View Full Version : Who Else LOVES the Jones Company?
09-19-2003, 07:02 PM
I just thought I'd be fair to a little company with a solid product line, considering all the rancor on the other topic thread.
Jones seems to have tightened the belts and ramped up for big sales next quarter. All those whom have been predicting the demise of Jones (including myself) appear to have been quite wrong, indeed. My hat's off to them.

440 posts for hate and none for love (xept this one) the people have spoken.

Not to sound stupid, but what is the Jones company? And why don't people like it?
10-24-2003, 03:30 PM
No one has really ever said why they hate the Jones Soda Company, just complained and said that they hate them. I know why I don't like them. I think the drink tastes bad. I don't care for the bottles either.

Interesting how on the thread 'who LOVES the Jones Company' all of the chatter is about curiosity over why people hate it. So far no reasons have been giving for loving it, or for that matter, even liking it.
For those who are curious there is like the longest thread on this board that can entertain you for hours as to why people hate the company.
As for the people who haven't even heard of Jones, this is probably the result of their having disappeared from so many markets.
Now, talk about Dumb and Dumber... there's now some clown running around in LA trying to sell both Cool Mountain and Jones at the same time. Cool Mountain serves a purpose to cover some of the Jones flavors that other brands do not make, for those who feel they must have them; but selling them both? Is it legal to go bankrupt twice if it's simultaneous?

sodasmelly once again shows that he is nothing more than an ass. Jones has a nice line of products, a great following of fans and is a company moving ahead. Smelly keeps talking about them going under. He needs to take some exlax to control the diarrehea that spews from his mouth. They are a cool company. Earnings out oct 30 smellyone. Bet they make money a** w***. Check them out at www.jonessoda.com (http://www.jonessoda.com) and see for yourself.

I would be interested to see if they can get 2 consecutive quarters of possitive earnings. But see, that is part of the problem, lets say they made another couple hundred thousand dollars. They would still be about $10-$15 million under their overall break even point. So, they would need that positive cash flow for about the next 4 years or so to even break even. That is were the going under talk comes from. Hey, jones sells a lot of product, around $20 million worth a year. But if they keep loosing money, the only way they can stay open is if investors keep writing checks. If not, selling $20+ million a year, but loosing $21 million can not stay in busines.
10-26-2003, 12:21 AM
And I understand that Ron. It is my belief they will continue to turn a profit in the quarters ahead. Obviously more sales occur in spring and summer so expect those to be their strongest. If they can make a profit in the fall and winter or breakeven they are on their way. Obviously by the way their stock volume and price has shot up, they are catching investors attention. Not bad for a company which some on this thread were talking s..t about not long ago.
10-26-2003, 02:16 PM
Yes of course if it ends up worth what it was four or five years ago (not counting the bankrupt or pissed off distributors who probably wrote off losses which don't compute in this whole thing) then whoopdeedoo, break even. How about instead of having ever invested in that company, having put the money into a CD in the bank or invested in real estate 5 years ago? Much more secure and sound investments and much more money today...
10-26-2003, 11:04 PM
smelly, you are a moron. Do you not understand that if you break even in say fall and winter and make money in spring and summer you are a profitable company. Maybe you have been snorting your beverages instead of drinking them. It just kills you to see them making it...Well hahahahaha
10-27-2003, 07:29 PM
I would have to agree on the thought process. If you are a company growing, and your fall and winter numbers may not go up, but have held fairly solid to what the summer before was, then you are doing pretty good. Hold even in the offseason, and grow durring beverage time.
10-30-2003, 02:46 AM
Ron, need I remind you that they have been around for almost a decade and look at their history... Actually they have managed to pull themselves up recently from being virtually extinct but every time I run into someone who is an ex-Jones distributor I'm amazed at how many people are wandering around out there who say the same thing. These people are from different parts of the country and they all say basically the same thing with the geography and numbers differing. That does not paint a promising picture, even if there are occasional upward fluctuations here and there.
And yes ichiro you are right about one thing; it is slower for beverages in the winter; our growth slows down to almost stagnation for a few months until the heat hits again and then it goes out the roof.
Nice chatting with y'all... have a great Halloween and be sure to spritz your champagne with NECTRACIDE!!!
10-31-2003, 05:12 PM
Danny-say it ain't so. It's been heard through the grapevine that you actually sell Jones soda through your company. If you hate the product so much why would you even sell one case. Don't you have any morals? I understand you're in business to make money, but please tell us it ain't so!
11-05-2003, 11:50 PM
Clyde... per your request, IT AIN'T SO! I do not sell Jones. I sell lots of soda in Santa Monica so I'm sure if you go to the cool places in town you will see our stuff smile.gif
11-06-2003, 02:44 AM
its ok, there are plenty of places to purchase the jones products. The word is getting out, they are a company on the rise....not my opinion, just a fact....your hitting guru ichi man
11-06-2003, 11:34 AM
the only problem in LA is that since bottoms up beverage went belly up, they have lost significant sales. I believe Bottoms Up were up to about 8-9 trucks per month. Last I heard, Harilombos was at only about 2 trucks per month. Jones is on the road to recovery, they just have a lot of bridges the rebuild, and a lot more quarters to be profitable.

