considering the "litros" and "azucar" - I'd say there's a good chance it is Mexican.

That's a returnable 2 liter bottle, it may be from Argentina, Bolivia or Chile, here we have 2 liter Coke zero bottles but non-returnable... but we have regular Coke in that returnable 2 liter bottle too...

A returnable 2 liter bottle! Interesting.

I think the user who posted the picture may be from Chile.

Speaking of two litres, how come here in the US Coke does not produce contour bottle 2 litres like in some other parts of the world?

1.5 liter "Smooth Serve" bottles are contour.

Thanks, but it's still not a 2 litre, which has been the same shape, well, for more than 25 years here in the states. So, again, why no 2 litres in contour shape in the US?

Just a wild guess.
Maybe it's due to the fact that
a great deal of the core 2 ltr business is
for loss leader. The extra touch of a contoured
bottle is not needed to sell a 2 ltre on sale for
89 cents. The core mass market consumer buys
2 ltrs on hot sales. If the 2 ltr bottle had boobs and
and a duck's ass on it, IMO only the one's on sale would sell.

Mr. Zabe,

If that is not the answer, I'd be shocked. That sounds like good logic.

i can't be certain. but i'm pretty sure that coke was selling contour-shaped 2-liters in ohio at one time... maybe in the late 90s. can anyone back me up on this?

I remember 2L Contour bottles in the New York market in 1993.

Coke uses returnable, refillable plastic bottles like the one pictured in Mexico, Germany, and Denmark.

Old guy mode on:

When 2L first came out in the late 70s, both majors had bottles that were somewhat replecative of their respective shapes. These went away after a few years. IMHO, simply because it was not shown that buyers in that size cared enough about it to justify the extra costs. Consider that the generic shape is, by far, a more efficient use of space.

At least two of us old timers have the same recollection. LOL

2 liters also used to have plastic cups on the bottom, they weren't really all that necessary and eventually disappeared.

I was going to say the same thing. LOLOLOL
Those cups were goofy. I used to finish the soda and
tear off the cup for fun. LOL

I think that was done because it was easier to make the bottom of the bottle round and eventually, with better technology they were able to form the bottles' bases flat ...I remember 1L and even 16-oz plastic bottles with these base cups.
