I know Coke has dabbled with re-introducing 12 oz (355mL) glass NR bottles in a few markets. Looks like they're trying again:

I picked these up at the local Walmart here in Connecticut. They're from the Needham Heights, MA plant. Nice! And with mycokerewards caps to boot.

Fusion beat you to it in posting about those, by a couple of weeks... but it was part of a longer thread:

Oops, I did a cursory check before I posted, but did have the feeling that this was buried in some other thread.

What is the price for this 6 pack?

In that other thread, it was mentioned $3.88 at Walmart. It was that same price at a Walmart in Casper, WY two days ago. I didn't check the bottler code to see who did ours though.

$3.88 is correct. I saw them at the same Wal-Mart that BottleBoss saw them at, and at a second one that I stopped at in Virginia. The second ones were in CCBCC territory, and came from the Marietta GA (MR) plant.

This is a Wal-Mart exclusive package.

This is a Wal-Mart exclusive package.

I wondered about that. So is it being distributed through Walmart's system instead of Coke's then?

On another note, something I noticed at that Walmart I mentioned in Casper, just a few steps awy from the end-aisle Coke bottle display... They still have these for $3.98, which would be my choice if I was still drinking non-diet sodas.... too bad they are just plain bottles though. Coke's packaging is much nicer.

The good glass deli bottle. Sure do miss them. They chilled quickly and they fit
nicely in the hand. Nothing like a deli bottle of Pepsi and a red box smoke. Good old days.:)

No, they are coming through bottler warehouses.

If this is Wal-mart exclusive is it mandatory that Wally carry it? Who decides whether or not to stock it Wally or the local bottler? I have yet to see these in any of the Wal-marts I've checked.

why do so many of you prefer glass bottles? aren't they heavier?

I'll offer a few reasons why I prefer glass.
1. I grew up drinking soda pop out of glass.
2 Drinking a cold glass bottle of Coca Cola is a religious experience unto it's own.
3 Glass bottles seem to stay cold longer and maintain the carbonation better.
4 The old time soda pop machines that sold glass bottles rock!!!!
5. Eating a Chicago hot dog and sipping a glass bottle of strawberry soda pop is the ultimate buzz.
6. Glass bottles are IMO works of art.

Glass bottles are chemically inert. They are less likely to change the flavor of a drink the way plastic and aluminum can.

I don't think they are mandatory, but Wal-Mart loves it when companies make things just for them, and that is a strong selling point.

I would think your area Coke bottler would have them... ours here in Maryland came all the way from Needham Heights MA.

I saw them in a few different stores over the weekend in different areas of the store.

Charles Town, WV. All the way in the back, next aisle behind the soda aisle next to the cold section.

Lexington VA - right up front at the non-foods entrance.

In two supercenters in my area, they are just on the shelf in the aisle or on the football display.

Ouch!
I didn't fizz, I fell flat!

And yes, they're selling here for $3.88.

Woodman's also has these so I don't believe they are a wal mart exclusive.

Woodman's has everything. :)

I had heard that they were a Wal-Mart only thing.

The Woodman's that I shop at is awesome. Not only for the
way larger (variety) of their soda pop/ED catagory but the prices
are super low. Woodman's is no Walmart. Woodman's has multiple size
and brands in all it's grocery sections. On average I save at
least 30% as compared to the other grocery store I shop at.

By the way... was in that aforementioned Walmart again today, and got this picture that shows how close the Coke 12oz glass end-aisle was to the Pepsi glass deli bottles...

I saw those bottles in Wal-Mart from Chula Vista, CA, they look really great!, unfortunately I couldn't grab a six pack to home because I took an airplane... BTW they look a lot like the no-returnable 500 ml glass bottles that are on sale at Guadalajara, Jal., I bought three of these for home...
