Does anybody know what happened to this rootbeer? I haven't seen it in years. Looked it up online and Amazon had it for $24.00 a 6 pack.

OMG that's pricey! Don't order from Amazon. Sometimes I think they are a little pricey. I havn't seen Hires in awhile but I know it's still around there are plenty of sites to order it from like the Pop shop or just type it on your search and you can find places that sell it cheaper. Hires is yummy. Good luck.

Hires has been pushed to the bottom. Cadbury is focusing on A&W instead. If you look, you will find it in some places, you just have to travel out of your area.

Hires is indeed extremely rare. But i know one store where i can buy it, and I suppose thats all one really needs.

My best friend and I went to Statesville, NC a few weeks back and we were shocked to see 20 oz. bottles of it at this one gas station. We didn't see it anywhere else in any type of packaging, so I don't know what the deal was. Before that, we had only seen it in 2-liter bottles in Myrtle Beach, SC.

It's bottled by Temple Bottling Co. and is available throughout central Texas, but the distribution is still kinda spotty, I've only seen it in a few places.

Weis Supermarkets here in MD have it in 12 oz. cans, 20 oz. PET and 2 liter bottles. Same for Orange Crush, which is only in the 12 oz. bottles elsewhere.

Walmart used to sell it and Crush 12oz glass.

Apparently Temple no longer bottles Hires. (according to an email reply from them)

BTW, the Hires 20oz bottles from Hometown Favorites are bottled by Independent Beverage Corp, Charlotte, NC (code NC). The date codes on some I just received are 7198 and 7251, so not too bad.

I am surprised they responded to your email, I rarely get any type of response from bottling companies.

The Crush, Hires, Vernors in MD is from Beverage Network in Jessup.

I've had Temple reply to me one time about bottling Dr. Pepper but they wouldn't answer me about not using HFCS, because the Temple Dr. Pepper that we have here has HFCS in it.

I actually received a bunch of it just before Christmas. I ordered some different sodas from Hometown Favorites and they shipped me a 6-pack of Polar Lime Raspberry Seltzer instead of the Polar Raspberry Lime Soda I had ordered. When I called them, the immediately apologized and said they'd ship out a replacement order. To my surprise, when I received my order, not only did it include the 6-pack of Polar Raspberry Lime Soda, but also another box full of about 14 bottles of 20 oz. Hires Root Beer - I suppose to apologize for the mix-up. It's great - very smooth going down. We're still enjoying it. I was, indeed, surprised, as the weight of the box was a lot and I'm sure just the shipping for that alone was quite expensive. Anyway - they must have some if you want to order any online!

I am not sure where in OHIO you are at but I purchased a twelve pack from Jungle Jims right outside Cincinnati for $7.99. I think I posted pictures a few posts back.

Chicago has Dad's in cans (fridge packs).

What's so significant about Dad's in cans as opposed to glass bottles?

<Smart ass remark to follow.LOL>...Some like Twinkies and others like Hohos.

IMO... Cans are easy and convenient when brown bagging it at work.
Cans are IMO easier for entertaining / parties at one's home.
Some like cans in general just as a matter of personal taste.

I like cans because I can get them super cold and the carbonation
seems to be stronger. I also use cans because of the weekly hot
fridge pack sales.

I was trying to be subtle and sway "Dad's fan" into buying from me. As I know the cans aren't sold around here. Although I did find a place that has the plastic bottles of root beer, cream soda, blue cream and red cream.

Whereas I can only get the root beer, cream and orange and cream.

I would opt for the cans because they're cheaper, but when not available. I fall into the beggers can't be choosers category.

I don't mind buying bottles but the 1 liters go flat too fast and I wish that someone would make the 16oz. bottles again that's why I like the cars just the right amount. Is your place a store or on line?

I'm in North Minneapolis, I sel online but once in a while people will swing by to purchase a case or two of mixed root beers or whatever they desire. I currently have the 12 oz. glass bottles of Dad's.

Dr. Pepper is so good, I'd be willing to drink it even with the hfcs. In fact, I think that's what makes it taste so good!
