You mentioned on your site to bring Surge back to it's past glory? Hmmm....I don't believe it has had ANY glory. Give it up......

Good Job on the website!!!
I honestly am not a fan of Surge, but i signed the petition to show my appreciation.
Surge is not sold in my area anymore.

Thanks very much, xlogold! We very much appreciate your signing the petition smile.gif

Thanks a ton xgold!
10*2*4 - By past glory we are refuring to they days when it sold some 69 million cases making it in the top 20. Now i realize thats was a short amount of time but alot of companies would die for that volume.

Perhaps grammar and spelling should be your first priority instead of failed soft drink sites?
02-06-2002, 08:59 AM
Hey 10*2*4, enough with the personal attacks. It's obvious you have nothing better to do, so why don't you get a job or something?
02-06-2002, 03:20 PM
Thanks for your concern....but I AM employed...paid quite well to make sure that lame drinks like surge is put in it's rightful place.....the dumpster. Concerning the personal attacks,it's nothing against you....just a pet peeve seeing words and sentences butchered beyond belief.

I'd like to think that the BevBoard is best used for discussing beverages. It's fine with us if you don't like Surge, you're opinion is welcome.
It would be nice if you refrained from any attacks on people, though.

Well I'm 16 and my browser has no spell check so I'm deeply sorry if I offended your poor eyes. This site is about drinks. Its not grammer.com. I don't pretend to know everything but I know SURGE and I have faith that people can make things change. So once again I'm sorry to offend.

Good luck guys!! I found 2 lonely six packs of Surge in a store cooler in Potter County Pennsylvania today.

Thanks for the heads-up pepperman we can use all the help we can get smile.gif

Hey Karks88, love the Surge closet. I have ,to my wife's annoyance, kept our kitchen closet filled with Dr Pepper 12 packs. A sale price of $1.99 a 12 pack plus doubling a 55 cent coupon means a closet full of 89 cent 12 packs. It was even worse the last 2 years when I would come home from road trips with 6-10 6 packs of Coke Nascar bottles.
03-12-2002, 11:21 AM
Thanks dpman! Glad to hear that I'm not the only one filling a closet with soda. I have 16 packs left, and even though it pains me, I have to open one today smile.gif
03-12-2002, 06:15 PM
I feel bad that you HAVE to stock a closet while I have no reason except a cheap price to buy more than 1 12 pack. :( :( :( :(
03-13-2002, 10:20 AM
I think it's great that you have an abundance of DP even though I don't think there will ever be a day when you can't find it! I've been lucky that SURGE is still rampant in Chambersburg stores for whatever reason. Food Lion, Giant, Wal Mart, they all have SURGE!!!!! smile.gif

I noticed on the Coke website in the full products listing that Urge is still made? Is that a mistake that Coca-Cola forgot to correct?
From what i noticed it seems like Surge is no longer sold anywhere in New England.
How many states is it still available in?
03-13-2002, 06:25 PM
Urge is actually the European version of Surge. From what I know, I think it's only available in Norway (according to the Coke Europe sites I visited).
According to the e-mails we've gotten, there are 12 confirmed states where Surge can be found in one form or another, they are: CA (only in 1 fountain), GA, IN, KS, KY, MI, OH, OK, OR, PA, WA & WI. From what I know, they are in at least portions of those states if not all over. Garden State Beverage in NJ has Surge listed on their website as well, but then again it may be old.
03-16-2002, 12:33 AM
Well i suppose there is more of a demand for it than i thought, and it looks like Urge is still used in Europe but they renamed it Surge here.
The local Coca-Cola bottler here never gave us a replacement soda, i guess those type of drinks here do not sell well enough for Coca-Cola to bottle them.
03-16-2002, 10:55 AM
I think SURGE is in slightly better shape than I intially thought last year. At least, it's in a few more places than I thought it was.
In my town, they did replace it with Mello Yello but I only see it at beverage distributors. Not one grocery store in Carlisle has Yello at this time. I think once SURGE left, they just doubled the Fresca space (yuck!).
03-16-2002, 03:59 PM
Is surge still widely available in florida? I ask because I was there 2 weeks ago (specifically the All-Star Resorts at Disney World) and they had all you could drink Surge flowing from the fountains.... It was very good smile.gif
03-17-2002, 09:46 AM
Well, Surge, I really liked the site, and you got signature 946 from me.
03-17-2002, 12:08 PM
Thanks so much for the signature FitzgeraldHead! We can use all the help we can get smile.gif
mickstafa, SURGE isn't really availabe in Florida outside of a few fountains, congrats on finding one! Were they giving out other Coke products as well?
03-17-2002, 02:34 PM
Yeah Guys!! I'm excited to finally be able to figure out where the hell my Surge went! For that reason you have 948 on there! Long Live Surge!!
Oh, for your info, I just had Surge yesterday at a Fuddrucker's in New Jersey by Princeton. That's what made me so curious to find out what happened...
If anyone gets Surge freely, and would be willing to ship me a 12 pack (I'd pay shipping and everything), I would consider them god. Email me at C_Diddy24@hotmail.com if you'd be so kind. THANKS!!!
03-22-2002, 01:09 PM
Thanks for the great help everybody. I just got back from Massachusets, no SURGE there :-( . Thanks for helping us make SaveSURGE.org
03-22-2002, 06:38 PM
Karks88, as of 3-16 you have 21 12 packs. Thats 252 cans, enough to last to the end of the year. surge is still for sale in your area. You limit yourself to ONE CAN A DAY???
03-23-2002, 12:10 AM
Actually, I wrote that statement before I had the huge acquisition of SURGE smile.gif I now drink it quite freely. Frankly, if I don't start drinking it faster it will go bad!
03-23-2002, 01:13 AM
actually a person at the bottling plant told me bottles last 3 months after experation and cans last up to 9 months after experation. until a few years ago they never put the date on the cans. So you might have enough to last you quite awhile.
03-23-2002, 01:49 AM
xlogold, I think that's backwards. The longest lasting is the thick refillable glass bottle, followed by the thinner 'one-way' glass bottle, followed by the plastic bottle, followed by the tugboat known as the wafer-thin aluminum can. You may recall that in a sort of backward, twisted way, can manufacturers were once touting cans as the way to buy beer (obviously low-quality beer) because you could chill it 'faster'. Hmmm... chill it faster? Probably because it gets hot and cold faster which means it ruins the beer. Of course they left out that part, considering the high cost per minute of ads.
03-24-2002, 03:41 AM
Glass Coke bottles 9 month store shelve life because there not as thick anymore they probably last about 2 years though, Coke cans 9 months shelve life but can last 9 months after that, Plastic bottles 3 months but can last 3 months after that.
Diet beverages loose carbonation faster and are 3 months on cans, not sure about glass and 3 months on plastic bottles.
03-24-2002, 04:56 PM
Ok, here's the scoop on the dates, well, from a Coca-Cola perspective, anyway.
Carbonated sugar products: cans: 9 months, glass: 9 months, 2L/20oz PET, 3 months, 16.9oz PET, I think is 45 or 60 days.
Diet products: 90 days on all packages, except 16.9oz (see above)
Non-carbonated products: diets: same as above. sugar: 9 months on cans, 6 months on PET.
Dasani: 1 year
Juices, teas, etc.. various dates, depending on product.
03-26-2002, 09:45 AM
That's exactley right.
