This commercial was significant not only for Coca-Cola, it was significant for McCann Erickson also (the advertising agency for Coke), cause they were in danger of lost the Coca-Cola world account, and thanks to this commercial, they kept the account for more years...

This commercial is very famous... it was released in different countries, but instead of Joe Greene, the commercial was featured by sport stars of that time in their respective countries, for example, Diego Armando Maradona in Argentina and Zico in Brazil.

Another vintage 70s commercial from the "Coke is Life" era: Coca-Cola Pong (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX51pCtLv08)

It features disco and a cute girl beating a horn-rimmed-glasses nerd in a game of Pong (!) at a pinball arcade (!!), then cheering him up with a Coke and a kiss. I expect this dated silliness from Pepsi, not KO smile.gif

YouTube has become so huge lately, but I'm really surprised that various corporate hammers havn't fallen on them for allowing so much copyrighted material such as this to be there. A few of those links had been removed but not that many, as far as I could tell. (I only tried a dozen or so of them, and I also looked up a few Pepsi commercials while I was there.) It's cool to see some of this stuff again - even if some of it is pretty lame.
