Coca-Cola haven't released its minimalist label yet... but Ciel already did it, here's a pic before (the first one) and now (the second one), the label is now white and not translucent, it doesn't have background anymore, the "bulls eye" is smaller and the Ciel logo is now bigger...

and here's a 600 ml Coke bottle I got at Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, it's a very weird bottle.... why weird?, check the color of the plastic bottle...

The Coca Cola Company in the US still can't Sprite pacakging right. That retro bottle looks FANTASTIC! Why can they not bring it here?

MrR
The thumb nail pix look good.
I agree that retro sprite bottle is super cool.
IMO this retro look if far more appealing than the
"hyper modern" designs of the past few years.

I am more swayed by the "keep it simple" designs.

The retro bottle ROCKS. Coke should do that with the 8oz dimple glass bottles here in the US.

thanks for sharing!

I like that Sprite Retro Too, awesome!

And for those who don't want to download that file (500K is pretty huge!) I copied it,and cropped, brightened, resized and compression-saved it.... ( only 17K in size ;) ) ... and here it is, with a pic of a classic bottle for comparison:

That's a good question. Just what is the age group/core age consumers of Sprite? From my prospective and IMO, the new design might bring back customers to the Sprite brand. I mean when I look at the retro design and hopefully old school "bumpy" green bottle, it makes me think about how much I enjoyed Sprite as kid. But that's just me. I get emotional over soda pop. LOL

At any rate IMO Sprite needs a major revamp. The latest design scheme IMO does not appeal to me. Going back to the retro design IMO is a big strep in the right direction. I think Coca Cola's attempt to use youth marketing (Hip Hop and NBA stars) has failed to build the brand.

Sprite's market share peaked at 6.8% in 1999 and has since slid to 5.7%.

of course, most of the major soda brands peaked around the same time and have also slid. the most consistent gainers are diet coke and mountain dew... both of which have added 1 whole percentage pt since 1995.

also of note, Dr Pepper passed Sprite in the Top Ten sodas last year... so maybe it had something to do with those weird... scary new ads. i found them disturbing and couldn't watch them. perhaps, others felt the same.

sprite's market share did grow during the early years of the NBA/Hip Hop advertising era though... but maybe the new-ness wore off.

WOW! interesting numbers! I didn't know that Sprite is going down, IMO the new american Sprite ads are good, and the "Sublymonal" word is cool, but maybe the rest of the people doesn't look at the same way... One question, Sprite has 6.8% of market share of all the soda market or just the lemon-lime segment?... Who's the leader right now? Sprite, Sierra Mist or 7UP?

sprite had 6.8% of the US soda market in 1999 (it probably has more of the international soda market).

sprite is, by far, the best-selling lemon-lime soda. 7up and sierra mist are below 1.4% (neither is in the Top 10 anymore).

mt dew outsells sprite (and diet pepsi) though. mt dew currently has a 6.6% market share... down from its high of 7.2%... and is the 4th best-selling soda in the US, after Coke, Pepsi & Diet Coke.

Sprite Sucks

Sierra Mist Owns Sprite

LOL
I will not go into my "I hate Sierra Mist" vent. LOL
Some of the board members might recall a story I posted
about a year ago. Long and short I was suffering in the
hospital with a very sever case of the intestinal flu.
As I was getting better and was taken off the IV, I needed
to push clear fluids. LOL

Me being a complete soda pop addict and lover, even in light of
being dehydrated and craving a clear soda I refused to drink
the can of Serra Mist that the nurse gave me. LOL

Moral of my story....I would rather die a slow death of dehydration than
drink Sierra Mist. (LOL....not really, just being polite)

Old formula 7up and Sprite are to me almost medicinal. LOLOLOLOL

Am i the only one who cant really tell the difference between sprite and serria mist? (then again, i never drink them. i bet if i sat down, with an ice cold can of each and taste tested them throughly, i proabaly would be able to) But i dont really drink those two sodas day by day. When i do, its because there is nothing else, or i am sick. But then again, old formula 7up owns all of them.

very funny! ;)

i've never even tried sierra mist. i just don't like lemon-lime sodas very much (they give me a stomach ache). i'd much rather have a ginger ale.

7up has changed its flavor so many times, i'm not even sure what it tastes like any more. from what i remember though, 7up was a little more bitter than sprite, and slice was a bit more acidic/citrusy. yes, i said "slice"... that's how long it's been... ;)

Which Slice do you mean ;) The original formulation with the 10% real juice in it or the later incarnation without?

By the way, Sierra was the name that Pepsi-cola CEO Roger Enrico wanted to call what became Lemon-Lime Slice back in mid-80s, but was talked out of it.
