View Full Version : Sugar Free Bawls? Who cares.....

06-09-2004, 07:38 AM
The vast majority of people that drink this product are gaming 14-18 year olds. Do you think they care or want a sugar free balls? At least the bottle is not blue! Good luck!

Again, I don't understand the market they are going for.... 15 year old gamers that are trying to watch their weight? The new bottle is a step up from a blue bottle of balls. Again, good luck...but who is going to drink this?

We launched the Guaranex about 2 weeks ago with no promotion behind it. I just wanted to see what the "pipeline" would generate. So far it is doing well. We have had several re-orders and are starting to get a few calls from health clubs. Oddly enough a local chain of liquor stores has taken an interest. Very positive response so far.

But I think there are a lot of ‘low carb’ crazed moms out there worrying about their kids' sugar intake. According to the soccer (or gamers) moms, Guaranexx will be a good alternative for the kids hooked on the stuff, and hey, it contains sucralose! (But also some ace-k  ).

In addition, to survive in the beverage world, each company must expand their product line to have more visibility on the shelves, even if the newer product doesn't sell as well as the original. I think that Bawls is doing just that.

But I must say one thing. I think the moms should be concerned about their kids’ caffeine intake. Bawls contains way more caffeine than a coke and teenagers don’t have the same tolerance to caffeine than adults do – it messes up their sleeping patterns big time, and we all know teenagers need their sleep.

I have had the original Guarana & Guarana Light sodas while I was in Brazil last year during Christmas. It is the hottest drink around and it gave me energy without too much jitters.

Brasilians are into health (except for smoking too much) and looking good and Guarana is a big part of it.

Bawls is a good product with a loyal following. The cobalt blue bottle is unique and eye catching. I see nothing wrong with a sugar free version. Plenty of adults are drinking bawls and I’m sure the sugar free stuff will only increase sales for the company.
I am not found of the new clear bottle. I think they should have colored it.

Edude let me see if I got this right. Sugar free bag in box is a good thing and sugar free bawls is a bad thing? How does that work? People want bawls, people ask for bawls, people buy bawls and people drink bawls on a regular basis. I’m sure people were demanding a low carb sugar free version.
Who is asking for your no name generic sugar free bag in box? Oh yea bartenders. I almost forgot.

I knew it would be just a matter of time before edude started another thread in the "Complaints, Gripes, & Rants" section.

edudes M.O. :
He posts like crazy here for weeks on end, then he trys to sell his products out in the field for a week or so, when VERY unsuccessful and turned down 100s of times he becomes very bitter and comes back to this site and begins to "put-down" other companys and their products. All this in hopes of him feeling better and maybe people/consumers thinking his products are so much better than the competition, from reading this site.

I believe that Bawls is onto something here. I am finding myself buying SF RB more and more. Giving the consumer a choice within the products they are loyal to can only help sales. Cant wait to try SF Bawls.

06-13-2004, 09:48 PM
Wait until Bawls comes out with a nameless B.I.B - then E-dude will sing their praises! Right E-dude?

06-13-2004, 11:20 PM
Try to focus on the product boys..... Who on earth is going to buy sugar free balls??? Computer geeks on a diet????

06-14-2004, 12:21 AM
i havent been able to find sugar free bawls yet, but i really am anxious to get it.. i thought it was a unique product, and now that they have a sugar free version out there, i will most certainly try it, if i can get a good deal on cases of it, i definately will get it.

wish they still carried sugar free red bull at sam's club!

06-14-2004, 08:37 PM
It wasn't all that many years ago when "nobody" would buy a "light" beer. Still, the brewers managed to stay in business - despite the naysayers.

I'd say Bawls is going after a larger market share with a product that will be positioned to capture an audience that their current offering doesn't. Markets change, tastes change and consumer preferences change - most successful companies recognize that and make attempts to change their offerings.

Perhaps Bawls will offer an un-named BIB next - just to make E-dude happy????

Crazy!!!! Diabetic computer geeks.

well, I would have to say the age demegraphics you picked seem to be wrong edude. Also if you just say "what, some computer geeks are going to buy it" then you have NO IDEA how big the gaming industry really is. Gaming (about $8 billion in sales) outgrossed Movies ($6.9 billion) Plus, since adults drink the product to, they enjoy having the choice. I can not tell you that when I used to do samplings, how many people would want to try the product, but could not because they have to watch their sugar intake.
But why is Sugar Free "PAW, a.k.a. no name, a.k.a. TPBIB" ok, but a company like BAWLS can not come out with a SF mix. But I guess since you found out you cant really try to crap talk about RB, you thought BAWLS would be easier with less people to back it up. I really dont know why you dont just try and sell your product and stop worrying what other companies are doing. Or maybe you should worry about them. After all, they are selling product in the general market, something you have yet to do.

