An article on savesurge.org says that Vault will begin a test run on June 1st. It will be availible in the fallowing states...
-North Carolina
-South Carolina
My question is: Why is Coke releasing Vault in the Mello Yello areas?(Except Michigan)

05-23-2005, 01:20 PM
Thanks for the info! I'll keep a lookout for it!

05-23-2005, 03:24 PM
I *think* Coca-Cola Consolidated is a big part of the release so that's why it's mainly in the southeast. I've also heard that Indiana may be getting Vault as well.

We started a special section of the site today dedicated to Vault News & Reviews. We received a review from a guy who tasted it at the U. of Michigan and said it was exactly like SURGE. Still, I'm interested to taste this for myself to see if it really is similar.

05-23-2005, 11:25 PM
They actually have Mellow Yellow Fountain in a McDonalds in Chelsea, MI. And sometimes they have Mellow Yellow 12pks in Jackson.

05-24-2005, 12:21 AM
i'm working on getting a sample, just for posterity purposes before it comes out.

tis exciting, no?

05-24-2005, 06:57 AM
Does anyone know what the logo looks like or have a picture of a can or bottle we could see?

05-25-2005, 11:00 AM
Here is a logo:

05-25-2005, 05:40 PM
That logo is terrible!

Mr Zabe
05-25-2005, 06:05 PM
That has to be a preliminary label.
It looks like some kind of gymnastic
cult water mark. LOL

05-25-2005, 08:08 PM
Yeah, that soda isn't going to sell with that label.

05-26-2005, 02:22 AM
Hey guys!, wait to see the rest of the label and then you can judge the label! Maybe is just a prototype...

Thats not a logo for a sneaker is it?

05-27-2005, 02:22 AM
Can't wait to try this stuff when it comes out, thankfully I'm in one of the states listed for early release smile.gif

tuesday. i saw my coke man walkin around with a button and a hat on. he had the button on the hat, and it was blinking, so of course he looked ridiculous.

05-27-2005, 09:15 PM
After seeing the bottle it seems to me they are completely emulating Surge except the logo stinks. So I say BRING BACK SURGE THEN!

Mr Zabe
05-27-2005, 09:37 PM
I still think the Vault logo looks more like some kind of designer sports drink you would buy at a posh health club. LOL

Why not promote the heck out of Surge and leave a good product be. This new product/label looks scary.

It's no worse than the first Surge logo.

05-28-2005, 06:06 PM
Who the hell designed that godawful bottle?

05-28-2005, 08:36 PM
logo's fine...

05-28-2005, 09:57 PM
Logo... Cool!
Bottle... Cool!

Taste... It has to be great!

05-28-2005, 11:13 PM
In the Greensboro area, Vault is supposed to be released June 6. Last Wed. we recieved sales tags for it. If it came in this week, it would be 4/$10 for the 12 packs.

05-29-2005, 01:20 AM
Thought they said only 20oz bottles would come first not 12 packs?

05-29-2005, 08:02 PM
has any one seen it in west central tn as stated by this map in the yellow? http://www.cokeconsolidated.com/map.html

05-29-2005, 11:59 PM
I thought someone on the savesurge board said they had found some in TN somewhere, may want to try there.

05-30-2005, 10:32 AM
I've heard that it's in Oak Ridge and Knoxville in 20oz bottles smile.gif

It is. 89 cents each. Saw them last weekend. They weren't selling, and silly me didn't buy any, either.

05-30-2005, 08:52 PM
I checked 10 gas stations around the area today and didn't see any, gonna have to wait till Wednesday I guess.

05-31-2005, 08:44 PM
We have Vault in Michigan now. A local store has 20oz. 2/$1.00. I seldom buy a citrus soda but this stuff is really good.

06-01-2005, 12:30 AM
fools are tricking me, with signs up infront of the gas station but no vault inside :(

06-01-2005, 10:15 AM
Where in Michigan did you find it? I live in the Ann Arbor area.

God, I hope Wal Mart and Eckerd get it first so I can just find it and get it overwith! Usualy in my parts Wal Mart, Eckerd and Farm Fresh gets new sodas in first.

06-02-2005, 07:28 PM
you guys are kinda crazy to be taking road trips that far for a soda. I mean, wont it be in your hometown in just a few days later?

Now my ****** friend Brian, he road trips for soda.

06-02-2005, 09:50 PM
When will it come to Minnesota?

06-02-2005, 09:52 PM
i'll make border runs for anyone in illinois or indiana, for a little surcharge but nothing gouging.

06-02-2005, 09:52 PM
or ohio too, for that matter

06-02-2005, 11:15 PM
it's being produced out of GR for now. GR ships a lot to other states from what i understand, so it's a wise production point incase it will expand further south into indiana and illinois.

