As part of their promotion for the new Simpsons Movie, 7-11 stores are receiving new exclusive products for sale in their stores. Among them are Krusty-Os cereal and Buzz Cola. I picked them up today and the Buzz Cola you can either get in the fountain or in a 6 pack can. They also have Blue Vanilla Woo Hoo flavored Squishee (Slurpee) for a limited time as well.

So how did the cola taste?

Never seen it

Just a thought and IMO.
Why would the existing 7-11 vender's step aside and
stay cool with "new products" in these stores.
Would Coca Cola,Pepsi not get involved in creating
special promotional products to meet 7-11 marketing program?

It's hard to beleive the soda pop companies would let their
summer sales suffer with 7-11 total in house brand promotions.

Say it ain't so Bart. LOL

All 7-11's have the aforementioned Wahoo Blue Vanilla Squishee (Slurpee), Krusty O's, Buzz Cola cans, and the Simpson's pink frosted donuts. They also have some signs and other Simpsons merchandise as well. However there are 11 more stores which were rebranded Kwik-E-Mart's and have more of a Simpsons feel to the store.

I read an article that said that companies were in fact creating special products for this promo. The article stated Malt-O-Meal cereal, and other major brands were helping in this promo. Besides, Coca-Cola or Pepsi is not going to go bankrupt if they aren't part of this promo. And I really don't see them getting upset over 11 stores doing a promo. Sorry.

LOL....Peace out.:)

Tell that to Coke and Pepsi. LOL
I bet a few of our Coke/Pepsi employees would
not want to miss 4 months of "movement" in these
stores. Bonuses are gained or lost based on units sold.
Losing a few accounts for the summer might kill their
bonuses.

The "Woo-Hoo" Squishee is "made with premium brands of the Coca-Cola Company", according to the label.

As for Buzz Cola - I'm guessing Coke and Pepsi didn't want to compete with themselves. The stuff tastes a lot like Pepsi, for what it's worth.

Awesome set of pics!

The most funniest thing is Jasper frozen in the fridge like in one of the episodes...

I paid the $3.99 for the 6 pack and cracked one open.

There is ZERO doubt in my mind that this is PEPSI.

it *IS* Pepsi. im sure of it.

What is the code on the bottom of the can? Maybe someone can figure out where is was produced.

Funny, doesn't taste at all like Pepsi to me. Has a more third-tier/independent store brand type taste to me. Almost tastes kinda like Jolt but it's been a couple years since I had it so I can't say for sure.

I can tell you that it's not Pepsi in disguise, as the nutrition info and ingredients are different, and there's no reference to Pepsi on the can. However, it does taste very similar to Pepsi, albeit not quite as good. And since the Simpsons writers have used Buzz Cola to parody Pepsi on a number of occasions, it makes sense.

And I also got a kick out of how they depicted Jasper in the fridge. I may just have to take a trip out to the NYC Kwik-E-Mart.

Same production code here in Delaware. My most logical guess is that it's Temple TX-based Leading Edge Brands. Oh, and I paid $2.99 for it here.

If someone posts the UPC of the cola, we can find out who the manufacturer is...

Well I'd post it, but when I went to look for some today, didn't have any luck. I even went to the Kwik-E-Mart in Denver. I'll hit some more 7-11s tomorrow, as I do want to try the Buzz.

Begins with 52548, the 7-11 manufacturer ID. But since 7-11 doesn't produce anything, I'm still sticking with Leading Edge as the canner.

Well I went to a 7-11 here in Fort Collins today, and they had tons of the Buzz. I just drank one, not bad. Tastes sort of in between Pepsi and RC to me.

Oh man! This not only Does NOT taste like Pepsi, it tastes like a cheap grocery store house brand cola. It has a bitter cola after taste to it. Yuck.

I picked one up last week for $2.99. Love the can, hate the liquid

This is from an article at baltimoresun.com

Pico, the 7-Eleven consultant, said that the Krusty O's were made by Minnesota-based cereal maker Malt-O-Meal, and the Buzz Cola was made by Toronto-based soft drink maker Cott.

Mr Zabe
07-09-2007, 10:27 PM
I know Cott (LOL);
And Cott is no Pepsi. LOL

I just can't figure out why South land Corp / 7-11
would want to promote products, that do not match
or exceed in quality, products at the expense
of premium profit/quality products.

Does 7-11 under estimate the tastes of it's customers?
Will millions of Simpson fans buy Buzz cola for taste or
impulse during their second or third visits?

fusion

Ok, so that would make TP Tampa FL, then.

The other two Cott codes I know are:

CV - Concordville PA
WP - Wyomissing PA

Simpson fans will buy a six pack to hold onto, maybe drink one can. I doubt taste is a big factor. I also doubt , in most 7-11s, there will be enough Buzz left for purchase during a return visit.

Yeah, I'd have to say that although Buzz Cola wasn't half bad, I don't feel particularly inclined to buy any more cans. I'm just saving the one I had as a collector's item.

Oh yeah, forgot to post one of these - one of the pics I took when I hit the Denver Kwik-E-Mart, the one that was pretty much sold out of all the Simpsons' stuff. At least they had gas, as my VW was almost empty at the time....

If you pay attention closely right under the UPC Code you can see the image of a CROWN. This is in fact the same logo used by RC Cola (Royal Crown Cola) and as a result I really think it is RC cola who makes it since it is indeed very sweet and so is RC cola.
