outs drove a lot of us crazy as the roll outs were slow in coming for many of us. smile.gif

I did buy some new(to me) soda pop. Black Bear assorted flavors in the 20oz btls for $0.33 each. Have you tried those before.

04-02-2006, 04:20 PM
The DPCV display was on the better part of the main DP/7up display. The price was $0.99. I kept thinking (the display was not shopped) why would they fetcher a soda pop that has no mass appeal?

The Vault display was still at the back of the store. It looked like it was being shopped.

It was goofy, I wounder if the store manager is real hard to deal with. IMO Vault should at lease share part of the main end cap with the other Coca Cola products.

I just had berries and cream, and I really like it. While my friends said "it's just cream soda", it's not. It has a nice warm and mellow taste. Very good.

04-02-2006, 05:41 PM
i tried the diet version of berries & cream yesterday - it was pretty good, and i hate diet soda. dr pepper really knows how to do diet soda. this stuff should sell very well

04-03-2006, 06:02 PM
I still have not been able to find any of the DPBC in my neck of Cali but I did just go to the website, which has been updated with the BC products at least. Still holding out for a single drop. I have been drinking regular DP but its always nice for a slight change. And the packaging rocks.

04-05-2006, 01:07 PM
Where for art thou?

04-05-2006, 07:40 PM
Just tried the diet version here in the northern Virginia suburbs (outside DC). I found I liked it much more than CV, which was a pleasant surprise. I tasted the cream much more than the berry - in fact I almost thought I was drinking "vanilla Dr Pepper" (which I don't think exists). But maybe I'm just not familiar enough with the taste of raspberries in general.

Sometimes it feels like a smack in the face when I drink Dr Pepper - it's just a little too much for me. But this one was good.

04-09-2006, 07:22 PM
Any Michigan sightings?

04-10-2006, 11:14 AM
Picked up a 2 liter in Walmart in Owosso, MI and also found a 12-pack in VG's in Owosso too.

First time I tried it, I thought it was weak. The second time it was really good. I am loving it now. Not as good as Cherry Vanilla in my opinion, but still really good.

04-10-2006, 11:41 AM
Guess I'm in the minority, but I thought both regular and diet were awful. Now, I am not a huge fan of raspberry, but I even took that into consideration and I still think it is bad.

On the other hand, I did pick up five six packs of Dublin Dr. Pepper yesterday while in TX. Now that's good stuff.

04-10-2006, 08:45 PM
Thanks! I can't wait 'till it hits metro Detroit!

I'm gonna try the Meijer store in Brighton.

When "Cherry Vanilla" Dr. Pepper was released, it was available at the Meijer in Brighton for almost a year before it hit the metro Detroit area.

I wonder if the same thing is happening with "Berries and Cream" Dr. Pepper?

I should check out stores in the Livingston county area. With my luck, Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream won't hit the Detroit market until next year. LOL

Yay! I finally went to the Meijer in Brighton, Michigan in Livingston County.

I searched their soda isle and was disappointed that I wasn't able to find any DPBC after driving all that way in the rain; however, when I walked to the VERY BACK of the store, Meijer had some assorted 12 packs of both regular and diet DPBC. It was located in the middle of the isle near the health and beauty supplies and dairy section.

12 packs sold for $2.50 (plus refundable deposit of $1.20 for a total of $3.70 per 12 pack)!

Also, at the front of the store they had some 20oz plastic bottles (refrigerated) for $0.50 (plus refundable $0.10 deposit for a total of $0.60 per bottle).

RunWithDaLilGuy gave me the heads up about this location when CVDP came out. I figured I'd get lucky with this area again. LOL

For some reason, I wasn't as impressed this time around with DPBC as I was the first time when I had tried it a few months ago.

The 20oz bottle was shaped differently and the taste wasn't as well defined compared to the first bottle I had from another state.

I'm not sure if I can recommend DPBC as highly as I did before.

I think I will stick with Coke Classsic smile.gif

I wonder if they would let me exchange the four 12-packs of DPBC for Coke Classic LOL

The 20-oz. bottles of Berries & Cream has finally made its way to the big Jack's $.99 store on 40th St between Madison & 5th ave here in midtown NYC!

Overall, it's a tasty treat, here are my observations:

Personally, I like Berries & Cream better than Cherry Vanilla, which is also good, but needs more vanilla flavor - Regular Dr. Pepper already basically IS a cherry soda, so the cherry part isn't the problem - it's the vanilla. Because it's so light on the vanilla, Cherry Vanilla DP tastes a bit too similar to the original and needs a tune-up to make it more distinctive.

