Somebody noticed in another thread that the new 20oz label doesn't have the ribbon. i didn't even notice when the new labels came out. Now I'm wondering if this is not a good idea and whether it will come back soon.

Do people really care or will they just buy it anyway???????

No ribbon no Coke for me. Look, people are going to buy Coca-Cola with or without the ribbon. I doubt anyone looks for that when making a cola purchase.

I'm sure it's just a temporary design decision. They've removed the ribbon before (like in the late 90s) and brought it back a few years later. The current design seems to focus on the script, so there's no room for the ribbon.

That's my take on it.

Probably they'll remove it on the labels but not on the cans...

I dont like the logo without the ribbon. They did this in the late 80s and the late 90s and in the last few years on their flavored colas. Without the dynamic ribbon it seems empty. What they started in 1970 might have originally been a trend but it built equity and is now associated with the brand.

I also wanted to add that... you might not know it but the Coca-Cola script has slightly changed 10 times over the last 25 years.

Caffeine Free Coke seems to be the only one still with a ribbon, but thats because it hasn't been updated.
Also if theres no room for the ribbon (even tho the contour 2 liter did have the ribbon for a few months before it got removed), they could just make it like the early 90's ribbon and go thru the script.
I dont think its a question of whether people will buy coke with or without the ribbon, hell did pepsi lose anyone when they change their logo to that smiling thing now? most likely not.

Also heres said pic of the 2 liter when it had the ribbon. (yes thats me in the pic)

Is the ribbon gone from all Coke products now (including Coke Zero)?

I agree that I prefer the logo with the wave/ribbon, but it won't alter my purchasing habits at all. I like Coke Zero, therefore, I drink... :)

Well said.
I'm with you on that. LOL

I guess their taking this "minimalist" thing to the next level.

I haven't seen the new CZ design yet.

Aw, thanks for the pic. Hmm... I wonder why they're doing this.

Maybe they did some test marketing and found that the average consumer reached for the one with the larger logo over the one with the ribbon/wave. There has to be some research behind this. Coke is well aware that even the smallest change can affect sales by the millions.

Just for clarity's sake, the official name for it is the "dynamic ribbon."

Or they removed the "dynamic ribbon" in order to give space to the calories chart?... dude, that calories chart is bigger than the one in the mexican Coke labels!

Or they removed the "dynamic ribbon" in order to give space to the calories chart?... dude, that calories chart is bigger than the one in the mexican Coke labels! I recall that an FDA regulation has recently set a new
standard for the content of the nutrition chart on foods/drinks? I think that Mr R has
a valid point.

Found a picture of a Coke can with the same calories chart as the new Coke and Coke Zero labels... so that means that the can is safe from dynamic ribbon removal...

Contour shaped or regular shaped?... because if it's the contour shaped 2 lt. bottles they were without ribbon on its label for awhile like Coke and Coke Zero...

i bet most people don't even realize it's gone. i work for coke and noticed that the 20 oz coke didn't have the ribbon but it took about a week to realize coke zero didn't have it. I'm on the lookout for 20oz diet coke w/out the ribbon but nothing so far.

The bottles have not had the dynamic ribbon for awhile, it was around 2008 maybe earlier that Coca-Cola stopped using the ribbon on the regular issue 16oz bottles, then it went to the other size bottles.

The cans still have the dynamic ribbon, they would look very generic now without it because they removed all the elements in the current design such as the drop shadows, liquid drops and bottle icon.

Good point about the bottle still having the ribbon. Diet Coke w/Lime and Caf free diet coke still have the ribbon but probably waiting for the old labels to run out.

Does Pepsi one still use the old logo????

Does Pepsi one still use the old logo????

A bit off-topic, but yes, it does. It's about the only Pepsi product I drink anymore (other than throwback occasionally) so I keep an eye open for it. On a recent road trip, everywhere I saw it, still the old logo. :D

At the bottom of the bottle (the plastic part) is that that the dynamic "wide" ribbon or the slim one.

Thanks for posting the pic.

It seems like wide... in the case of the mexican bottles, the dynamic ribbon is slim...