06-14-2004, 11:33 PM
I find Balls in a blue bottle to be nasty and offensive! I will not be sticking a bottle of blue balls in my mouth anytime soon. Not to mention I would much rather have a Mountain Dew!!!

Cost and taste is advantage Dew!!!

Why buy balls when you can have a Dew!!!

Nothing is good or bad except by comparison and when you compare like products like Dew and Balls from a taste, cost, and caffeine rush comparison Dew wins.

I did not like the taste of Balls with sugar is Balls without going to be any better???

I'll pass but I wish them luck!

I still don't understand the market approach. Majority of Balls drinkers are young gamers and could care less about sugar content.

06-15-2004, 09:51 PM
Hey Edud isn't the majority of your accounts with SP,BIB,SFTP in the adult entertainment crowd. All this talk of your South Beach accounts must have been with Club Madonna and gold Rush!!!

Ron Swedelson
06-15-2004, 11:04 PM
I like how edude just asumes he knows BAWLS customers age and how much goes to who.
Also, caffiene wise, BAWLS has more than Mt. Dew, but if you are a Dew fan, cool, there are a lot out there. But I keep in touch with some of my old distributors, and SF BAWLS is selling well for them off that bat.
But I dont think you answered anyones questions. Why is TP BIB SF ok, but not BAWLS? Just cause you are not a fan of them or what? Just wondering why you think that.

06-16-2004, 12:22 AM
Again Ron, I will explain it to you..... Tell me who is going to buy SF Balls??? Their current customer base is mostly 12 to 20 years old! Are they looking or caring about sugar intake..... I think not. Not to mention it does not taste very good at all.

06-16-2004, 08:22 AM
Bawls Guaranex is an easy addition to my sales reps orders. As a line extention it is gaining distribution every day. So far so good.

You have raved about your distribution in Texas and yet I still don't see it in the largest market in the state (DFW). I would bet a steak dinner that I have more accounts buying Guaranex than you do with your brand.

By the way...order my porterhouse medium with garlic seasoning!

06-16-2004, 02:36 PM
SumPoosie is all over Houston and Dallas! Those two markets alone do about 3000 cases a month so I would be careful betting a Porterhouse right now. The question I still have is who is buying SF Balls??? Who is it for? Computer geeks on a diet?

Ron Swedelson
06-16-2004, 08:48 PM
Your age demegraphic is not correct again Edude, but most of your posts have not been. I dont know how many gamers drink the SF BAWLS, although it does have more caffiene than the original. I do know that it is selling very well in stores. Some of my old distributors are telling me that with every 4 or 5 cases ordered, they are getting another case of SF on top of it.
I just spent the night in Houston, not by choice, storms shut the airports down for a while...did not see SP anywere.
Anyway, from what I am hearing SF Bawls is selling well and increasing by the week. Why is it really an issue to you? You obviously dont like the brand, nor do you understand it. Be it you are just not a fan, cant understand why a brand like BAWLS sells well and has distribution when you brand does not, I mean I dont know why this brand bugs you.

06-16-2004, 09:15 PM
Three thousand cases (of SP) a month in Houston AND Dallas?

In markets of that size, 3,000 cases a month is ZERO distribution and/or ZERO sell-off.

That isn't even taking into account your vastly inflated sales figures.

I'd bet that Red Bull has accounts (in Dallas/Houston) that sell 3,000 cases a month.

06-16-2004, 10:43 PM
2 years ago Dallas and Houston were selling 0 cases and now 3000 per month... by next year it will be 6000 call it what you want the distributor is very happy down there !!!
Even the longest journey starts with a single step!

06-16-2004, 10:58 PM
That was, quite possibly, the first time you've ever posted something even close to resembling the truth.

I suspect that you'd find fewer antagonists if you'd dare to do more of the same.

06-17-2004, 09:28 AM
Once again I ask you E-Dude...exactly where are these accounts in the DFW area? I would love to go and see some of these locations that help you sell these 3000 cases per month.

06-18-2004, 02:41 AM
The only place I ever found SP was in an Exxon station in North Dallas off 635 and (I believe) Midway. And they've stopped carrying it. But i've seen the new brand of Bawls in a few places. Maybe I haven't seen SP anywhere else because I don't hang around porno stores and strip clubs.

I think of SP as a gimmick, kind of like Orbitz. It'll get people to buy it once or twice, but once the goofy novelty wears off, it drops off the face of the earth.

06-18-2004, 10:06 AM
I doubt we will ever know the customer base. Maybe it is like opportunity and sunshine...it is "everywhere".

06-19-2004, 07:13 AM
Who on earth is going to buy sugar free balls??? Me.

