Do you think it will be good?

09-14-2003, 11:51 AM
it's good. are they making one?

I sense a success rate of Diet Coke w/Lemon. I doubt it will go over well.

09-15-2003, 01:29 AM
The product was also discussed at a recent CCE meeting (I mentioned it on the "something old" thread).

09-19-2003, 01:45 PM
It's a good idea, but I'm kind of skeptical about how the formula will turn out. The original formulation of Diet Coke with Lemon was dreadful but the new formula they introduced a few months ago is not too shabby. Diet Pepsi Twist is still better though.

09-19-2003, 03:45 PM
Are you kidding me? I tried that twice and couldn't even finish the can either time.

09-24-2003, 05:36 PM
I'm suprised they still never added a Lemon Coke to there line-up yet.

09-25-2003, 01:32 AM

Supposed launch for this is Spring 03. Also look for a new Sprite Remix flavor, but no word on what that flavor is (hopefully it's cherry!).

10-25-2003, 11:34 PM
Sweet, it came out in the Spring! Have to go look for it...

I meant 2004! oops! redface.gif

Maybe the new flavor of remix is reformulated remix. That stuff is nasty. Only ONE bottler I tried it from tasted good, and the only reason was probably cause the bottler reformulated it to taste better. How's this for a fanta flavor... the remix from Coke of Northern New England I tried tasted like banana soda ;)

11-12-2003, 09:28 PM
Central Coke's Remix is an interesting flavor concoction of Peach and Strawberry, along with maybe a little hint of grape. The more I taste of it, the more I like it, but the smell is noxious. You know someone's got Remix a mile away!

Latest word is that Diet Coke w/ Lime will be out in early January.

12-05-2003, 06:11 AM
Diet Coke with lemon is already out in Spain. It almost tastes like Diet Coke poured in a glass then add a real piece of lemon. Only difference is that it tastes a little bit artificial.

If I had to give it the star system I would prob say 3 stars.

They have been advertising it on national TV for the past 6 months so its now everywhere.

12-05-2003, 09:40 AM
Diet Coke with Lemon has been across North America since 2001. Alot of people say it tastes artificial.

In 2003 they changed the formula and it taste more like diet Pepsi Twist , although I have not tried it yet...really have no desire to try it until they release A regular Lemon Coke version.

When Diet Coke with Lime comes out I will try it but again, I will not drink it on a regular basis because it's a diet drink.

12-05-2003, 11:46 PM
Ok, the Coke marketing machine at work. When Lime is introduced, Lemon will be relaunched. AGAIN! this will be the second time! How many freakin' times can you relaunch something?

12-07-2003, 11:41 AM
Relaunched again? Must not be doing well. Will it have another new taste?

Fusion... what is berry clear Sprite ReMix?

Do you know when the 24oz. 6 packs will be released in more areas?

Someone had mentioned the 1 liter Coke bottles will be straight sided again, and be called sharesize or something, any truth to that?

12-08-2003, 12:36 PM
The last Coke rep I talked to in my local grocery store said that Diet Coke w/ Lemon just sat on the shelves all over this area. He was hoping they would just put it out of its misery ;)

12-08-2003, 12:41 PM
DC w/L is dog foot, though the reformulation is better. This time Pepsi did a better job, not worth drinking but better.

12-08-2003, 09:53 PM
Berryclear ReMix is going to replace Tropical in April. I scanned the pic off a pamphlet I grabbed from the office.

Not sure if Lemon will get a new taste, I think they are going to just tie it in with the Lime and push them both hard (and watch them fail).

I haven't heard any word about the 24oz. I know that sales are skyrocketing here, we are 2/$5 in almost all chains, and $1.99 for the military (commissary). Still the same flavors, Coke, Diet, Sprite, Vanilla, CF Diet, Nestea, MM Lemonade, Dasani. I've also seen Mello Yello and Dr Pepper (angle bottle) produced by the Cleveland TN plant.

I did hear that Coke is test marketing a big-slam type 1 liter, with the wide mouth and large cap. I don't know anything beyond that.

12-13-2003, 05:13 PM
Only time will tell how good they will do.

