I was camping around Ely Minnesota last week and went to a little Museum about Dorothy Molter. She was a lady who lived in the Boundary Waters in a cabin and sold her homemade rootbeer to passing by canoeists, she made the rootbeer using the lake water and for carbonation she used yeast. For more information go to this website http://www.canoecountry.com/dorothy/dorothy.html
There is also now a publicitised version of her rootbeer sold by the James Page Brewing Company website (http://www.pagebrewing.com)