The raspberry flavor in Berries & Cream is a bit light, but at least it's there (it's actually more noticable when it's out of the fridge a bit and warmer, I guess it needs to 'breathe' a bit like Coke Zero on the rocks LOL). But, at least they got the vanilla part better this time - It's definitely smoother and more distinct than Cherry Vanilla DP.

I had the regular last week, and I'm drinking thediet as I write this. I like both, but I kinda like the Diet version of 'Berries better than the regular (which is a good thing, my blood sugar would be through the roof if I didn't drink diet soda between the regular). As someone else noted earlier, I agree the raspberry taste is slightly more prominent in the diet version.

Overall, it's good stuff, I'm looking forward to 12-packs!

The Diet is available here in Charleston.

Okay. Sort of.

Publix was giving away free samples on Sunday to promote it. They only had the diet version. Naturally, I bought a 12 pack.

I went back to Publix yesterday, and they only had one 2 liter bottle of it. So I'm not completely convinced it's made its way through the proper distribution channels yet. But it should be arriveing throughout the month.

I have not seen the regular version of the soda. I'm wondering if they're doing a similar introduction to the Berries and Cream as they did to the Cherry Vanilla (i.e. distribute the diet nationwide and hold off on the regular for a few months.)

Incidentally, the regular Cherry Vanilla is avaialable here, but it is much harder to find than the diet.

04-12-2006, 07:38 PM
After trying a few more cans I like it even more. It is a good change of pase. I can definently see myself buying this often. I hope this sells good and pressures coke to release raspberry coke.

I just saw the commercial on tv for ddpbc so I'm assuming the full roll-out will be coming soon. The commercial was funny.

04-13-2006, 08:24 AM
I have been drinking the diet for 2 weeks now, it is really good.

04-13-2006, 12:18 PM
Finally found it here in Asheville NC in 20oz plastic. I definitely like it and hope to spot 12 packs soon.

To me, it comes across as basically a very sweet berry-ish Dr. Pepper, I don't get too much "cream" besides maybe the fact that it does seem slightly smoother than regular Dr. Pepper.

But everyone's tastes and opinions are different eh?

(Best example was when I got a Mocha coffee from Starbucks one time... my wife couldn't drink it because she thought there was far too much coffee in it, I on the other hand was totally convinced that it was merely Hot Chocolate, with no coffee whatsoever!)

04-13-2006, 04:42 PM
I'm pretty surprised with how good this stuff is. Less bite than regular but still hass that Peppery taste. Far better than the recent DP extensions (RedFusion included). I dont see myself drinking a ton of it or anything but it is a very fine product that I will pick up here and there as long as it stays around.

04-14-2006, 03:12 PM
Finally found both the regular and diet versions. I think I like the regular a little better, but the taste difference is pretty negligible. But I love this stuff...it has a nice sweet and creamy flavor with the perfect balance between berries, cream, and the classic DP taste. Much better than Cherry Vanilla, IMHO.

I also found Coke Blak for the first time in the same store...more on that in another thread.

I finally saw DPBC in Wal-Mart today, first as a single 12 pack on the shelves and then in the coolers up front. I grabbed a bottle of the original version upon checking out. I liked this stuff from my first taste onward. Darn tasty stuff! The nice balance of flavors combine to make it taste like no other Dr Pepper product I've had before. I'll definitely be buying at least a couple of 12 packs of the stuff. The Doomite Is Out!

04-15-2006, 06:59 AM
Man, what a huge topic this one has turned into! I haven't followed it because I was not exactly excited by the name of the product - and was expecing it to sink and fade away. I'm not expecting the Dr Pepper brand name to be able to support another flavor variation on the shelves. But after reading some of the positive reviews of it I suppose I'll have to give it a try.

04-15-2006, 06:18 PM
This is pretty good. I liked it.

04-15-2006, 10:26 PM
I finally found it yesterday from Philadelphia Coke. I chilled a bottle, and just tried it. By the smell, I had expected a more cream-y taste, but the raspberry really overpowers the cream. It's almost mediciney. It's a change from normal sodas, but not something I'd drink a lot of.

