View Full Version : FRAWG by Pepsi at 7-11 is amazing stuff

08-12-2005, 04:09 PM
just got a 32oz FRAWG at my local 7-11 (in the frawg logo'd up cup)..

and its amazing!

it tastes like if the people who made mountain dew decided they wanted to do what they did for citrus, with apples..

could easily be thrown into the Mountain Dew lineup as a flavor extension, but it doesnt really taste like dew or have any citrus, so better off they decided to give it its own name.

if they had this stuff in diet in 12packs, I'd go thru a 12pack a week.

In Mex. Pepsi sells a green colored green apple soda too: Manzanita Sol verde, it tastes really good!

I didn't like it.

I got another 32oz of it tonight; simply love it.

I liked it, I thought it tasted like green apple cream soda.

yah my gf kinda said she tasted some bubble gum in there..

its definately more than apple, apple is the base and they've got some other tasty stuff inthere as well.

Like they say.... To each his own. smile.gif

Just had some last night.
I would not say it is a pure apple soda.
(As said earlier)Its like Moutain Dew Apple..Almost. Very refreshing citrus with a hint of apple.

Though I still think apple fanta is fantastic apple soda product out there!

I taste more of a cream soda/bubble gum/apple flavor foremost, and then a hint of mt dew like citrus in there, but not much.

Its a great flavor because nobody can really tell what it is; it just tastes interesting and good.

And talking about apple sodas... Pepsi released today another crazy product: Manzanita Sol Exotika (exotic), that is a mix of apple and tamarindo (crazy combination but not exotic as the name says), I tried it a few minutes ago and IMO this is the most sweetless apple soda that I ever tried, and is difficult to notice the tamarindo flavor.

I thought it was nasty. They could have made it taste more like green apple

Possibly I had some bad drink., I never tasted a green apple. I don't know what it was. I will try it again.

Ramon, the tamarind flavor is very popular in Latin America, but I think it's disgusting! I don't know how you all drink it!

I tried Frawg yesterday, and I did not like it. I did not taste citrus, and I barely tasted apple. I noticed a strange spicy taste with the slightest hint of green apple.

I wouldn't get it again.

I just saw an ad for Frawg last night. It's a limited edition flavor.

If you noticed, Pepsi recently launched new flavors only available in fountains: Mt. Dew Baja Blast, Mt. Dew Blue Shock, Frawg... Maybe it's a cheap way to launch new flavors without spending in bottles, caps and labels.

SEV, you're right, Tamarindo fruit in Mexico is very popular, there's tamarindo candies, pulps and also in sodas, for example here we have tamarindo sodas like Jarritos, Mundet, Tri-Soda... and in the new version of Manzanita Sol as I said before...

Ramon, your idea about testing sodas in a fountain instead of cans or bottles makes a lot of sense. I wish this was used more so that more radical flavors could be tested without the financial fallout.

I've tried the tamarindo Jarritos, and I actually liked it at one time. I thought it tasted like raisin soda.

I've been to Juarez, and there I tried many different tamarind candies and even chewed on a tamarind seed.

No puedo ver la magia en el tamarindo.

I think that fountain drinks are more or less impulse buyers of soda pop. New flavors are displayed right at eye level where most people need to scan to select a flavor. As it has been said, it's easier marketing for the companies.

Some people (not us LOL) do not pay attention to POP marketing or even walk down the pop isle. End case sales are very big. So putting forth a roll out of a new unknown brand would be better served by a fountain test or roll out.

Well put, Zabe.

Ramon, no there exists no raisin soda. But if there did, it would taste like Jarritos tamarindo.

Oooh, I get it, I thought that you've tried raisin soda, but no, you said that if a raisin soda would exist, would taste like a tamarindo soda. Now I understand.

BTW, you have to try Mexican Fanta tamarindo, it's great!

Not to be picky, but "raisin" is french for "grape". So this "raisin" soda is really grape.

I seriously doubt there is a soda flavored with raisins. And by raisins, I mean dried grapes.

"Merci" for explain that to me! Unfortunately we have few "raisin" sodas here in Mex: Fanta (only in Hermosillo), Barrilitos and Crush. BTW here's the pic of the new Tamarindo-Apple Manzanita Sol that I mentioned some posts ago, the bottle is not so noticeable but that's the only pic I could find:

I agree, what bottle? Any soda pop displayed that way would be tasty. LOL
