I just wanted to fill you all in. The costco I shop at is now stolking Mexican coke (real sugar) in 24pk 12oz glass bottles I think its $17.99/case. For those intrested in trying coke with real sugar this might be a decent alternative to trying to "hunt down" kp coke.

Holy crap, $17.99 is cheap! Dr. Soda sells theirs for like $24.95 ... of course, I can drive to Dr. Soda, going to Vegas is a bit further :)

So, primed with the knowledge from this board, I went to Costco in Burbank tonight and signed up ($50, d'oh!).

I wandered around the aisles aimlessly until I got to the back of the frozen foods section and there it was that I came upon ...

The Holy Grail.

3 palettes (mostly) full of God's own elixir, Mexican Coke with sugar ... in nicely sealed 24-bottle cases. 355 ml/12 oz. size, of course. On the sticker:

"Bottled under the authority of the Coca-Cola Company, Atlanta, GA
by Bebidas Envasadas Del Pacifico S.A. De C.V. Mexicali, B.C. C.P. 2136"

(Bottled right over the border in Mexicali, no wonder it's so easy for Costco to get it

And the price for this Crack ... only $17.19 a case!

Yes friends ... legal drugs for only 71 cents a bottle + 5 cents CRV and 8.125% CA tax ...

5 cases later and a 3 lb. box of Cheez-Its and I am in triglyceride and arteriosclerosis heaven!!! :D

Is the Coke in the retornable or no retornable bottles?

Made by an Embotelladoras ARCA (http://www.e-arca.com.mx) bottler!... Cool! :)

Not only do we have Mexican Coke at our local Sam's Club and Costco, but most of our local grocery stores (Smith's, Macey's, Albertson's & Wal-Mart) have also been stocking Mexican Coke for quite some time.

If you're in SC, you should be CCBCC and they should have them if they have them here - so go check your Sams. I went back and got some and they're great!! :)

I can find Mexican Coke pretty easily here in Houston and it is quite tasty but is it pretty much what Coke tasted like before HFCS? I just can't remember what it tasted like back then.

I'd steer clear of the Mexican Coke Zero. I was there for five days and by the end of the fifth day I could barely drink it any more.

I haven't seen Mexican Coke Zero anywhere in the US, they just changed sweeteners I believe, might taste alittle different

I just had some CZ in Cancun in June, pretty sure it was the new formula and I didn't like it at all.

Just wondering was it served ice cold and over ice.
A good number of us borad mates have said that
ice cold CZ served over ice does tastes great.

I was talking about "Mexican" CZ which is much different from it's US counterpart which is my favorite drink of all time!

We are now even selling these to C stores. It's mostly for Mexican Stores but if a store currently sales them and are getting them from a grocery company, we are allowed to sale them to them also.

Is any of this sanctioned by Coke or its bottlers or is this still a grey market thing?

Yeah, these are coming from Bebidas Mundiales S.A. de C.V. in new not returnable bottles with new caps and everything - sold by CCBCC and apparently CCBCU (Birmingham/Augusta/Chattanooga) as well as some CCE markets.

Thanks for the info. This seems to imply that Coke recognizes that there's a difference in their US and Mexican products.

We were actually told not to flood the market with them because of the taste difference. They're only 18.15 a case too if you buy them 5 at a time. They got into it because they pretty much wanted the business also. Our number one 20 oz account is a Mexican store, and they still sell 2 pallets a week of the Mexican Coke. We were missing that business. Not anymore though.