04-16-2006, 02:06 AM

I just had my first Diet Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream, and I must say, I am impressed. :D At first, I thought it was too similar to Black Cherry & Vanilla Diet Coke, but there is a difference. The cream is noticable - but not annoying. My friend Heather bought the soda for me. The two of us critique diet soda variants. We're in agreement that this one is a winner. I'll be interested to see if I get tired of it.

Not a bad haul. I was not in the mood for my regular Pepsi cube. I still have some left in the fridge. Oh yeah in honor of MrR I brought some Poweraid,I'm not sure of the flavor. It's cloudy white...Atic Blast????? Help me out here please?

Finally I was able to find the right moment to drink my first sips of Dr Pepper Berries & Cream.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the 20oz bottle was the sweet bouquet of raspberry. I spent at least a 1/2 minute just letting that wonderful smell bath my nose. The smell reminded me of my Grandparents raspberry bushes. As a little kid we would pick and eat raspberries.YUM

Dr Pepper must have been hearing my thoughts and prayers. The taste of DPBC was awesome. The full raspberry taste was powerful; the back end taste of the Dr Pepper brings in both "flavors" together for on enjoyable gulp.

The cream aspect,at least for my first tasting, did not seem overpowering if anything it took a slight edge off the raspberry taste.

I had been wanting this quality of drink for a long time. In my opinion, DPBC hits my taste buds head on with a full flavor and a smooth finish.

On the Zabe scale of 1 to 10.....IMO.. 9.5
A very well done soda pop. smile.gif

I am really impressed with the new Dr. Pepper flavors they came out with. I don't know whether I prefer one over the other, but for different times, I like the different ones. I would say the DDPBC does a better job of covering up the fact that it's diet than the regular or the DDPCV does, but I like them both.

Welcome to our friendly home away from home. smile.gif

Try going to the Dr Pepper website and check the Press Release or News area. Sometimes they post pictures for the press to use in the media. You will need to copy the URL info and past it in your profile. You can do the same thing with any image you find on the net. You will need to preview it to see if it looks clear enough. Warning this advice is coming from a nearly computer idiot. LOLOLOL

Good Luck
PS DPBC most likely is not available as an avatar on this board as it just rolled out. smile.gif

I haven't tried it yet (I'll say what I think later, I put it in my minifridge to cool them) though I'll state that I don't normally drink Dr Pepper so this should be an interesting taste.

Some good and bad news for us...GOOD NEWS IS, Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper did huge numbers in Alberta and Ontario and will be coming back, not as a limited edition but as a regular product, only in AB and ON. They will be test marketing the regular version next year. BAD NEWS IS, I guess the #'s for B&C Dr. P arent as good as they expected in the US and they WON'T be bringing it north of the border. Heard that from my rep today...

I've made an effort and try to remember to look for DP B&C every time I go in a store. I had not seen any until I was in a Publix looking for more KFP Coke. And there they were, about ten 12-packs of Diet. But it was nowhere near the beverage aisle, and it was not at the end of the aisle or anything. It was near the back of the store on tiny little shelf near the open seafood coolers, mixed in with a few other brands. There was only the diet version, but I found it a bit odd that it was in such a strange location, just above floor level.

I just now discovered this board searching for more info on DPBC, really enjoy bevnet.com so far.

I haven't been able to find the regular DPBC but I have found the diet version which tastes great IMO. I don't taste much cream or Dr.Pepper but a whole lot of Raspberries. It has no aspartame aftertaste from what I taste and is probably one the best diet drink I have tasted so far. Like what was said earlier it smells awesome which sets up the taste quite well.

I've been in three Wal Marts in different parts of New York State and each time I heard on the in store Wal Mart radio, or whatever it's called, an ad for Dr Pepper Berries and Cream. Not once have I seen B&C in a Wal Mart. Dr Pepper is getting hosed if they paid for this ad.

It seems you guys in and around NY always have problems with getting newly rolled out soda pops.
It has to really suck to hear those stupid adds and not find the product. :(

Maybe they put up an end cap display or in some isolated area, a built up display. I know you are a seasoned expert so I'm sure if you did not find it then that's that. smile.gif

Berries and Cream is here, just not in all retailers.

It's pretty good. My wife isn't a Pepper, but she even likes it! smile.gif

I'm assuming the radio ads are different than the tv commercial. I've seen the berries and cream commercial four or five times now. I think the concept is funny. Anyone else?

I haven't seen it on a tv commercial. I wonder what that's like. I've only seen in Wal-Mart.