I love how Edude shows his class time and time again. This guy does nothing to edude and he already resorts to name calling. Maybe Edude is mad because Sum beverages just dont sell, and he cant understand how others do.

06-20-2004, 10:06 PM
Ron, you know as well as everyone else here that a beverage will sell if its distributed!

This is the reasoning behind edudes anger.
Dont very much blame him for his frustrations.

06-20-2004, 11:48 PM
Yeah Toby ..... that is what Budweiser and 180 thought!!!

You need good distribution and a good product!

06-21-2004, 04:59 AM
Too bad you don't have either........

06-21-2004, 09:14 AM
......still waiting on that account list e-dude...

Hell boodoo walk in to any Men's club in town and you can get SumPoosie. I was just at the Penthouse Club ask for Mercedes..... very hot!
If your in Houston stop by Spec's Liquor they have SumPoosie too!!!

2 accounts and a dancers name. Maybe concentrate more on getting accounts than lap dances.
That would be great to tell a chain store buyer..."well, its not really in any stores, but if you walk into any strip club, you will find it there."

06-22-2004, 01:36 AM
I don't distribute in Texas Katatonic does and I am sure they can provide you an entire list. If you want to know where you can buy it give them a call. Spec's is one of the largest liquor chains in Houston and has 14 mega stores!!! So bite me!

06-22-2004, 09:11 AM
Come on e-dude...strip joints...is that all ya got? Nothing for the general public?

Let's see...I'll start off with a fresh garden salad with blue cheese dressing. My steak you already know about. Add a nice baked potato with butter and cheese and fresh steamed veggies!

06-22-2004, 09:39 AM
Drayton told me your bigger then me so I have to be nice, he also told me no steak is big enough to curb your appetite! By the way strip clubs are for the general public! You can stop by any Spencer gifts store ..... they have SumPoosie too!

06-22-2004, 10:05 AM
it sounds like we have to go to a location where we'll catch a VD to get this stuff...

Ummmm... yeah ok whatever....

Well I will have to tell them to stop selling so much so you guys can get SUM !!!!!!!!!!! :D

A quote from "OLD SCHOOL"

""I promised my wife I wouldnt drink....got a busy day tomorrow, going to Home Depot, maybe a lil Bed Bath and Beyond""

LOL!!!! freakin funny movie!

I was out doing the "miserable tagging along husband" thing with my wife at the shopping mall this past weekend and saw no SP in spencers here in Ma.!

Thank God there was a John Harvards Brew house. had some great beers there!

06-23-2004, 09:58 AM
Spencer Gifts has 16 locations in MA so don't give up hope Toby... In fact the first two I called both said they had SumPoosie so you won't have to look too hard!!!

From what I understand some of the stores sell out within 48hrs of getting the collectables!

SumPoosie is very popular!!!

Ron Swedelson
06-23-2004, 07:55 PM
Im sure that is what the problem is. All the stores people have gone into have not been able to keep enought stock for customers.

06-23-2004, 08:02 PM
Yeah.... all 3 of them Ron.... Spensers is thrilled that SumPoosie is selling so well. Hate to rub it in but they are doing great with the product!

What a shame huh!!!

Ron Swedelson
06-24-2004, 08:49 PM
what are you rubbing in? You keep thinking I have something personal agaist anyone selling Sum Poosie. I don't. If you sell zero, or 1,000,000 cases tomarrow, I dont make any more or less money. I just think its too funny that no one can find your brand. And you rave about this chain that sells it, but you cant point one out to me, and 3 different locations, no SP can be found there. Not a shame for me, just funny.

06-25-2004, 01:14 AM

Ron Swedelson
06-25-2004, 08:29 PM
yeah, you know, the day after today. Today being another day that no one could find SP again.

07-09-2004, 07:46 PM
All things being equal I still will not be drinking diet balls.

07-09-2004, 07:49 PM
all things being equal I still will not drink Sumpoosie, if I could find it.

Ron Swedelson
07-09-2004, 07:56 PM
But things are not equal. YOu like SP, no one else here seems to. Well, mainly since they cant find them. If you do or dont drink diet bawls, I dont think anyone will really care. But at least you can find it. And the company doesnt need anyone on here trying to talk up the brand. Their sales speak for themselves.

07-10-2004, 11:11 AM
What you fail to understand Ron is that there is little new and interesting to talk about in the beverage business. C2 and Edge interesting??? NO!
Fanta brand now available in Elkwood, Arkansas....NO!

I started talking about SumPoosie because it was new and not available everywhere. That is what you do on a board... talk about new exciting things!

This thread is about Sugar Free Balls and who cares.... in other words who is going to buy it?
Who is it for? Who are they targeting? I feel the same way about Rockstar Cola.... who is this for???? I can't drink Rockstar to much junk inside! Who wants to mess up their cola experience with a bunch of goat weed in it?????

