I heard today that Target may be doing sampling that includes a Free 2L deal (probably with some other purchase) I don't know the details yet but should know more tomorrow or Friday.

Official release date is June 18th, pretty big promotion with 12oz trial sizes and taste samplings. Maybe sooner, check for ad breaks in your local area.

I saw an entire endcap of 2 liters at the Super WM in Parkesburg PA today. Priced $1.38 like the rest of their cola lineup.

Well, it's here in Wyoming! Only 12pks so far, haven't seen any other sizes.

Got this one at WalMart earlier this evening, cans were filled on May 31. (Sep 06 2007 expiration)

Yeah, the can says it does - the last ingredient is Panax Ginseng Extract.

Yeah, kind of like VAULT Red Blitz its last ingredient is Panax Ginseng Extract, is Diet Pepsi MAX just like Coke Zero? I think I'm confused as to way it's purpose is (in comparison to Coke)?

Well, for me it's a drink I'll have when I want some caffiene but not calories. It has extra caffeine in it, and I already drink Diet Pepsi. I just tried it this morning - it's not bad. Nothing special either though. Here's the lable of the 12pk:

Will Pepsi produce a HFCS/sugar Pepsi Max for the
US market? The higher caffeine would be cool.

basically, it's pepsi's answer to coke zero--a "macho" version of diet pepsi.

i LOVE the packaging, and i may try it someday, but i generally like coke better than pepsi, so i'll probably prefer coke zero.

any word on how it tastes? does it taste better than regular diet pepsi?

my prediction: there's not enough room on the shelves for both pepsi one and diet pepsi max--one of them will be gone within two years... and probably sooner.

i think you have the right idea, except... why not reincarnate Pepsi Edge as Pepsi Max... a mid-calorie soda with some kick (like red bull). i think that would appeal to males more than this.

i think that this will probably do-in pepsi one.

Well, maybe so, maybe no - what about all those Diet Pepsi Jazz flavors?

If i had to choose between the two, I'd keep Pepsi One. I mentioned above that I did try it this morning. It's OK, but nothing special. I don't drink normal DP in cans usually though, just PET 12s or 24s. If this ever comes out in PET I'll have to compare the taste that way. I do drink and like Pepsi One in cans though, and comparing the two based on taste, I'd go with P1. It remains the only sucralose-sweetened soda I really like. (well, I take that back, Diet Dad's RB is OK too)

I agree with the packaging, pretty cool. Noticed it IMMEDIATELY at the store.

We have it here in 12oz Bottles (2/$1 at Wal-Mart) 2Liters $1.00 and 12pks regular price $3.68. I tried it and liked it better than Pepsi One or Dt. Pepsi not as much of an aftertaste. I didn't like it as much in cans, the pic is of a 12oz bottle.

i'd be surprised if pepsi jazz stays around very long either (at least, not all those flavors).

pepsi one may stick around just for the avid splenda fans... since some people have a bad reaction to nutrasweet... which sweetens all of the other diet pepsi products.

i still think diet pepsi max is a reaction to coke zero though. even so, maybe you're right... there may be a market for it.

i guess what both companies are trying to do is expand their base... and/or keep the other side from stealing their drinkers.

I tried it today, and it's pretty good. Less sweet than regular Pepsi, but without the strong aftertaste of Diet Reminded me a little bit of Pepsi Edge, actually. I don't think I would choose this over Coke Zero, but it's certainly a lot better than Diet Pepsi or Pepsi One.

It's pretty interesting how both of the Big Two cola c ompanies have been able to use the vitamin-enhancement and energy trends as excuses to release versions of their diet staples with improved sweeteners. I think this idea has more potential than Diet Coke Plus, though I think I would've also released a non-diet version.

I agree, it would be nice if they made a non diet version as well. The market for higher levels of caffeine is usually dominated by teens and young adults, and they usually never drink diet, so hopefully they will try this in a non-diet form.

that was my thought as well--the target audience (males) might prefer something with sugar. i guess we'll see.

i REALLY like the packaging though--very slick.

The Caffeine is 40 something every 8 ounces, which is usually what the 1 serving size is, it has about twice as diet pepsi's caffeine.

I was able to find Diet Pepsi Max in Chicago at a local Walgreens:

http://steveandamysly.tannerworld.com/databank/2007/image_dietpepsimax1.jpg (http://forums.tannerworld.com/showthread.php?t=9544)

I'm really a fan of the new graphics treatment (http://forums.tannerworld.com/showthread.php?t=9544). As some others have mentioned in this thread already, it's obviously a ploy to go after the male market... much like Coke Zero.

As for the taste? Well, I'm not a diet drink fan, so probably not the best one to ask. But it didn't make me throw up, so I guess that's good :)

My local Jewel Foods has those (12oz btls) on sale 2 for a $1.
That probably explains what your saw. Jewel has this sale on their
hot sale flier for the week. I'm guessing that the bar code is for internal
use and not for retail sale scan.

Just bought a 2 liter this weekend. The best tasting Diet Pepsi ever... very sweet, with a little aftertaste. It reminds me a lot of the old Pepsi Edge but with no calories. I wish Pepsico would use this new formula for regular Diet Pepsi now. Max also gives you a nice buzz that lasts all morning. :)

I think Diet Pepsi Max could be a sleeper hit for Pepsi, getting millions of older adults that wouldn't buy usually energy drinks because of their teenage "Xtreme" image to try it.