I heard about the wide cap and it reminded me of the Pepsi big slam too. From what I was told it will be able to fit in most cup holder on cars and bikes. That is why I think they made it straight sided and not contour.

Anybody think there are any plans for regular Coke flavor extensions? The diet flavors have more variety than the regular flavors now.

12-13-2003, 05:17 PM
Not a flavor extension, but there has been some more chatter about a mid-calorie version of Coke.

12-15-2003, 06:40 PM
I heard about the mid calorie stuff too. Is there really a demand for this?

12-15-2003, 11:03 PM
I think so, but I wonder if it is just a fad.

With the success of Atkins and other diets, and schools kicking high calorie sodas to the curb, soda companies may develop lower calorie beverages to win back consumers, without the stigma of diet sodas (and the taste that goes with them).

Coke's Swerve is mid-calorie. They use a combination of Spenda and HFCS to sweeten it.

12-16-2003, 11:46 AM
for the 24oz six packs, they are almost always the same price as cans in michigan, even when on sale, and the cans blow out while the 24oz 6packs sit. not a popular package at all and since the plastic is once again the same size, people buy the cans.

12-16-2003, 07:29 PM
plus we only have coke, diet coke, dcf coke and sprite and dasani. only once have i seen dr pepper (no squirt) from cleveland tennessee, it looks so comical i don't think they did it again.

12-27-2003, 01:30 AM
Came into the Warehouse today. It is, suprisingly, pretty good. Better than regular diet coke in my opinion.

12-27-2003, 09:32 PM
I'm assuming it's an Ace-K/Aspartame sweetened drink? That's what Coke did with the other diet flavors, which makes them pretty drinkable. I can't stomach Diet Coke or CF Diet Coke. Ugh.

12-28-2003, 10:42 AM

12-28-2003, 11:26 AM
We have both in, but I only tried the Diet Coke W/Lime.

12-28-2003, 07:32 PM
who's making them? what's swerve look like?!?!?!?!

12-28-2003, 08:32 PM
Check out Swerve (http://www.swervedrinks.com/) for pictures.

Swerve looks a lot like Slap, and that's what it is based on. Choglit failed miserably, and got kicked to the curb.

Vanana is the best out of the three. Chocolate tastes too cocoa-y, and the bloo reminds me of strawberry Quik.

12-28-2003, 08:36 PM
Oh, and Swerve is in 11 ounce cans, produced by Batavia, New York based copacker (O-AT-KA Milk Products). They also used to produce Choglit and Planet Java (is that stuff still sold anymore?)

12-28-2003, 09:10 PM
interesting. i am a soda drinker more though. swerve seems to be more of a compitition of nestle quick.

12-28-2003, 09:12 PM
I assume Diet Coke with Lime is sweetened with NutraSweet since the 2 big companies are still trying to keep away from the Splenda brand sweetner.

12-28-2003, 11:22 PM
Swerve is made with sucralose (the generic name for Splenda) and sugar.

Coke uses a combination of Ace-K (the abbreviation for acesulfame potassium) and aspartame in their light/diet drinks, except for Diet Coke and CF Diet Coke. They still use just aspartame. And Tab, which has saccharin.

Ace-K's "brand name" in the us is Sunett.

12-29-2003, 01:11 AM
Will Swerve be in 12/24 packs anytime soon?

12-29-2003, 02:40 AM
wait, i thought swerve was the mid claorie cola...

12-29-2003, 11:06 PM
No, Swerve is the line of milk-based drinks.

I doubt you'll see it in multipacks. It comes in the warehouse in 24 loose cans in a cardboard tray, which is shrinkwrapped. The retail is usually about the same as 20oz CSD.

12-30-2003, 07:45 AM
If DC w Lime has been received "in the warehouse", can you post a pic of the graphics? When will it be released to consumers?

12-30-2003, 11:34 PM
I have a picture from the ad campaign for Diet w/ Lime, it's a can that's "sliced" at the end, revealing slices of lime. It's kind of silly looking, but I could scan and post it.

The "dynamic ribbon" below the Diet Coke logo on the can has a green tint to it, and there's a slice of lime along with the words "with Lime" across the ribbon.

