Does anyone know where I can get Nehi Grape in Chicago? I'm having a M*A*S*H party and I'd love to serve Nehi Grape.
Thanks.

There is a grocery/deli, "Gourmet Pantry", at 155 N. Michigan Ave. that had Nehi grape and orange in cans.

It's probably too late for your party by now, but I was at a store called "The MarketPlace" on Diversey just east of Clark St. They had 4 or 5 different flavors of Nehi, including Grape. 3 bucks a six pack.

Get your NEHI fast cuz once its gone it will be gone, Royal Crown of Chicago is no more, american bottling just bought it up and Nehi is gonna go bye bye.

Is American bottling getting rid of old town also and is RC going to still distribute products?

RC, A&W and their products will be combined into Dr Pepper, 7UP, and the stuff ABC has in Chicago. It will mean a whole lot more Sunkist, and you can kiss Nehi goodbye.

Where does this leave Nehi left? The bottler in Paragould, AR, and CCE-New Orleans?

RC/Big Red - Tri-State Bottlers in Evansville, IN run Nehi flavors.

From what I understand, ABC is just buying RC Chicago's RC, A&W, and other DPSU product franchises. Which to me means that they will still produce Old Towne.

AFAIK, West Jefferson also still runs Nehi in longnecks.

Doesn't a bottler somewhere in Mississippi run Nehi?

Will ABC add Cherry RC since it was big in the Chicago area?

Independent Beverages in Charlotte still produces Nehi grape, orange and peach in cans (peach also in 20oz/2L) and Dr Pepper in West Jefferson has the same flavors in glass 12oz.

why exactly did they sell out? i remember seeing A&W, NEHI vending machines for crying out loud. it seems like both abc and rc were doing bangup business in chitown, a city for the underdogs (miller).

This is a very uneducated guess.

The Chicago market is very much so dominated by Coke and Pepsi products. The two major chain grocery stores are now selling a full line up of their private label pop.

I do see maybe 1 or 2 facings of RC products but
NeHi is not available. Royal Crown was taken over by American Beverages. My guess is that American Beverages has been producing private label pop for both Safe Way (Dominic's) and Albertson (Jewel). It would make sense that AB would have agreements to not compete with these off brand pops.

A.B. sells Dr Pepper/7up, Old Town in the Chicago market as well. Please set me straight if I am wrong. smile.gif

I just saw fountain Grape NEHI at White Castles.
They used to have Welsch Grape pop with IMO is probably the best grape pop I have had via the 12oz can or fountain.

ABC makes all of meijer's private label

Funny....Meijer sugar pop is sweetened by just corn syrup only and so is Safeway's. Albertsons uses corn syrup and or sugar. For private label,
I prefer Albertsons.

Thanks for the heads up,
Zabe

Thanks for the heads up,
Zabe that's a labeling discretion. the soda industry is the only industry allowed to use the phrasing "and/or" with regards to sweeteners. it's all made with HFCS, unless it's a small company like boylans etc...

I've seen Nehi peach in bottles at the gas station down the street, although they have some other rare stuff in bottles as well.