06-03-2005, 05:12 PM
We have gotten a few "niche" products from Grand Rapids before. Hopefully they will ship in a truckload of Vault.

06-04-2005, 12:23 AM
Vault probably won't make into my area for months so I figured I'd take a trip. I hope it's worth it!

06-04-2005, 12:59 AM
I'm heading for DC tomorrow...I might have to make a few stops on the way. I'll actually be staying in Silver Spring MD and have a special request for Mistic waiting for me at a Shoppers Food Warehouse. I'll have to check them out too.
Lessee....6 cases of Mistic (3 different flavors), and maybe a few of Vault?

06-04-2005, 12:59 AM
Can anyone get me some Vault?
And does anyone know when/if CCE is planning on getting vault. No one at my local plant has even heard of it.

06-04-2005, 01:55 AM
As for the logo, it doesn't matter what it looks like, it just matters what's on the inside. Just like the saying that you can't judge a book by its cover. Personnally, I think the logo looks pretty cool, but when it comes to Kentucky, I'm not going to buy Vault to get the logo. I'm gonna buy it to taste it. Anyone who decides not to buy Vault just because they think the logo is stupid has some major problems. If you don't like it, just rip it off and drink the pop.

06-04-2005, 09:19 PM
I got to try some today as they finally got it in. Kinda reminds me sort of like a mix between mello yello and mountain dew, maybe a tiny bit different. Doesn't remind me too much of Surge. I think Surge had a little more lime taste and wasn't as sweet tasting. Still not bad.

06-05-2005, 12:43 PM
Well, what the heck do some of you think of it?

I tried it yesterday in Michigan. Not bad. I dont' remember exactly what Surge tasted like, but I'm pretty sure it's very similar. Liked it fairly well, though I'm a cola drinker, and will probably buy it above others if its on sale. Havent' seen it in 2L or packs yet.

06-05-2005, 01:36 PM
Well right now since they are testing it out in select states it's only gonna be in 20oz bottles. Not sure if that means a grocery store is gonna have it in the 6 pack bottles but I sure hope it comes to that or cans very soon.

06-05-2005, 06:22 PM
To check out whats going on in the world of Vault check out the page Eric and I made on SaveSURGE

Here's my mini review:

SaveSURGE Take's- Avery's Review.

So whats the word on Vault? Here's Avery's look at the new citrus soda:

Amazing! Its like SURGE at first but then mellows out alittle more while still retaining that strong SURGE-like initial bite. All in all I think its just great and I wish all SURGE lovers could taste this and rejoice. Its not quite SURGE but its darn close. Here are some low res pix from my celly.

Just wondering how many bottles or six packs of bottles did you and your editorial staff buy? I bet the check-out clerk never saw two young adults lick a soda pop bottle in the check out line. LOL :D

I say party on Garth and enjoy!! May the Vault be with you. BURP SPEED AHEAD!!!!!

i like the bottle AND logo. VERY KEWL!

i don't really drink Mt. Dew, and probably won't drink Vault either, but... it looks like Coke may be finally taking on Mt. Dew seriously. it won't be easy though... Mt. Dew is like a cult. ha ha ha.

06-06-2005, 12:55 PM
So, I went all the way to Roanoke, VA this weekend for NOTHING! I s**** with someone at the bottler facility in Roanoke just 2 days before, and they assured me that Vault would be out during the weekend. I went to over a dozen stores and not one place had any sign of it. One clerk did tell me that they expected it next week. Oh well, there's 500+ miles of driving gone to waste!

06-06-2005, 01:49 PM
aw. sorry to hear that, but... wow! that's a long way to go for soda.

i just walked around the block looking for Zero. LOL.

i was gonna walk about five blocks... to the drug store (which usually gets new things first), but... just decided to wait.

i'll try again tomorrow. smile.gif

06-06-2005, 08:02 PM
This whole Vault thing seems a lot like Surge. First the packaging is werid just like Surge was, the add campaign seems to be going that way as well. And from the reports thus far, the taste is very similar plus and the color is just a bit lighter.

Pretty much Coke gave the Surge lovers what they wanted in a new form so they can try to get the rest of the public again.

06-08-2005, 02:42 AM
Does anyone know if Vault can be found around the Nashville area of Tennessee? I live out of state and that is about as far as I am willing to go for a day trip.

06-08-2005, 11:16 AM
I'd guess it would be in nashville by now, why not try and contact somewhere in the area and see if they have it.

06-08-2005, 11:59 AM
The taste is a lot like any citrus Mt. Dew / Mello Yello soda, but it has a strong "bite" that Surge had. All in all, I think Surge fans will be happy. Good stuff!