Launch date (at least in Maryland) is the around the 14th of January. I've seen authorizations for it in most all the chains. 20oz and 6pk cans will be coming first. Food Lion's authorized side stacks of the cans in their stores.

12-30-2003, 11:49 PM
cce-lansing, mich, hasn't received any diet coke with lemon in a long while, the thinking being that they are waiting out for lime.

12-31-2003, 12:08 AM
yes scan the pic please.

12-31-2003, 12:30 AM

12-31-2003, 01:49 AM
It's went into stores here on Monday.

12-31-2003, 11:28 PM
No sign of it from Central's Cumberland sales center yet that I know of.

01-07-2004, 10:42 PM
thanks for posting the pic. i like the graphics.

01-08-2004, 03:09 AM
No sign of it around me either.

01-08-2004, 09:25 AM
haven't seen it in Consolidated's central territory yet.

01-08-2004, 10:50 PM

01-09-2004, 01:44 AM
so what
s the mid calorie cola called

01-09-2004, 06:31 PM
no idea. I don't even know if it's made it out of the lab, yet. There was no mention of it at the first quarter sales rally this week.

01-09-2004, 11:37 PM
No Lime here yet, but I can still find Lemom Fridge Packs if anyone cares. Both Martin's and Food Lion have them.

01-10-2004, 12:07 AM
CCE Mid-Atlantic just dropped Diet w/ Lemon 16.9oz 6pks, along with Cherry 16.9oz 6pks. I wonder if this is signaling an eventual chance from 16.9oz to 24oz.

Diet w/ Lemon FPs are readily available around here, though Valencia Orange light has become impossible to find.

Diet w/ Lime FPs should be out at the beginning of March.

Our crack research staff hasn't found any of the Lime on the streets *yet* in the LA area. I've heard Coke is holding any new products in the LA area due to the pending FP conversion, but that is only rumour.

Not to mention the grocery strike which is crippling sales of new products (Vanilla Pepsi has taken a major hit here since the big 3 went into labour problems)

24 oz have NOT hit California yet. If you want a Dr Pepper 24 oz, gotta go to a Pepsi area to get it.

coke, pepsi and 7up are having labor disputes?

Weird it's here in Staunton but doesn't seem to be much place else. Central on the cutting edge? I thought I'd never see the day... Today's Kroger ad has Coca-Cola fridge packs 4 for $10, and Diet Coke w/Lime 20 ounce buy 2 get 1 free, and 6 packs of Diet Coke w/lime cans for $1.99. I thought it weird that Central is starting the cans of lime in 6 packs instead of 12 packs.

01-11-2004, 09:16 PM
its already out over there?

01-11-2004, 09:42 PM
Coke rolled out Diet with Lemon in 6 pack cans first as well. 12 packs followed later. I think it's a way to get people to sample something without buying a whole 12pk. Similar to when they rolled out Vanilla in 20oz first, which was a ripoff of Pepsi rolling out MD Code Red in 20oz first.

Retails are looking to be under $2 for a 6pk.. $1.99 most places, $1.67 at the commissary. I'd like to see them get it down to 99¢ and drop pallets in the Wally Worlds. I remember that happening when Citra was rolled out.

We've got a target date of 3/1 for Fridge Pack Diet w/ Lime.

No one much is shopping there, and the soda guys are having fun trying to place product in stores.

Actually, there's a good reason to start with 20 oz first. Simply put, its *far* cheaper to put a product in the trades in 20 oz than it is to start with cans. 20 oz is also more of a profit center for the bottlers.

01-12-2004, 02:10 PM
yah.. dont all new sodas roll out in 20 oz first?

01-12-2004, 03:10 PM
now most of them do, before code red they didnt.

01-12-2004, 03:22 PM
CCBCC rolled out Diet Coke with lime today with 4 packages:2ltr, fridgepacks, 6pk cans and 20oz.

01-12-2004, 08:49 PM
Philadelphia Coke rolled it out today as well. I saw Fridgepacks and 2 liters in a store, along with the new Diet w/ Lemon logo.