07-10-2004, 01:24 PM
I'd buy it. In fact, I just found it on the net and ran out to buy 2 cases - but couldn't find it anywhere.

I'm 31, and coffee is making me FAT with all the cream and sugar. I have no interest in sugary soft drinks either.

So I want a sugar free drink with a caffeine kick to it and not "pop" per se.

Enter SF Bawls!

Im desperate to get some but in Canada I think it's hard to find.

Ron Swedelson
07-10-2004, 10:57 PM
Call the BAWLS headquarters and ask them how much they sell and who buys it and who they sell it to. Bet you would be surprised. But, from what I hear, things are going great, so obviously a lot of people care.
As for Rockstar, if it tastes like a cola, I think they got a hit there. They are the #2 drink, and need to find ways to keep growing. You keep talking about how much you hate the taste of energy drinks. If RS did it right, and made it taste like a normal cola, I think they will get a lot more new sales.

07-12-2004, 01:41 AM
Don't drink Rockstar and don't want to drink that much to get energy. If they filled it with goat weed I am sure it taste like cola medicine. Again who is this product for? Cola drinkers who want vitamins? Just asking.....

Ron Swedelson
07-12-2004, 08:56 PM
Id imagine its for people who want an energy drink, and maybe have a taste for cola. Would you say SP is more of an energy drink that tastes more like a soda or what? If it tastes like a cola, I think they have a winner there. But it is hard to mask all the vitamins and minerals in thoes drinks. DefCom 3 by Russel Simmons is doing fairly well, but they were imputed into all the 7-11 stores so that helps. Red Devil has a power cola, but it tasted like a cinnimon cola, so pretty much like ASS, but that was the best selling sku...so who knows. I am with you on not being the one to try it, but would like to hear from someone that will.

Red Sox fan
07-13-2004, 12:01 AM
Well e-dude, I have to say I am bit suprised to see you so critical of RS energy cola. Many times you have complained of the lack of inovation in the beverage industry and among the big players (coke and pepsi) in particular. And while RS may not be the first to develope an e-cola at the very least you have to give them credit for being the first big player to take a shot with it.

RS could have just opted to repackage a slightly different version of their core brand, put it in a different package, and given it to all their distributors just to hog space on the shelf.
This is exactly what Monster is doing with Deuce and Lost by the way. This strategy, while boring and not innovative whatsoever, is easy and effective and was an option for RS because they have the distribution network to plug in pretty much anything they wanted. In short it would have been the safe bet.

No one really knows the potential of an energy cola and I would think you would at least give them credit for not coming out with "just another energy drink".

I'm interested in hearing what product advances/new lines other brands (outside of SP) have had that you have approved of and or liked. There must be some brand out there that recently caused you to sit back and say, "wow, that is a really good idea." Try to be objective and leave personal taste aside if possible. For instance, I personally do not like the taste of the vitamin water line but at least when it first came out and I saw the packaging I could appreciate it and recognize the potential it could have.

07-13-2004, 12:23 AM
Well.... I really didn't mean to sound so critical. It just doesn't seem to make much sense to me. Cola is a taste most people identify with because they grew up on it. Cola in a big can is not a good idea because it will lose it's carbonation well before you are finished with the drink. Not to mention Cola and vitamins does not even sound appealing.

I have tasted many energy cola's and I can tell you most are really nasty. But the market will continue to expand and who knows what is next. I wish RS nothing but the best however I must still ask the question..... who is it for?

To answer your other question about what new product I like I would have to say Think Pink BIB and Propel water. I have a hard time drinking water and Propel has made it much easier. Think Pink BIB is just a great product that mixes well with everything and adds no calories or carbs.

The other beverage I finally see doing well is RAIN Vodka. I had it in my bar a few years ago and no one knew what it was .... now I see it all over!

My friend sent me a new water today that is going to really excite the market. It is truly something new and very exciting but I am not allowed to say anymore about it until it comes out next month but be assured I will let you know all the details when I am allowed.

07-24-2004, 10:23 PM
For what it's worth I have tried SumPoosie and although I think it's rather expensive it does taste really good.

Now, as for GUARANEXX, the diet version of Bawls... that is a great drink. I don't care if only diabetic gamers are amongst the gamers who buy it. What about the rest of the world... I prefer it to Bawls itself because it's easy to drink many bottles of it throughout the day without the calories or the heaviness of a 'regular' soda.

Here in LA the Guaranexx is moving right along; doing better and better with every placement. I am thrilled that finally finally they got around to making it. At Bawls things usually happen when certain people make their decisions and sometimes that takes longer than their distributors would prefer (although other decisions come along that would best never be decided!!). But anyway, KUDOS to Bawls for coming up with it; before making commentary give it a try and you'll see that it's pretty darn good stuff!