Why sell Jones when you can sell SumPoosie!
They new bottle models will be released and shown on the website www.sumpoosie.com (http://www.sumpoosie.com) on Thanksgiving Day. ;)
11-08-2003, 06:23 PM
Well, since Jones actually sells in most places, and not just strip clubs. The only concern with Jones would be when they will pull the brand from you. With Sumpossie it would be when are you going to sell through your first pallet?
11-09-2003, 01:31 AM
What can I say Ron...... you just want to come on here and talk crap.... what a shame. SumPoosie just continues to grow....get over it.
11-10-2003, 11:08 AM
continues to grow just like they continue to send out samples? I have not seen the product anywere. My distributors who carried it, don't any more. I have asked many times were in Northern CA can I get some, don't get any answers. Im not trying to talk crap, Im just saying you havent shown me anything to back up your claims of selling outside a few Dallas and Florida strip clubs.
11-10-2003, 11:50 PM
Firstr Ron thanks for talking to me like a human and second let me fill you in. SumPoosie is sold in Ohio, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Bahamas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arizona, and California. I grant you California is only LA county. Not bad for a company only 1 year old. NJ and Pennsylvania are next week so I am sorry you are familiar with it but you know what....... this is what I feel this site should be for. Any help you can provide me I will pass on to corporate. We would love to find some good distribution in CA. Any help will bring hats, shirts, and SumPoosie!!! :D
11-11-2003, 07:11 PM
Thanks for the answers. If I ever see a bottle in any of thoes areas, I will try it and let you know how it tastes.
11-12-2003, 01:37 AM
I have tried SumPoosie and yes I say it tastes pretty good. Also I did see a bottle of it with that new cap and of course I had to have that and I drank it again and it tasted good again. Now some salesman from SumPoosie named Jaime I think has promised me about a dozen times to send me a case of it so I can hand some out to all of my distributors and to a few of my choice clients. That case has never arrived. Nobody is going to buy a trailerload of the product at that price without being able to judge its potential. But hey anyway I notice how once again, a thread implying 'who loves the Jones Company' quickly goes off onto another tangent and there are probably more posts about SumPoosie than Jones in this thread. Welll no surprise since SumPoosie tastes better than the best flavor of Jones and has a much cooler label... and now, cap!!! :D
11-12-2003, 10:59 AM
hahaha smelly, its ok, any of your comments towards jones carry no merit since you cannot be fair in your analysis. Anyone with a clue can see you definitely got poosy on your brain, since no other thoughtful ideas have emerged..now go pop your viagra and stare at your bottle and cap.....
11-25-2003, 07:37 PM
ichiro, nothing but attacks out of you? makes everyone want to scream, "go jones!" doesn't it?
i had two bubblegum's today.
11-25-2003, 08:41 PM
little guy, sorry but people who bash without trying a product or who have personal vendettas aren't fair minded. Ron, who has his problems with jones, is at least fair minded.
11-25-2003, 10:53 PM
So now Ron is fair-minded? I guess he must have decided to buy some more stock or something. I have tried Jones, many flavors, in fact; and I thought they were all like overly-brixed carbonated Kool Aid. Ron is a nice guy but he can be quite the follower; if he's your employee and subscribes to your propaganda then he will be more of an asset to you than Rosco P. Coltrane was to Boss Hogg!
11-26-2003, 02:08 AM
na smelly, you got it wrong. Ron can like the product, but he had a few grips with them. I read his posts with a fair mind to what he is saying because i think he is fair in applauding and criticising. I believe you blast just to blast. So your credibility to me is zero. comprenda??
11-26-2003, 12:04 PM
Danny, think about what you are saying there. I have been fair minded towards Jones. No, I have not purchased any more stock, no I do not work for them, and no I will not follow anyone elses lead other that what I feel is nessesary to do. If you pay attention, I do indead blast Jones on many occations, but only were it seemed deserving. I will not blast just to blast, as you have on many occations. Lets not get lost in the message, Jones is neither one of our favorite companies. But I will not attack them at every courner. If they are doing good, you have to give them props. If they are continualy doing bad, then its open season. Just make sure there is merit to the attack or it will hold no water.
