I was watching the Super Bowl ads at the USA Today website, and among them was the countdown to the Pepsi halftime show, and I found out at 0:23 this photo...

Does this mean that Pepsi will soon release a new bottle in the U.S. like in Mexico (http://www.bevnet.com/bevboard/threads/33597-New-Pepsi-bottle-in-Mexico)?

It actually looks a lot like the Mtn Dew sidekick bottles we've had for awhile now.

More instagrams... IMO this new Pepsi glass bottle looks a little bit like the vintage Squirt glass bottle, don't you think?

Ramon, thanks for those comments and images. Those actually look pretty nice! I wonder if there will ever come an update to the "Special Export" bottles that Pepsi brings into the USA. Pepsi really dropped the ball on the plastic swirl bottles - back when I worked for Pepsi one of the many bottled waters we distributed had a swirl look to it that was much more in line with the classic 1958 glass bottle than the "pinwheel" style that Big Pepsi chose to use. This new one, yeah it's Squirt-like, but it's also a lot closer to the Classic Swirl than I've seen Pepsi use since the final glass bottles that AD Heusing bought around year 2000.

I found another instagram... this time of the new Pepsi 20 oz. plastic bottle:

http://distilleryimage9.instagram.com/4b7e8c3e844411e2977522000a9f308b_7.jpg

The new label looks a lot like the new Pepsi label in Mexico (http://www.bevnet.com/bevboard/threads/33597-New-Pepsi-bottle-in-Mexico)... although in this one the Pepsi globe is not bigger than the label.

IMO the new american bottle looks so much better than the new mexican bottle.

LOVE the new Pepsi 20oz plastic bottle and the 600ml plastic ice chilled look bottle. The new 355ml glass bottle is very sweet and Pepsi needs to bring it out in the US and Canada as a limited premium price bottle sold in singles and 6-pack carry-outs. I really hope Canada is part of the new bottles release and i like the cans new look too but keep 355ml size not 710ml size. In Canada Pepsi and Coke sel a lot of 710ml bottle 6-packs in grocery stores which are becoming very popular now and quite cheap over 12-pack cans. Cans better stay as they keep soda colder than these terrible plastic bottles, glass bottles are best though expensive and heavy for shipping. People will pay a premium price for a nice sized 355ml glass bottle, the 240ml glass Coke products bottle we sell here in Canada in six-pack forms don't sell well due to their size and not price. Pepsi bring these new bottles both plastic and limited glass to us in Canada! Please!

The press release did not say anything about Canada getting the new Pepsi bottles but i sure hope we do. We have had the new MTN DEW 591ml grip bottles since early summer last year so i do not see why the Canadian plants can't do this new Pepsi bottle as it's same size but has a swirled bottom half but same top portion as the MTN DEW 591ml bottle. Pepsi Canada only has less then ten bottleing plants as well.

I found the glass bottles today. They come in a four pack and contain sugar. There is also Mtn Dew in the glass four packs. At Tops Market in Chemung County New York.

Thanks for the pics. I'll be looking for these in CA, especially the Mountain Dew ones.

Looks like the conversion has begun. The new bottles are appearing in my area starting with Pepsi. I wonder how long this bottle change will last. The last time they did a 20oz bottle change it lasted maybe 4-6 months?

I've seen them from PBV as well. Just Pepsi and Dr Pepper so far.

Finally found the new plastic bottle in 16oz size. I noticed the blue was lighter in color, almost like the Pepsi Next bottle.

Just saw Pepsi and Diet Pepsi Wild Cherry in the new 20 oz bottles (which kind of look like the 7up ones - but not as ugly) at a supermarket here in CA. Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Wild Cherry, Pepsi Max, Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Dew, and Sierra Mist where still in the older swirl bottles. The new bottles look a little smaller to me. I had to look on the bottle to see if it was 16.9 oz or 20 oz.

Honickman Canada Dry in NJ also switched to similar bottles. I like the smaller label look a lot better. I am also seeing more and more flavors of Pepsi products show up in the new bottles, but not the Throwbacks.

Throwback now in the new bottle. Only flavor I think that is still in old bottle is Sierra Mist (Salisbury MD production).

(anyone know how to insert a picture without it just appearing as a link?)

Looks like the conversion is about done here, I think only Sierra Mist is in the old bottles. They are also changing Dew to their proprietary bottle as well. PBV changed to it a while ago, PBC (corporate bottling) was still using the old bottle. It looked weird in the stores in the area I work in, the whole Dew line was in the new bottle, but Livewire (which PBV doesn't make/distribute in Delaware) was in the old straightwall bottle from PBC - the indie distributor was buying Livewire from PBC and the rest from PBV.

Wild Cherry gets a new look in the new bottle.

Saw commercials for Dew and Max recently, both featuring the new bottles.

Saw commercials for Dew and Max recently, both featuring the new bottles.
Mountain Dew has three short commercials featuring the new bottles: one with pro skateboarder Paul Rodriguez Jr with a Flux Pavilion song playing featuring regular and Code Red MD, one with pro snowboarder Danny Davis with a Queens of the Stone Age song playing featuring regular and White Out MD, and one with NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr with a Crash Kings song playing featuring Diet and regular MD. These commercials debuted during the Summer X Games (I think) and the skateboarder one got played the most. I suspect the snowboarder one will get played a lot in the upcoming winter and the Nascar one during races. I like the snowboarder commercial one the best but I like all three.
