I am looking for some help in finding the closest place to buy Mr. Pibb in proximity to the Western PA area. Preferably in can or bottle form.

It depends do you want Mr Pibb or the other stuff.

If you are talking about Pibb Xtra that is fine. I will take what I can get.

Oh okay I thought you were talking about Mr.Pibb

The closest to Western PA isn't going to be easy. I don't know if you live in Western PA or not, but around Pittsburgh, CCE does Dr Pepper. It is nonexistent in Western PA. Greene County down in the southwestern corner of the state should have it, as product is from Consolidated's Morgantown sales center. There should be a large amount of it too.
The next closest areas would be Steubenville, OH from CCE (was there once, not there last time I was there in November '04), or possibly Erie. I do know ABARTA doesn't bother in Cleveland w/it.
In areas outside of immediate Pittsburgh where CCE is the product bottler, Eastern Great Lakes just deals w/a shotty lineup w/o Pibb or Pepper, in some spots carries Canada Dry, and otherwise gets manhandled by PBG, and ABC even (It's arguable in some places, like Indiana County, if CCE is running 3rd to PBG and ABC).

Thanks for the info you have given. It is most helpful and I will reply if I find anything out.

The problem is there's really no legitimate supermarket in Greene County. Waynesburg is the county seat, a small college town with only a Mor for Less (which is a different version of a Save-a-Lot type of store). I don't know if there's any independents there or not, but you'd end up in either a c-store or something else.
I'd say just ride down to Morgantown. I know Kroger, Giant Eagle, Shop n Save, Food Lion and Super Kmart all have Pibb Xtra in stock, 2L, Fridge Pack, or 20 oz.

I actually did find a Giant Eagle in Waynesburg. I called them but they said they didn't carry it. I will continue to pursue the Morgantown suggestion.

Always thought there should have been a Giant Eagle there. Shows how much I know.

I have successfully driven down to Morgantown, and I have found Pibb. Thanks for what you have told me, and I appreciate it.

All Utah has is Pibb Xtra. I really don't see the difference between it and Dr Pepper though and it's not very popular; people only drink it when there is no Dr Pepper available. As for Mr Pibb, I didn't even know they made it anymore. It certainly was better than Dr Pepper and I wish it was still around.

You should just be happy there is Pibb Xtra where you are and you don't have to drive 2 hours to get it. You don't know how much trouble trying to find some caused me.

I live in Pittsburgh as well and want to know where Mr. Pibb is nearest and not Pibb Extra. The real Mr. Pibb. Can anyone help?

The "real" Mr. Pibb was replaced with Pibb Xtra a few years ago.
03-10-2005, 05:40 PM
Is it replaced everywhere?
03-19-2005, 05:28 PM
anyone know if it is replaced throughout the whole country?

I am almost 100% sure it was, i haven't seen regular mister pibb where i live in virginia in years. Pibb Xtra is all over the place. I had to have it last night at dinner because outback dosen't carry DP.

Mr Pibb was replaced by Pibb Xtra. Nationwide. Mr Pibb is dead.
Drive to Morgantown for Pibb Xtra. None in Pittsburgh (CCE bottles Dr Pepper, as mentioned above). They quit selling it in Steubenville, OH, as Twinsburg's facility quit making it.

The vast majority of Virginia has it espically where I live in southwestern. Food Lion had it on special this week for 69 cent two liters and 4 for 10 fridge packs.

Plently of Pibb all over Maryland, southern Delaware, DC, and parts of Virginia controlled by CCE. Central Coke also has it in their areas.
CCE just has it in 20oz and 12 packs, though.

Central has a little more Pibb than CCE. We have 2L's as well. Central territory in MD is the western 3 counties.
