WHEW!! I don't know about you guys but I sure am glad I didn't have to sit through crueling meetings of throwing names up against the wall to finally get to this one!!!

Seriously though,,,,I wonder why they dropped the 7up name plate. I always referred to CSAB as Dr. Pepper/7up anyway.

They should have chosen a better name. What about all the other beverages they sell?

And I guess this means Coke isn't in the running for Snapple, if it's part of the new company name?

I agree with Fusion.
The new name is confusing at best.
IMO the name should be Snapple DPC (Doctor Pepper Company),
7up DPC and so on.

Was there a press release for this name change?

About time they gave some recognition to the Snapple brand. I'm excited about the new company and the fact that the focus will be on beverages. No more second fiddle to the confectionary. Time to grow!!!!!!!!

i still wish coke would've got ahold of snapple, but... oh well... it doesn't really matter that much.

as for the name change... it's probably because "snapple" is a much more modern, popular brand than 7up. i mean, i almost never see anyone drinking or buying 7up... though i do still see it on shelves here and there.

I would have gone with something more inclusive of all the brands. American Beverages would have been fine, or something like "United Independent Brands" or something like that.

"Pepple Group" or "Snapper Group" ...LOL :D

HMMMM....UNITED Independent.......isn't that counter intuitive.......I mean, can you be UNITED while still being Independent????????????

12-17-2007, 06:35 PM
Sure you can! Just look at the USA. It is United AND Independent. :)

IIRC, RC Cola is in this company's brand portfolio. They could have went with "The Royal Crown Cola Company" or "Royal Crown Beverages." Then again, the names do lack some originality and RC Cola isn't really pushed as the flagship beverage.

I think they went with this name because it is the 2 popular drinks they have. It all so allows them to sell any of the other drinks without interferring with the name.

Lots of stuff:

RC Cola, Crush, Yoo-Hoo, Hawaiian Punch, A&W, Hires, Schweppes, Canada Dry, Diet Rite, Sunkist, Squirt, Welch's, Stewart's, Sun Drop, IBC, ReaLemon, and ReaLime

Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages > Brands (http://www.brandspeoplelove.com/csab/Brands/tabid/54/Default.aspx)

Although not listed on that site, I think Nehi is also in their product line.

The Corporation's new name, new logo and new website are now on the air...

Home - Dr Pepper Snapple Group (http://www.drpeppersnapplegroup.com)

the mexican website still has the old name and logo...

Cadbury Schweppes Caribe & Latinoamérica Bebidas (http://www.squirt.com.mx/)

Well, I can't say much for the logo, but the website is a nice refresh on the company. I especially like how all their brands are listed at the bottom and are clickable.

The mexican division of DPSG formerly known as Cadbury Schweppes Mexico changed also its name and the logo is similar as the DPSG one... now is called: "Grupo Peñafiel" (Peñafiel Group)

The reason why it's called "Grupo Peñafiel" its because the brand Peñafiel club soda is the most recognized, the most sold and the oldest brand (in Mexico) of the group...

Speaking of Penafiel, I found it at an international grocery store here, bottled by Dr Pepper in Dallas TX.