07-28-2004, 01:36 PM
For what it's worth, Guaranexx (sugar-free Bawls) is selling well here. Our Customers who've tried it often say it tastes better than Bawls and some are even switching over. Just my 2 cents....

(Back to selling sodas. Stay cool, guys.)

07-28-2004, 03:09 PM
Can someone tell me who is buying it? Who is looking for sugar free BAWLS? Is the new taste dynamic? I see it at the grocery and the same 8 bottles have been there for 3 weeks.

I am sure it is selling somewhere but who is buying it?

Ron Swedelson
07-28-2004, 08:19 PM
Probably the same type of customers who buy SF RB. Thoes who like their energy drinks, and enjoy drinking more than one at a time, but dont want all the calories and carbs. You know, the big things you talk about with TP. But if you see 8, thats good because there are 24 in a case. From what I have heard from distributors, it is moving at about 10% of original, which is not to bad. I have not yet tried it, but a few people who I have talked to said they enjoy it. Plus it has more caffiene than the original.

10% of original??? That is called a disaster!

Anyone who drinks a lot of this kind of drink but leads a sedentary life (read: PC gamers) are better served by drinking the sugar free version. Sugar is hella fattening. Dont *have* to be a fat slob to be a gamer ! smile.gif

well first off I dont know the figure, that is just a basic figure that I am getting from some people. Second, to launch a brand that is not neccisarily a new flavor, but a diet verson, that is not that bad of a number. Especially since you have no idea how many cases BAWLS sells per year. Here in my market, RB SF is about 15% of total sales. And when you see the number of cases droped, that is huge. But again, if you are so interested in all this information, why dont you give corp. a call.

07-29-2004, 10:44 PM
All I am interested in is someone telling me who this product was made for??? Who drinks diet Balls? Who has demanded this product? Geeks on a diet? Who is this product for .... Male or Female..... age.....anything!!!!

Who drinks diet Balls and why? What guy puts Balls in his mouth?

Who is this product for?

I dont know, maybe there is a reason you keep saying "balls in their mouth", maybe there is something inside you that keeps you typing your interests. Now BAWLS, thats a good beverage. Since they are a private company, I can not tell you what their numbers were, but they sold way more product than SP probably ever will. With out numbers, I can also tell you that in one of my markets I used to cover (Salt Lake City), Bawls sold about 30% of what Monster was selling. Which is pretty huge. And even in that market, if you knew the exact figures, you would be pretty impressed. But I see BAWLS and SF Bawls at my local colleg which I go to, and call on as a currect RB account. They sell about 10 cases per week. Yes, gamers drink the brand, and love it since its got such a huge caffiene kick. But a lot of people drink it for its flavor, and a lot drink it for its caffiene. You still want to know who drinks it, ask your local stores that carry it. Call corp. You seem so interested in the brand, why dont you go to the source.

The neat thing about SumPoosie is that it appeals to both men and women! It's catchy and fun and the girls love to wear the apparel. Guys are into the Bottle Models, the girls for 2004 are stunning and I met one of the girls for 2005 and all I can say is wow!!!

I keep saying balls because the bottle is blue and the product is called BALLS!!!

DON'T you get it Blue BALLS!!!!

Why do you think girls on their site is deep throating the bottle???????????

You do know what blue balls is right?

I see Havanna know has girls all over the place .....Hmmmmmmmm coffee and hot chicks?

well, like just about everybody else, I dont know anyone who enjoys the brand. SS thinks its alright, but way to expensive for what it is. I have tried it. For an energy drink it taste fairly decent, but for a thirst quencher, not at all. The same guys that are into your pictures are probably the same guys that are into Japanamation porn. Its a cartoon drawing of a girl, wow. Along with poor shirk wrap label. Hey, change your lable and make it were people can send in their UPC's and get a picture or poster of an actual picture of a girl, and you may have something. Other than that, Im not impressed, my wife is not inpressed, and everyone who I have shown the bottle to kind of laughed and asked if it was a joke gift or something.

Product is not called balls, maybe you should get some glasses. What about the sugar free, not a blue bottle. But I understand your jelousy for a brand like BAWLS that you dont understand, and they sell way more product than you could ever hope to sell.

There's one answer to your question. Caffeine: good. Sugar: bad. Cola: bad. Bawls SF: Great!

I'm still waiting to find any Guaranexx around here in the Wyoming/Colorado area. I'll be buying it, trying it, and probably drinking it if/when it shows up. I just picked up a 12pack of normal Bawls at a CompUSA when I was in Denver last weekend.

Good to see someone cares! I just don't see the market for Sugar Free Balls!

