I just saw a commercial for Edge that mentioned "sweetened with Splenda brand sweetener" and zoomed in on the Splenda logo on the can. Is this new? I thought Edge used generic sucralose before.

Edge is a blend. (You might be thinking of Diet RC, which isn't blended with sugar) Egde has 70 calories per can, sucralose and "HFCS and/or sugar". Have yet to see the "Splenda" name brand on any Edge packaging around here though.

maybe the newer ones say splenda on them. or it is a test market thing. but I am going with the thought of the newer packaging having the word splenda on it.

you would be surprised the increase in sales with that word on it for most people that do not follow soda too much yet know splenda is safer.

So was it ever answered? Is the "Splenda" callout just a marketing move on the packaging or did the formula change?

andy I knew that...I just meant that Edge doesn't have Aspartame or Ace-K.

Formula has not changed. They are just pushing the name name Splenda. Splenda is a name consumers are becoming aware of, Surcalose is still a confusing term for most.

The only brand of sucralose is Splenda as they still own the patent. Pepsi Edge doesn't have aspratame, Coke C2 does.

On the topic of Edge, I think its too sweet, I wish they would cut some of the sweetness.

After drinking C2, I think even Pepsi is a bit too sweet but much better than Classic Coke. While I like Pepsi, I think C2 tastes far better.
