Have sales gone up because of the sponsorship?

This week is the first I'm seeing AMP displays. I notice there are 4 limited edition cans. Before this week most Dale Jr AMP POS material was placed with Mountain Dew displays.

Sorta on the subject.
I saw a rather skanky TV add for AMP on MTV.
It showed several gals and guys rolling out of bed after
a one night stand. Then it showed them half dressed and
looking tired, grabbing an AMP and walking down a street
getting energized.

What a nasty add.

I work for a NASCAR developmnt team in the Camping World East series and have spoken to the marketing people at AMP, they said their sales have increased tremondously due to their sponsorship of JR. They are going to send the numbers to NASCAR when they get them.. and I will post.

I don't see a lot of people buying Amp, but I sure do see a lot of people wearing Amp/Dale Jr t-shirts, hats, and other merchandise.

Yeah he is a big merchandise seller but AMP overall sales have increased due to his sponsorship.

Has sales on regular old amp, overdrive and SF increased in your neck of the woods or are your numbers showing increase including the 3 new ones? Around my parts the shelf space has dramatically increased but I really haven't noticed much if any increase in case volume, then again my routes main demographic is hispanic and most hispanics do not touch mountain dew anything. It kind of makes me wonder if there is a not so nice slang meaning to the hispanic translation of mountain dew??

haha well the new flavors are a hit to say the least..but I just got a new bigger route so we will see. Amp regular still outsells them tho.

I saw at adforum.com an AMP commercial where Dale Jr. punches a gorilla that comes out of every place where Dale Jr. goes...

I read something that said Amp sales were up 50% in the second quarter, I would attribute that to the increased visibility from the sponsorship.

Yes, AMP has gone up dramtically. Part of this is due to the Dale Earnhardt Jr sponsorship but mostly it's because Pepsi has put all of their energy drink eggs in the AMP basket, taking all their budgets, ad buys, and shelf space from Sobe and throwing all their weight behind AMP. So far it's been pretty effective. I believe they have successfully passed Rockstar and Full Throttle as the #3 ED in most markets.

Amp sales are actually up 100% over last year and i saw an internal memo that showed three new amps coming..a yellow can a green can and another can color i forgot...i know the two last ones have a green tea infusion with them..might be quite interesting.

I work for Big Lots and we have a whole skid of this crap. It does not sell and we will probably have to throw most of it away. We have sold 2 cases out of maybe 500 we received.

Yeah, the yellow can is Lemonade, one is green tea, and the other is called "Blood Shot" - I'm not sure about that one.

As far as sells, I was just looking at the newest Beverage Spectrum and it says that Amp sales are up 23.5% from 1 year ago, at $33 million.

Other notes: Java Monster sales are up 1,888.4%, Amp Overdrive sales are up 140.2%, Red Bull up 13.9%, and Monster up 21%. Last and least.. Full Throttle is down 33%.

There is a new article up on the BevNet home page that talks about the new amps:

And a Dale Jr t-shirt and diecast car for each flavor, which I'm sure will be promoted on his car next year.

Sales are ok. With the new flavors were moving more. I work in LA and there isn't much interest in Nascar in the urban areas (da hood) :)

CNBC had an interview (http://www.cnbc.com/id/27558552/site/14081545) with about that topic as well back in November that threw some interesting numbers around.