Ron Swedelson
08-01-2004, 04:49 PM
so a product like BAWLS that has been out for years and has doubled sales every year can not come out with a sugar free zero carb sku from their already popular and selling beverage. But Think Pink is ok and there is a market there for an unproven, unheard of brand. uh..ok, if you say so.

08-02-2004, 01:03 AM
Bawls is a very limited product and is only in the gaming community. I think you will see things change in 2005 when SumPoosie starts going for the gaming market. Are the gamers going to keep drinking Balls when they can have SumPoosie?

I think the gamers are going to go for SumPoosie...... we shall see!

08-02-2004, 10:32 AM
Edude, I don't know about Bawls being totally a gamers drink. They are selling it at a grocery store and a convenience store here in town, and I see people buying it that don't look like the "gamer" type - it's not marketed that way (or any way, really) around here anyway. Me, I drink it because it tastes good and for the caffeine, especially when I'm on the night shift. I know another co-worker that buys it too for the same reason.

08-02-2004, 03:04 PM
So you choose Balls over RB or do you drink other energy drinks too. Balls has about as much caffine as a Mountain Dew. You think Balls taste better than Dew? 10oz. does it for you?

I put a black pen mark on 14 Balls bottles at the grocery store 18 days ago and 13 are still there!

Ron Swedelson
08-02-2004, 08:15 PM
BAWLS has more caffeine than Mt. Dew, and now you are also vandalizing merchandice in stores. Good for you. As your post says, who cares. So why do you. If you think BAWLS is a terrable company and doesnt sell at all and doesnt work, then why care. Let the company go bankrupt if thats what you think.
I worked for them for almost 3 years. I sold a crap load of product, opened up a lot of new markets and states, and I was able to buy a condo here in San Ramon ($500,000). So yeah, I think the company is doing ok, I think they are selling a little bit of product, and I know my commition checks were ok. So even though I dont work for the company anymore, I am in contact with many of my old distributors because I dont like to burn bridges. And yeah, I think BAWLS will do ok with or without your endorcement. So why dont you just do as your post says, and not care.

08-02-2004, 11:50 PM
I don't think balls is an awful company. They are doing a little playing around and none of you call them on it. A blue bottle and its called BALLS and not one of you get it.......amazing.

My point is I have never seen anyone but a gamer drink the stuff so who is the sugar free for???

Yes Ron, Balls does have a slight advantage over Mountain Dew in caffine, oz. for oz that is. However I can buy 64 oz. for 1.09. How much would it cost to do the same of Balls? There is alot more caffine in that 64oz. than in that 10oz bottle and you pay 6 times more for Balls.

I'll stick with Dew I can get plenty of Caffine for 1.09. It would take 6 bottles and about 9 bucks to get the same from Balls.

08-03-2004, 10:54 AM
well, Edude, tell you what. The balls play on words, of course I know what that means. and the blue balls too, duh, of course. My co-workers have fun when I bring some into work with the plays on words sometimes. As for drinking Bawls vs other products... I can't stand mountain dew, or coffee. I can sometimes tolerate Jolt, but Bawls is excellent. And it's in glass, that matters to me too. And the 10 ounce serving, yeah, okay, I'll give you that, I wish it were more, it does seem a little overpriced. But I don't drink lots of it.

08-03-2004, 12:41 PM
So if you know its a play on words and they are talking about Blue Balls...... why would any guy stick it in his mouth??? Do you really want Blue Balls in your mouth?????

Ron Swedelson
08-03-2004, 08:34 PM
try spelling it right first off. Secondly, yes you can make a play on the name BAWLS. Just as you do with SP. I mean you do when its works for you. THe blue bottle is purely design. There was a different color bottle originaly, but it did not look good in the cooler light and was expensive to make. After that, you wouldnt want it in a clear bottle, as they found out with SF, it just doenst look that great. I believe they are changing the color so it looks clear now (SF). But original would not want to be in a black glass or amber, so what else do you want? Cobalt Blue looks awsome. And as for your question, what guy wants to put a bottle of BAWLS to their mouth? I do, as do thousands of others. Durring sampling events, I sampled to about 75% guys and 25% girls. So if you want to use your thinking, your product would only be good for guys and bi-curious girls and lesbians, and BAWLS would only be good for girls and gays. Well, unfortunatly I dont think that pans out, but if it makes you feel better at night, then so be it. Also, why are you drinking so much Mt. Dew.? When you talk about energy drinks you keep saying how 16oz is way to much for you and you feel all bloated. But with MT. Dew its ok for you to consume so much. Also, why are you not drinking SP? Doesnt work?