06-08-2005, 06:03 PM
Found it finally in SE Michigan. The Farmer Jack in Chelsea, MI had 20oz. Still waiting for mine to cool down.

06-09-2005, 09:05 PM
It's all over Roanoke VA & Lexington VA. Tastes more like Livewire than Surge to me.

06-09-2005, 09:37 PM
I didn't see any in the DC area at all, but saw some in Burlington, NC today at Wal-Mart while I was getting my concert pics developped. I tried it, but it tasted to me like Mello Yello. Then again, I have a bit of a cold. I'll try some later.

Fusion, In the stores - is there more Mello Yello or Vault?

06-09-2005, 10:40 PM
Tons of Vault in Kroger, at 79ยข. Some Wal-Marts had entire coolers dedicated to it.

I also stopped at a travel plaza, and they had a whole shelf of Vault.

Overall, I'd say Vault is getting a LOT more action than Mello Yello.

I'm going to try it on Saturday when I get to Myrtle Beach. I can't wait, it sounds amazing.

06-09-2005, 11:46 PM
They have it in cans now at walmart in the machines outfront. I think the cans taste a little more lemony than the plastic bottles but a smoother overall taste. Someone posted a picture of the 12pack on savesurge.org but I have yet to see them in the Walmart's around here.

06-10-2005, 03:49 PM
Ok, just got some of this stuff. It is excellent! Very similar to SURGE smile.gif

http://www.savesurge.com/surge/eric_vault.shtml WOW! Eric's very lucky!, I wish that somebody that works from Coca-Cola here in Mexico would do something like that to me, like giving me 2 cases of Coke and promotional stuff!

The same happened to me with Coca-Cola vainilla, they gave me two cases of CC Vainilla cans but I had to pay 240 pesos (24 bucks).

I bought some from a dude in AL and it's quite good. Not at all like LiveWire, in my opinion. Very SURGE-like. Definitely smells like SURGE (and dnL): lime-y. Nice orange-y finish. Highly recommended.

I hope it goes national, so I don't have to go to extreme lengths to get it.

06-13-2005, 10:16 PM
I said it reminded of Livewire because of the very strong orange taste.. though it lacks the candy-like overall taste of Livewire.

It's no Mountain Dew, but it is a good drink in its' own right. savesurge.org has pictures of 2L and fridgepacks.. all I saw in Virginia were the 20oz and single cans in a vending machine.

06-13-2005, 10:41 PM
Its popping up in 2L now in select areas. No fountains yet.

Coke has also admitted to us at SaveSURGE of the massive role SURGE fans have had in bringing Vault to life.

06-13-2005, 10:44 PM
And the flavor of this is..............?

06-13-2005, 10:55 PM
Looks like I'm going to be making a trip to Lexington on my next day off...

06-13-2005, 11:17 PM
havent seen it or coke zero yet here in NY

06-13-2005, 11:18 PM
hey heres a good question - how come they dont have a website or any information ******, or some type of radio or tv ads? Is this supposed to be the secret soda?

Hollow Man
06-14-2005, 12:26 AM
As a big fan of orange type sodas, I always found Livewire to be too Dew-y and not orange-y enough for my taste.

VAULT and SURGE are much more subtle in their flavor - they're more complex overall.

The soda isn't a secret, but it is in limited markets right now, so that explains why they haven't gone nuts on advertising.

The Interpreter
06-14-2005, 07:45 AM
Products in test markets do not have advertising that might leak into markets not covered by the test..thus the no web site, etc.

06-16-2005, 05:16 PM
Coke is forcin' it's java script on me. And I dunno why they bothered to change Mellow Yellow's name to Vault.

06-19-2005, 01:38 AM
I just heard a commercial on the radio for Vault in NC. I have not seen any around here though. LOL

06-19-2005, 01:49 AM
I heard a Vault radio add in Myrtle Beach. "Drink's like a soda, Kicks like an Energy drink" From what I have seen, Coke is doing a good job of promoting the brand in South Carolina. I saw a lot of individual Vault coolers, and all the Coke coolers had stickers on them: Try Vault! A couple of Coke Machines even has baloon Vault bottles on Top of them. I think Coke is for real this time. Watch your back Mountain Dew.

Watch your back, Mountain Dew? In The Coca-Cola Company's dreams, maybe. Vault will probably be about as successful as Storm, Surge, Teem, Slice and all the others that have come and, for the most part, gone...

Mountain Dew has been a huge success for Pepsi, for many reasons, not all of them well understood, even by Pepsi.

And where is the diet Vault, or perhaps the Vault Zero, I might ask...
