That's crazy. The 32oz Monster was $4, and the 16oz Red Bull is $4, that's retarded.

Its all about Branding. A limited edition RB for $4 isn't that far out of touch in my opinion. Personally I think a 32 oz ED is more absurd than a $4 16.9 oz.

Surprising departure from Red Bull's strict image. I think this means something. Red Bull is giving in...lol

unfortunatly, Red Bull has given in a few years too late. They by far still have incredible numbers, but they let loose of their choke hold on the industry, and are now doing what they can to try and keep pace. I am surprised they have not added any flavors to their line. I personly do not like the other flavors of Monster and Rockstar...way too sweet for me. But, I know they sell.

Guys, lets not forget that RB, while losing market share, is only gaining in sales. I don't think selling a Billion dollars worth of ED's is too shabby. I think RB is going to continue their dominance for a while.

Brand Dollar Sales % change Prior Yr Mkt Share
RED BULL $1,025,226,000 40.5% 35.4
MONSTER $488,157,200 59.9% 16.8
ROCKSTAR $305,481,100 44.2% 10.5

Point well made. Also, I've been seeing the Limited edition cans already popping up on Ebay. From what I understand, this is an extremely limited run of these cans, so the $4 price point seems reasonable from that point of view. Red Bull has always had some amazing athletes in their stables, it's nice to see them showing them off a little.

I by farm am not saying Red Bull sales are hurting, or that there isn't another company out there that wouldnt give their left arm for their sales. I just hate seeing that they gave up their dominance because they reacted too late to the market. All that really matters is how much money you are making...overall sales position is simply for bragging rights. It would be nice if they could still brag.

Thank goodness for Red Bull... a four dollar 16 ounce can ? That is going to make my new 2008 Limited Edition Bottles look like a real bargain!!! I love that Red Bull keeps pushing the prices higher... they have to... look what they spend on advertising each year. If people want to keep paying a premium for their advertising...let them!

As a collector the only reason I would buy one of these Red Bulls is for the can so I'm willing to pay the price. Looking forward to your bottles Sum. I always like your drink better in the bottle anyway. Got any more detail to share on your limited edition bottles?

Say you spend 100 mm to get sales of 1Billion.......that 100mm can be written down as a business expense and therefore alter your tax liability. RB still comes out ahead due to lower tax responsibilities!

It"s BUSINESS, It's all about the mighty dollar!!!!
Sum----are you telling me that you are no in this for the money? Oh Yeah, you just love real sugar ED's and had to make one for yourself because no one else had one.

Hey Scum1 !!! Yes the new limited edition bottles come out next month featuring Amanda Gift, Mandy Lynn, and Agustina. Send me an email address and I will send you the new Poster that shows off the new bottle and the new Bottle Models !!! I think you are really going to like the new bottles.

The can story.... we listened to our distributors and gave them a less expensive package. It cost a lot less to product a can than it does a glass bottle with a beautiful wrap. But as they found out the glass sells 10 times faster. The new bottles are simply unreal and for the first time we are using real photograpy of the models on the bottles.

They are still a few weeks away and we are already sold out of our first run !!! It's great to be back in glass !!!

16 oz is a bit much for me in one sitting. At least for an energy drink. I would probably stick with their 12 oz can.
I met...well, I was present at a snoboarding event a few years back that Shawn White won. BAWLS was a sponsor, and Mr. White seemed to be a very big fan of BAWLS.

WOW....real innovative packaging. I see and hear all this hype about the "CHAMPIONS" can and all it is is a regular can with some basic font and a guys signature on it????!?!?!! WTF?
How does that can, other than larger than a 12oz or 8 oz can differentiate itself as a "special" limited edition?

Man that is one lame can. Really it's just a signature can with no real changes to speak of. Maybe a gold color instead of silver would of been better. Something to grab the eye.

first off, the can has a funky look to it, but these price estimates are wrong, it was three bucks, expensive but not the four and five dollar estimates of some

I was at an account on Friday when the red bull rep was there. these are $51 a case which makes them 2.12. 2.99 iwas the price point she was telling the customer to put them at. I think it was 29% profit that she said they would make.

I seen it for $2.99 and right next to it was the 12oz can for 2.79

Tonight at a 7-11 near the MD/DE border, I picked up one for $3.49.

They had Robby Naish (windsurfer) and Travis Pastrana (motocross).

That's crazy. Apparently they are on fire though. Pretty interesting way to introduce a 16.9oz by Red Bull.

If people want to keep paying top dollar for all that advertising....let them! I find it hard to believe many will WANT to drink 16 ounces of Red Bull at one time. I know there are some but ...not me!

I dont think any 16oz can of energy drink should be more then 1.99!:D

I was looking for a thread to post this on...

Anyone else notice that the 16.9oz has shrunk back down to 16oz?
