I have heard from a pepsi salesperson that slice was coming back. tropicana isn't selling and is going away.

Can anyone tell me all of the flavors slice has had? I thought I remeber an apple flavor in the late 80's, but no one else seems to remember.

Am I crazy?

Was there ever an Apple Slice???

Yes there was an Apple Slice, which was the best apple soda I have ever tasted. The other Slice flavors were: Lemon Lime, Cherry, Pineapple, Orange, Fruit Punch, Peach, Grape, Strawberry, Red Slice, Lemonade and the best one of all Dr Slice.

Man, I would be so happy to see Slice come back.
I still can't figure out how Pepsi mismanaged that brand. Lemon lime Slice rocks. smile.gif

I never got a chance to try some of the flavors, but I would love to if they come back. Was Dr. Slice ever in wide production? The only ones I can recall ever seeing around here would have been the Orange and Lemon/Lime.

Dr Slice was pretty regional. Wis-Pak in Wisconsin was probably the last one making it.

That 10% juice cherry cola Slice sounds really good.

Around here, we had Orange/Mandarin Orange (reg/diet), Lemon-Lime, and Grape.

would slice mean the end of sierra mist? isn't sierra mist an lemon-lime drink?

fusion

I can't see them bringing back Lemon-lime slice, with Sierra Mist now a top-ten soda. They'll just bring back the flavors - but I wonder if they all will be coming back.

so slice is going to be pepsi's fanta. and sierra mist will be pepsi's sprite.

we had orange & diet orange slice = i havent heard about slice coming back though - i would like it to come back, orange slice is great and tropicana twister doesnt sell at all

i think people prefer their orange juice (tropicana, minute maid) separate from their soda. i think it cheapens the credibility of the juice product... regardless of how the soda tastes.

I see your point but IMO the average consumer of OJ brand juices does not make the connection with OJ juice flavored soda pops. Most consumers know that soda pop in general is sugar water and not even remotely simular to a 100% OJ products.

I do agree that a handful of us beverage/soda pop/liquid drink junkies would think the way
you have described. Face it us B.S.L. junkies are a very special breed. LOL

You sure he wasn't talking about Slice ONE? I don't think Tropicana Twister is leaving us just yet. I've actually heard about a new flavor coming to some markets this summer...

But keep in mind that there were also plans for two other Minute Maid juice-added sodas that never saw the light of day, due to the line being scrapped for Fanta.

Well...I'm on the inside and there has been NO discussion around Slice coming back. In fact...mr jones is correct in saying there will be a new Trop Twister CSD flavor coming this summer. Aside from that...my best GUESS is that Slice ONE may expand from its current Wal-Mart only status to the mainstream market...

I thought Slice was pretty much dead, but I guess it could always happen. Has the Slice One experiment been very successful so far?

Back to the question at the top of this thread, about Apple Slice. The other night when I was putting back that old Cherry Cola Slice vending machine insert in my drawer full of soda stuff, I found some more inserts kicking around. Here's the vending machine inserts for Apple and Diet Apple slice, plus Mandarin Orange (plus that Cherry Cola one again)

There were a lot of production shortages with the Slice One. I never even saw it anywhere around here. PBG had none to sell to the indie Pepsi distributor in the area I work in, either.

here, slice one is flowing out of our ears! we have too much at wal mart and then its at all major grocery stores...

In my opinion it would be smart to bring back
the slice flavors. Instead of just bringing back orange and grape which is mainly what fanta makes here.

They could bring out apple, cherry cola and others. The 10% juice would make people think they are healthy and people would drink them.

Slice One suddenly popped up in my Wal-Mart over the past month

I was on my way back to the shop from a day on the road when I decided to stop at a Shell station for something to drink. I went to the fountain to see what they had. To my surprise, I saw Orange Slice. I thought to myself, "Wasn't Slice discontinued?" I decided to buy some. It was pretty good.

today, i went into a local pizzeria, and thay had added slice to the fountain...

Its probably not Slice in the fountains...just an old sticker...more than likely you're drinking Twister Orange...

Rob The SURGE Drinker

yeah, and they wouldnt let me look at the bag of suryp...

LOL..that's kind of funny though. I can imagine being in the store worker's shoes and having someone ask to see the BIB...

yeah, they kinda looked at me, and said, i dont think i can let you do that... lol

My guess is that they didn't let you look becuse of where keep their syrup. When I delivered for Pepsi I saw some pretty out of way places some places kept their BIB's, and some ones that were very close to the fountain. I think I'd have just asked them to look in their storeroom for what was written on their spare BIB for that flavor.

Some people just really don't care about stuff like that. If you push the button, and orange soda comes out, that's pretty much all that matters.

Yeah, sorry to say that swapping an old sticker wouldn't be too high on the priority list...if the owner of the establishment asked for it to be changed, it would be.

A local gas station that has been around only 2 years has both Slice Orange and Mr Pibb (not Xtra) stickers on the fountain.

Speaking of Slice ONE...

My girlfriend and I stopped in at our local Wally World to do some shopping. We saw the Slice ONE beverages and bought one of each flavor. The orange soda is very good...much better than that flat Fanta Zero. My girlfriend likes the berry soda. The grape soda is good, too.