I cannot believe how long this nonsense post has been going. Let's start a post about what color better for underwear next. Any product is a good product as long as it competes and inspires imitators. I think Bawls is a great one. Great advant-garde packaging, focused marketing, and a company that has found its niche and is reasonably expanding the product line. It's a premium brand that's why it costs more edude. Why do you compare it to a product from a company you have trashed in numerous other posts. Yeah you get more caffine in 640z of dew. But you get tons more from two nodooze. Your arguments used to be relevent and sometimes made sense but anymore your bordering on the absurd and pointless. I try to limit myself and not get involved in your posts, hopefully this will saite me for a while.

08-03-2004, 09:44 PM
Point taken.... my point is this... Who is SF Balls for? The vast majority of people who buy Balls are gamers. With that in mind who did they make this product for.

Was there actually a need for SFB? If I am wrong then who buys this stuff?

I ask the board ... is there a need for this stuff? Is there a market and if so WHO.

like I said, call corp. and ask them. Why are you asking people who are fans, but are not in the exact know of the company. That is the best way to get your answer. I still get depletion reports, I can tell you it is still moving. I am also guessing the same people who buy Sugar Free BAWLS are the same people who buy Diet Coke, SFRB, and probably even Think Pink. Yes, Gamers are the core market for BAWLS. But going off the accounts in my area, of the 350 accounts that BAWLS is in, only about 20 of them are gaming centers. I see Sugar free in a lot of 7-11s and delis and gas stations. I see about 1 box of SF for every 5 of original BAWLS. You ask who is buying it, consumers. One of my best friends is on a strict diet and does not take in extra sugar or carbs, so he was drinking Lo-Carb Monster and SFRB. I gave him a sample of SFB, and now he buys it by the case. Thats my best answer for you. If you are really that interested in the answer, call corp.

08-05-2004, 09:30 AM
I am asking for opinions on who this product is for....... the same 13 bottles are still sitting there at the store. Maybe gamers do not go to the grocery store!

There are so many other SF drinks out there I just don't see where SF Balls fits in....time will tell.

08-05-2004, 09:38 AM
so Ron ....I hate to pick on you or call you out but I did remember reading a post of yours a while back and I came across it again.

So you DO work for "energize distributors"? in SF?

heres your post..............

If you are Red Bull, and you have the money, it makes sence. This way the Rep can only concentrate on Red Bull, and Red Bull alone. Other promos or competative items will not effect the sales of Red Bull into a store. But some one like Red Bull has to do this sort of thing. They are number 1, and want to stay there. In SF, and many other markets, Red Bull has a different sales team inside of the current dist. But, key on-premise accounts are still with the normal dist. sales reps. I have no problem with this sort of thing, and most stores should not either. I would not work for a dist. to only sell Red Bull. Way to much pressure for a possition. Same with working for Red Bull, although it would be hard to pass up if they offered $70K or so.

so might I ask did you get that 70k? cause if you did, I need to go and beg for my job back with my old distributor!

Sorry to call you out pal, just keeping it real.

not $70. About $50K almost guaranteed. Kind of a tuff decitions. I loved working for BAWLS and respected RB but did not want to work for them since I had been on the other side selling so many other different drinks. But with BAWLS, after a couple area changes and reshufling of how we got paid, I had to look for other options. All the beer houses were hiring part time or vacation fills, and only paying about $35K. Then I saw the add in the paper that the local RB dist. was hiring. I actually stared at it for about 10 min before calling my dad and a few friends. But with my family and my house I knew I had to do something. So I interviewed, and found out pay was going to be just under what I had made at BAWLS the previouse year, and much more guaranteed for this year, plus only covering a few cities within 15 miles of my house in stead of 9 states. So now between my job and my wifes, we pull in about $85K a year. Wich to some might be a lot, to some it may not be much, but living outside of San Francisco, we are just a few hundred dollars each week over living paycheck to paycheck.
But I dont mind you seeing that post Toby, for the first few weeks all my friends keept calling me a sellout. But they see how much happier I am comming home everynight to my family and having less stress. Plus after about day 3 I realized how much of a machine RB really is and even though it sell so much, you still have to bust your butt each day to keep it growing and all the programs. I mean I have a huge respect for the brand that I never had before. Thats part of why I know Edude doesnt get it about RB. I have sold about 25 different skus of energy drinks in my past, and always thought RB was just wasting stores space and just buying things up. But its a different story when you are there. I do miss pitching new items and selling micro beers, but I enjoy very much selling RB now.

When you want to make more money Ron let me know.
Who you know and what you know is worth more than 50k !!!! When you want to earn much more let me know.

There is a lot of money in selling Sum!

08-06-2004, 06:38 AM
Hey Ron,
You continue to earn my respect.
Unlike SUM people here.
Major props for you not backpedaling or even ignoring the question/call out.

Good luck to you, I would quit my job today, If RB came a calling on me again. Unfortunatly the peeps thay have here in N.E. have been around since day one.