11-27-2003, 11:00 AM
Actually Ron on another Jones area I did mention that they did deserve some credit for putting crown caps on their thanksgiving collecting bottles. Actually if they were to go back to all of the bankrupt and dumped stepping-stone folks who built their brand and ended up getting the shaft then probably there wouldn't be so much of a reason to desire their not succeeding. As far as I have seen, they have run everything with the motto "the end justifies the means" and I don't have a whole lot of respect for that. And really I think their products suck; there are other products out there that suck but somehow Jones' attempt to dump people around over the years and still stick their hand out for investment under a façade of basically not being what they are is repulsive. But hey we can all have our opinions so I am sure ichiro doesn't have a problem with anything that Jones has done in the past because if it somehow limps back into volume and ultimately success then for sure he will follow that motto and everything will be just fine in his mind. Hey so what is your guys' opinion of Cool Mountain??
11-27-2003, 01:06 PM
soda, you should just save it as trying to justify your position is a joke. You can have your opinion of course but it is so narrow minded that it carries zero credibility. Fact is Jones products aren't as crappy as you think and obviously the beverage biz is not an easy one. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions which not everyone likes. If it was so easy, you wouldve became someone by now. You know what I mean?
11-28-2003, 08:53 AM
wow.....even on thanksgiving day, soda cant get jones out of his mind!!!! i love it!!!!!! it is soooooooo funny to witness soda going mental thru the YEARS of ripping on jones, i cant believe soda is still on this board, let alone still ripping on jones.....its been a loooong time since ive been to this board, and hes still saying the same stuff.....i think someone needs a life, get a girlfriend (just make sure her last name isnt jones.....or you might go crazy....i mean crazier) good luck buddy...
11-28-2003, 11:25 AM
Sounds like someone named turdferguson has spent to much time watching SNL.
11-28-2003, 02:23 PM
Soda only came on to talk about jones because he was responding. I will have to back him up in saying he does carry some credibility about the brand. Jones has done their part to screw Soda in the past. But that is his story, and I will leave it to him to disclose it. But it is something pretty crapy. I have tried 3 Jones Sodas in the past 2 years. Honestly, I could not even drink 2 of them. Much of them are very gummy and sugary. But there still are some good flavors. Key word, some, not all. I think the biggest problem here, that many new commers don't understand, is that the Jones Soda product, and the Jones Soda company are two different factions here. Many have their opinions with the soda, being good or bad. But the majority of thoes who have delt with the company are have bad feelings towards them. Its just the brand that keeps them going. I have many distributors who sell Jones, and they all hate dealing with the company. Empty promises and a bunch of let downs. But their soda sells so they stick with it.
11-30-2003, 12:16 AM
I like Jones because it has interesting and tasty flavours that you can't get from Pepsi and Coke. I also enjoy the artistic photos on each bottle. It adds to the drinking experience.
12-02-2003, 10:32 AM
Generally, on this board, when anyone writes something positive about Jones it is someone who has a financial interest in Jones of some sort. Ron knows the story and amazingly enough he has managed to find a flavor or two of Jones that he likes. You know, there surely are those times that you have to make this and that decision that you really don't want to have to make. But outright lying and luring people in to take advantage of them, premeditatedly, is another story. I don't think too many people at Jones lose sleep over decisions that they make which mess with other people because the ones who make such decisions historically, anyway, are not caring people to begin with.
12-02-2003, 12:02 PM
smelly and his touchy feely story. Makes me wanna cry...I mean vomit....barffffffffffffff
12-03-2003, 02:31 AM
Uh-oh, someone obviously just drank a Jones!!
