View Full Version : Jewel Strawberry Soda Pop

I was in the mood to try some Jewel Strawberry soda pop (low on cash LOL).
You know what...it was damn good. It reminded me of Strawberry Crush. Store brands can be hit or miss. Albertsons (Jewel) soda pop has not been all that good but the Strawberry I drank today was pretty good.
What store brand/off label soda pops have tasted better second time around?

This wasn't the second time around but I had Roundy's Root Beer recently and it was really good.

I have a Red Rock strawberry chilling in the fridge now. I've never tried it before, hopefully it's good.
I avoid Sam's choice -- it always tasted watered down to me.

Generally, I love store-brand sodas. The Jewel brand mentioned above are good, and similarly, Walgreeen's are pretty good, too. A brand I discovered most recently (and which is now my new favorite) is Target's 'Market Pantry'. I've tried their Cola and 'Dr Spice' in cans and like both very much. $1.99/12-pack.

Very cool. I do not shop at Target too much.
I for sure will give Market Pantry a try.

I always enjoy a good generic cola, since Coke and Pepsi really are their own unique tastes, not really cola per se.
Big K (Kroger) not only has the largest breadth of generic flavors, but some of the best as well. But I warn you to stay away from the Drop Red (Code Red clone), it's really bad.

Sorry, but I guess I am a bit of a snob when it comes to store brand soda. Most of the time I think it taste like the can it came in ;)
But, I have to hand it to Safeway Supermarkets, the house brands, from soups to soda to salsa are as good, if not better that brand names.
Their grapefruit soda is fantastic, and IMHO better than the old citra.

Im a big fan of Jolly Good Sour power. I think its the same as 50/50.

Are you speaking about Canfield's 50/50?
Canfield's 50/50 is a grapefruit lemon soda pop.
50/50 was at one time a very popular soda pop in the Chicago area. It tasted like carbonated grapefruit juice (for it's day, it was very good and refreshing). 50/50 now has if any 1 cube facing in the stores.

No Red Rock sodas round these parts, Boss. I picked the cans up in an independent store in Alabama - canned by Big Springs of Huntsville AL.
Glass is a little easier to find. I believe Dr Pepper West Jefferson produces them. Cheer-wined would know.
The bottle/can sodas are HFCS, the glass is "premium" with sugar.