(take note eDUD)

I appreciate that Toby. I have always tried to be honest in my opinions and in answers here on this board. I just dont think someone should have to shy away from questions or not be honest about things. Sometimes you did something good, and sometimes people catch you doing otherwise. But I appreciate the respect, very much.

Edude, if I was still at home, and had not started a new job, I couldnt say that I wouldnt be curiouse. But with the family and RB loving me working there, I just dont see me leaving. I do appreciate, and agree that I should be at a job paying more, but right now, family comes first and I cant afford to take any chances on anything thats not guaranteed.

08-07-2004, 06:16 PM
Tuby no one cares if they have your respect or not. All you do is rant and rave and seldom have anything thought provoking to say. I am sure Ron will sleep better at night now that you have called him out and forced him to give you specifics on his income. Great job Tuby!

Like I said before Ron when you want to earn more let me know!

08-08-2004, 12:38 PM
hold up d@#khead!
I only rant and rave about your line of B.S., your hypocreticalness, your inability to answer questions, your dumbass opinions, and your dust collecting product!!

I dont believe I can "FORCE" anyone to do anything...If I could, I would "FORCE" you off the board!

and how can Ron earn more working for you? Is he going to get commission on the entire $750000 of sells that SP had?
If he did at 5% he would be taking a pay cut!!

$37.5k is less than $50k
and why do you want Ron to work for you anyway? Do you need a "duster"....heres SUM advice...hire a maid service to dust your bottles.

Thats funny...RB hires merchandisers and you hire maids!

And you said no one cares .... well Ron stated that he does so yet again you are typing LIES! OR IS IT JUST THE USEDCAR SALESMAN COMING OUT?

08-08-2004, 05:34 PM
For your information Tuby the West Coast is not really being handled yet and I am sure someone with his experience, he would be worth 1,000 bucks a week. Even if he was to do just an average job and work just a hand full of distributors he would earn another 50k in commissions. The guy on the East Coast is 27 has only 2 years in the business and earns over 100k.

Next time try to know something about what your talking about!

08-09-2004, 09:50 AM

SP is willing to fork over 25% of the $750k to two reps?

How much GP is in this dust collecting crap?

I do know what Im talking about....this $750 was a figure that (I THINK) POP gave.

No offense here Ron ....... eDUD, how do YOU KNOW Rons experience?
Have you seen his resume?
Have you checked his references?
Have you checked his employment history?
Do YOU do the hiring for the west coast?
I believe that the answer to all those questions that you will not even answer is "NO"!

so "Next time try to know something about what your talking about!" (freakin idiot)

08-09-2004, 11:20 AM
I believe Pop was talking about my numbers and I actually do a little better than that. However, the answer to your question is this. I do know most of Ron's employment history and the fact that RB is willing to have him and not you tells me RB ain't that stupid after all!

With average performance in the WEST COAST he would make 100k. Again Tuby, know what your talking about BEFORE you run your mouth.

08-09-2004, 04:36 PM
""RB is willing to have him and not you tells me RB ain't that stupid after all!""

so now your gonna blindly insult ones creditability?

RB/Burke Distributors did want me here in N.E.! I did not want to be the delivery van boy dropping cases in C-Stores. I was SOOOOO much more than a van driver/order taker when I was with RB. In fact they still ask about me. Becks, Coke, Pepsi, Snapple, Odwalla, Hanks, Switch, Pimp Juice, Rockstar, Polar Beverage ALL have recruited me in the past year and a half.
Does that make them stupid as well?

Do know my resume? have you seen it?
Do you know my employment history?
Do you even know what I currently do?

Again e"DUD", know what your talking about BEFORE you run your mouth.

I call BS on your $100k opinion! SP doesnt even take that to the bottom line!

You and SP would be so lucky as to have people like Ron and myself "dusting" these out-of-date bottles in Spencers.

Tuby I don't need to see your resume or your employment history.

Aptitude is not as important as Attitude !!!

Frankly Tuby, your attitude just sucks!

PS. You should be very proud that Pimp Juice tried to recruit you. Put that on your resume!

08-09-2004, 06:39 PM
pimp juice would be ahellavalot better than SP on my resume!!

Dustin, you dont know me! Dont try and presume that you do!
Until you meet me in person, Keep your liebel opinions to yourself!
If you must know ....my attitude is awesome!
I just dont like your product, your actions, your opinions, the way you conduct your business, the way you protray yourself, hell Dustin I just dont like YOU!
Im sure Im not the only on here on the board or in this industry that feels this way.

Why do you continue to post here? You bring nothing to this board. What was the last "new" item you brought? Spencers? WOW!

Ill tell you what youve brought, a lack of desire for others who have been around a long time to come back!
Good job eDUD! way top run folks that bring intelligence, inlighting news, thought provoking dialog, and comrodery away from BEVNET!
