I guess those are supposed to be some sort of ornaments?

Interesting that they put mycokerewards on there. I thought it was ending in a few months (the website now says 1/31/08).

i think the ornaments work for coke zero. since most of its drinkers are males, they don't want to glam it up too much. :)

I hope that's not the only holiday design.
The design seems rather depressing. My eye
keeps looking for a magic carpet whizzing across the
middle of the can. I have lived in the middle east.
Some of old houses from early on have roofs shaped like
the ornaments on this design.

usually, different brands have different designs.

I thought this was just "this promotional period" and then the next one would start?

And now I found a pic of the Diet Coke one... with bells (kinda...) BTW, the Coca-Cola holidays packaging has been released at Mexico too, basically to give you an idea, it has the same pics of the 2006 U.S. holidays packaging... I'll post pics later...

Nice find, Ramon. The background of the Classic can looks nice.

The 2007 holiday glass bottles will knock your socks off.

I found this on Ebay:

For sure it cost more to produce them but
IMO even at a premium retail price point they well
fly of the self/displays.:)

the only thing they might've done differently on the packaging is to have used the old-fashioned coca-cola script from 1899. it was a little different back then. that would've made the whole package seem more authentic.

i think this year's designs are consistent with coke's goal to make its packaging seem more "sophisticated" this year, especially for diet coke and coke zero. they're festive, but not over-the-top. i'm glad they stuck with santa on the coke classic packaging though. :)

About the 2007 special edition holiday bottles (Hutchinson style), they reminded me the special edition bottles that Coke released here a year ago conmemorating the 80 years of Coca-Cola in Mexico, I have a Hutchinson bottle too...

1899 replica X-mas bottles have show up in Boulder Colorado.

They are beutiful, and though it is the exact same bevrage, it's kind of weird drinking a fresh coke out of that straight bottle.

Bravo Coke.

The 9.3 bottles are in house for us. They came in today. We are going to sale them at 16.22 a case, and retail them for 5.99 to 6.99 I supposed. They are sharpe. There's a stand up stacker to use for a display, and I will be getting them out as quick as I can tomorrow because we only got in 1200 cases and when they are gone, they are gone...

I believe the glass bottle thing is something they are going to do next year though. We already had to forecase sales for a special Daytona bottle coming in January.

fusion
11-08-2007, 08:31 PM
Yeah, since Coke signed that deal with ISC, I can imagine they'll be doing a lot of tie-ins with the more famous tracks, like Daytona.

Mainly since they'd roll right off the shelves.

Ahh, FEMSA! But I still think the Coke from ARCA tastes a little better :).

While we're talking about Xmas packaging, I saw at the supermarket a paper skirt on the bottom of a Coke display, for 12-packs, and it was illustrated with 8-oz bottles of Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero and Sprite. I recall chatting with a CS DP/7up merchandiser some time ago.
He said that the Latino market sells sweet fruity soda pops better than
colas. I'm sure MrR can better explain. I also recall that this holds true
for the African American market as well.

I do remember about 20 years ago when I worked part time at a
friends C-Store located in an ethnic Chicago neighborhood. The customers
brought "sweet pops" as we used to called them about 4 to 1 over the
colas.

In answer to your question IMHO taste for foods and drinks are pretty much
a product of one's culture. I'm my experience at working at my friend's C-Store,
sweet low carbonated and economically priced (brands that were always discounted)
sold best.

You're right, after colas, fruit flavored sodas are the most sold here, specially the low priced ones with traditional fruit flavors, examples in Mexico are Jarritos, Caballitos, Mundet, Joya and Escuis... also Sprite, Fanta, Lift (apple), Fresca, Manzanita Sol, Kas and 7UP are very popular too...

Just bought a 6-pack of the Coke retro 9.3 oz. bottles last night ... mostly for the fun collectable factor, 'cos the product inside is still the same old HFCS crapola :(

*Sigh*. Coca-Cola Bottling Co., you had a real chance here. You could've gone TOTALLY retro with this product and made it a Coke-for-Passover type thing with a limited Real Sugar run. What a missed opportunity! (I'll only buy this one six-pack ... if they'd done a Passover equivalent I'd be hijacking the Coke truck :D )
