Does anyone here know if the Taurine in Bookoo is synthetic? Actually any synthetic taurine drinks would be great, all I know about are Sobe drinks and Redbull... but my dads offering me a Bookoo and I dont want to drink it if the taurine is from an animal.

I think pretty much all Taurine is synthetically derived.

Almost all Taurine in energy drinks is from Animal. I was unaware that Sobe even had synthetic taurine. Red Bull has a patent on their process, RockStar, Monster, all the others all use animal taurine.

Really? I was always under the assumption that all Taurine was synthetically derived... shows what I know.

The taurine in these drinks has been cited as vegan (aka synthetic) by the manufacturers.

So uh, not sure I even want to know this, but how is this animal taurine derived?

Seems like energy drinks would be healthy for vegans:

"Taurine levels were found to be significantly lower in vegans than in a control group on a standard American diet. Plasma taurine was 78% of control values, and urinary taurine only 29%."