01-12-2004, 09:42 PM
wow so diet coke with lemon really did get a new makeover. 3rd one. I like it better actually. thats 2nd one was too plain.

I have seen a logo for vanilla coke with the word "Coke" in regular script with silver trim around it, and the Coke classic background.

01-12-2004, 09:54 PM
That sounds just like the German version of VC. Look on the other thread I just posted on(European beverages) to see a picture of it.

01-13-2004, 02:43 PM
i like both. so philly coke is one of the guys that uses those crazy caps.

01-13-2004, 03:54 PM
Anyone try this stuff yet?

I have never had Coke/Diet Coke with Lemon nor Pepsi Twist..

Will give the lemon and lime versions of Diet Coke as soon as Lime is out.

01-13-2004, 06:24 PM
those crazy caps? the lemon always had a yellow cap here. diet has white caps, and regular has red caps, sprite has blue caps, minute maid has black caps. thats for the coke products anyway.

as far as pepsi twist, they did a very good job on it, but you'll always hear complaints because most of us are brain washed into thinking Coke is it!

diet coke with lemon tastes very artificial, but if coke came out with the lemon first people would have acting like they did with vanilla coke.

01-13-2004, 09:16 PM
i meant the ridges. they are more pronounced, more raised.

01-13-2004, 09:50 PM
Those caps are standard for most of the northeast divisions in CCE (New York, New England, Mid-Atlantic) and the indie Coke bottlers around here as well (Central, ABARTA, Philadelphia). You'd really have to go south to the Georgia division, or Eastern Great Lakes stuff out of Twinsburg to see the non-ridged caps.

01-14-2004, 05:21 PM
Found from Central in Cumberland in 20 oz. at Wal-Mart and Sheetz, as well as Sprite 20 oz. w/the new graphics.

01-15-2004, 09:07 AM
Diet Coke with Lime has been available in Charlotte, NC since at least Fri 09Jan in 2 liters, fridge pack cans, and 20 oz bottles. Diet Coke with Lemon with the new graphics is also available now in 2 liters and fridge pack cans; I haven't seen the 20 oz bottles yet.

The Diet Coke with Lime press release on the Coca-Cola web site states "Diet Coke with Lime will be offered initially in 20-ounce and 2-liter bottles, multi-pack cans, as well as 8-ounce bottles, where available." Does anyone know where 8 oz bottles of Diet Coke with Lime would be available?

01-15-2004, 01:54 PM
8 ounce bottles?!

01-17-2004, 01:01 AM
cce-mi is running 6pk can displays of dclime, dclemon, dccherry. dcvanilla and dc/dccf to push their line of diet colas all at once.

01-26-2004, 12:44 AM
Well the Lime is really good, too bad its attached to Diet Coke. If this were a regualr Coke extension it would be heaps better. Still way better than lemon. I like the makeover too.

02-21-2004, 06:11 PM
Yuck! Had some samples while attanding a trade show in Atlanta last week (the only thing Coke was sampling there). The weak lime flavoring had a chemical/artificial taste to it. Luckily the Pepsi and DPSU folks were giving out samples.

02-21-2004, 09:32 PM
tastes a lot better than lemon though, sells better too.

02-23-2004, 12:02 AM
I have to disagree with you on your comment about it selling better. Not many people even know it exists still.

diet Coke's flavored products taste too synthetic.

02-23-2004, 11:13 AM
at least in this area, I don't know know any of the national figures.

03-03-2004, 02:03 PM
Saw it at Raley's in N. Calif. in the small plastic bottles. That's the way w/lemon first appeared here. I've seen no ads for it.

03-03-2004, 03:41 PM
have you heard the radio campaign?

"they put the lime in the diet coke"

03-05-2004, 04:19 PM
It's good. I like it better than Diet Coke w/lemon.

03-06-2004, 12:10 AM
My wife loves the stuff. She is a hard sell. She hated lemon.

03-06-2004, 11:37 PM
If you look at page two of this thread, I posted a picture of the new Lemon.. they reformulated it (again). I think it tastes 100% better than the last try. and 1000% better than the original.

03-23-2004, 02:23 AM
