Coke will be scrapping Powerade Option in April, and replacing it with Powerade Zero.

Flavors will be mixed berry, strawberry, and grape. Zero calories, compared to Option's 10 calories per serving. Sucralose/Ace-k sweetener mix.

Coke sure does like that "Zero" label. Then again, it seems to be working :)

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the brand POWERADE? It now looks like the brand is ZERO.
But hey COKE is a marketing machine.....they know what they are doing. I think.

Hey Fusion, when is P-Zero expected to hit shelves? And as always, can you provide a heads-up for when and where you find it in Delaware?

popologist

"zero" is practically a coca-cola brand now. i mean, i know they can't own a number, but... the more popular coke zero becomes, the more people will associate it with coke.

After I had seen this thread about the powerade I noticed a linked marketing theme..pretty clever.

I hate to be wasteful so I rarely throw anything away, but this stuff went down the drain aftert one sip.

Not to mention it looks like.. you know.

I kept shaking the bottle up, hoping the flavor would improve, but it didn't.

Powerade Zero has hit the streets in some areas already, I think we are getting it in the next week or so.

The website has already switched over from Option to Zero.

I like the Mixed Berry and Grape the best - the Strawberry is too much Strawberry for me.

Started hitting the streets in eastern Maryland today - 32oz and 8pk 20oz.

I just got back from Meijer.
All 32oz Powerade flavors including Zero
are on sale for 59 cents. Very cool deal
for all you Powerade drinkers.

As a long time Powerade Option drinker - I was interested to see what Zero tasted like. I tried each flavor and each one was not good. The grape left a subtle cough syrup after taste, the mixed berry was weird and the strawberry was extremely disappointing.

I can see what they are trying to accomplish with the Zero line of drinks, but they will not be for everyone. Why abandon Options for these? They don't taste good at all in my opinion.

Looks like I'll be switching to Propel. :(

for the most part i don't like these new flavors, and i loved powerade option....i'd like a lemon lime or lemon flavor....grape will be the only one i buy again, and thats only because option is going out.

Lemon was the weakest of the four Option flavors, so it makes sense that they dumped it. Black cherry was the second weakest, so we ended up with a mixed berry instead.

I personally think they are better than Option - no syrupy feeling in your mouth after drinking them, and the flavors are light. And I'm not a diet drinker.

Fusion,

Any specific locations in Eastern Maryland or Delaware? I checked the Wal-Mart in Elkton this weekend, as well as the Acme in Newark on Elkton Road, no luck at either one. Thanks.

The Zero's are excellent. My store had em on sale for 69cents. I had 30 cents off coupons which the store doubles, therefor a 32oz bottle was 9cents. I bought a case for $1.71 I think this will do much better than the option

Check Redners across the street for Acme.... i am sure it is there

Redner's would be your best bet, like Supra said. I don't think Philadelphia Coke has Zero yet, that's why it's not in the Acme on Elkton Road. And it's not authorized to be carried in Wal-Mart.

If you're not familiar with the Redner's, it's on 213 at Whitehall Road. From the Wal-Mart supercenter, continue west on 40, I believe at fifth light, Route 213, you make a left. There is a McDonald's and a Burger King at that intersection. Go down to the first light, make a right, and then a left into the shopping center.

Being an athlete I have had this Powerade before and the flavors they have are not appealing during sports. Thats the only complaint I have about this new drink

I was at Kroger today in my hometown in Kentucky. They had the new Powerade Zero there, but I only saw the mixed berry flavor in the 32 oz. bottles. I didn't see the other flavors or how much it cost, but then again I didn't really pay much attention to it. I didn't care for the Powerade Option they had in the past. It just wasn't that great, so I will be reluctant to try this stuff. Maybe if I can find a big bottle for 59 cents like you did Mr. Zabe...then I might give it a try! :)

What? Coke OWNS Powerade.

Oh, and an update.. Philadelphia Coke does now carry PZ. I saw it in a c-store near my house. All three flavors.

Thanks for all the info fusion, managed to find them about a week ago. They taste a lot like the zero-calorie VitaminWater clones, but the two berry flavors are alright I suppose. My fiancee says they're two sweet, but I just don't feel like they're "full bodied" enough, to borrow a beer commercial term.

My school has been selling these for quite some time. They only sell grape and strawberry. I was hesitant to buying them but then noticed that Vitamin Water (which is also sold,in every flavor) has a lot of calories. But anyways i have been buying the strawberry Powerade Zero's every day at lunch for $1.75. not very cheap 'eh? But I thing the grape tastes like cough syrup and the strawberry tastes just like jello. but I love the strawberry!!:)

$1.75 is that for 20oz or 32oz? Either way that seems pretty expensive.

just recently saw powerade zero hit the stores in my area (worcester, MA)...

..i'm actually a big snapple or tiger gatorade guy, but the no calories on the zero sucked me in...i like it and have tried all three.

one store near me had the 32 oz ones for a buck, with a buy one get one deal......so 2 for a buck was not bad..that was at a HESS.

the mixed berry is definitely the best.

do they taste as good as a regular powerade, hells no...

...but for zero calories, they go down just fine.

fwiw I get Powerade and Powerade Zero at Wallyworld for $0.60 a bottle. I take the Red Powerade and the Blue Poweraid Zero and mix them.

I find the Blue powerade zero on it's own to have to strong a taste but once you mix it with the non zero it mellows out nicely.

Not to bump an ancient thread but this stuff is showing up around NJ now, billboards around Newark Airport. Found some at Wegmans..

My review:
The Message Whore Valentine’s Day Special Love Post (http://www.78west.com/wordpress/?p=344)

It's really good, the blue flavor did not taste "diet" at all, I'd get some again. Very refreshing and would be a nice change from water during a workout.
