I am in Norfolk Virginia this week on a crew drive. The one thing I notcied in the stores are 16 oz canned Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Mtn Dew. This is the first I have seen this. Is this a new package, a test market package, or what?

It could be apart of the 16oz summer promotion that Dr. Pepper-Snapple and Coke also did. I'm not sure though, some pictures would be nice. :)

Those could be what are discussed in this thread:

Sure.

I took this in my car. The top says "16oz slam can."

what's the benefit of having a 16 oz can over a 16 oz bottle?

I like look of the Pepsi and Dew ones, nice large versions of the soon-to-be-history logos.

I'm not sure what advantages there are - I don't know the cost to produce a 16oz bottle versus a 16oz can. But the can does stand out better than the bottle, in my opinion.

not to sidetrack but my curiosity has intrigued me about the cost of plastic to aluminum lately with 12oz pet bottles becoming more and more popular in the 8 pack(was 12) packagining and costing about the same retail wise..although we do a ton more volume in cans(of course).

In LAMU I was told we would never do the 99cent can like Coke and 7-Up. It's not a high MC package for us.

The pepsi one looks great, its a shame the 2 liters have the stupid multiple background crap, when the iced background is the best. And it really is 100x better than the new pepsi label coming soon.

Little back ground, I am a builder of can craft (making airplanes, car, trucks and just about everything else) I have not seen but did here rumors of larger 16oz cans coming to my area. As a maker of can craft I would like some infomation, pictures to pass along to our can builders community.

Thanks for all the help...

I thought it wouldn't happen but it did. I don't understand this. We make more from 20oz csd. Why are we selling these cans? That' means less commission if I start selling this sku. My understanding is that it was supposed to be a 99cent only store deal.

they sold IBC root beer in those 16 ounce cans at the dollar store a year or two ago. That was really good. All gone now though.
