In the 2001/2002 timeframe, some red-colored sodas (such as Mountain Dew Code Red) began to appear on the market.

Later on, other strangely-colored sodas began to appear in the market, such as Pepsi Blue, Fanta Berry, and dnL. They all flopped.

I would like to see all of your opinions whether there is still a market for these colored sodas. Some of the red sodas still live today, but some other colors have died. What makes red a more attractive color for a beverage?

Yellow (not green-yellow like Mountain Dew)?
White (not clear)?

Probably only in the "gourmet" soda lines could such colors exist.

Many of your cream sodas are blue or yellow-brown, with a couple of red ones still. Pineapple is often yellow.

Jolt has an Electric Blue. Fanta Blue Raspberry is in Slurpees.

Some bottled lemonades are pink.

I love Whooppee Lemon-Lime, but it's hard to get now, and it's bright green. So is AJ's Lemon-Lime.

MD Pitch Black is the closest I've seen to black. White, Aqua, Magenta, & Cyan don't seen to be popular.

Sobe's Mr. Green was a dark green color I'd never seen ... I mean really dark, and kelly green dark (I think that's right!).

The fertilizer-green color of dnL and Mt Dew Baja Blast always freaked me out.

But I love both, and the color has no effect on my enjoyment.

Baja Blast is actually the only Mt. Dew flavor I have disliked. It's not the color. I think it's cool, but the flavor is what gets me. I just don't like lime flavored things. It wasn't half bad but it's not something that I will drink very often. I always liked the blueness of Pepsi Blue. It's not very often that you see a blue pop.

That Pepsi Blue was real strange.

Here in Mexico we had and have some strangely colored sodas:

- Fresca Rosa and Kas Rosa (Grapefruit with pink color)
- Fresca Roja (Grapefruit with red color) so red that also paints your mouth.
- Beat (Citrus soda) this one had an almost fluorescent yellow color.
- Pepsi Blue (blue color cola but unfortunately no berry taste) yuck!
- Pepsi Fire (red cola) double yuck!
- Mirinda Narangotica -Batman Begins special edition-(kinda mix of orange and grape) this one tastes good! It has a purple color.
- Crush Blueberry blue of course, but the taste is not good at all.

BTW, I haveto mention the Colombian Manzana Lift red apple and green apple flavors (pink and green respectively)

Hey Ramonazo, have you tried Lift Toronja? I got some down in Guatemala, and I thought it kind of tasted like Fresca. Also, what about the Limited Edition Mirinda Gothika. It says "La Secreta Combinacion De Naranja Con Un Misterioso Sabor De Ciudad Gothika." I thought it tasted like fruit punch but I wasn't sure.

About Lift Toronja, I've never tried the Lift toronja from Guatemala, but before the release of Fresca and Manzana Lift here in Mexico, there was a Mexican Lift Toronja, but only in few cities like Mazatlan, I tried it a long time ago and you're true, tastes like Fresca.

And about Mirinda Narangotica, I tried it three times and tastes like a mix of orange and grape, the taste is good, I'm sure of that. But Pepsi says that this product has a "misterious" flavor, in order to produce curiosity between the consumers, (the same they made with Pepsi Fire), In my opinion they should mention the specific flavor of the soda in the label, If Mirinda Narangotica and Pepsi Fire were launched in U.S. with the same description of sodas with "misterious" flavor in the label, the FDA would claimed to Pepsi faster.

Did you know that the consumers of soda pop would rather not know the attempted flavoring of their products? LMAO

It has to be those "mutant cockroaches" of marketing doing what they do best. LOL

The local soda company here (A-Treat) makes Big Blue, which is bright blue, maybe electric blue, and has a very unique taste. They also make pineaple soda, and that is a yellow. (I just thought I'd mention that they make Sarsasparilla, which doesn't have a strange color, but not that many companies still make it.)

Yeah I wasn't really sure about its flavor but now that I think about it it kind of did taste like orange and grape. Thanks for your help.
