This week Coca-Cola Argentina just released a new member of the Coca-Cola line-up: Coca-Cola Life.

This version of Coca-Cola is part sweetened with real sugar and part sweetened with Stevia (Truvia brand).

It's only available in Argentina so far.

Awesome pictures man. Kind of random, but your username/posts came to mind the other day when I found out that Mexico is one of the top soda consuming countries per person in the world(top 5 I believe). Now I see why you get some of the exclusive stuff down there.

I have a cousin who lives in Argentina and he just posted about this on Facebook. If they bring this to the US it would give Pepsi Next a run for its money (not that would be hard). I really love the look and name they gave it. The green color really stands out but you can still tell its a Coca Cola variation. No one is going to confuse this for regular or diet, and the green used is different from the green used in lime flavors. It looks really well in the Coke line-up with regular, diet/light, and zero. If Coca Cola Life tests well in Argentina, I could see it being implemented across the World like Coca Cola Zero. And I like that they chose to go with Stevia instead of aspartame, sucralose, or ace K, which have been overplayed in sodas.

One thing I found interesting is they chose Argentina as the test market, as it isn't known for soda innovations. I went to Argentina in 2004/5 and the soda choices they had were Coke, Coke Light, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Fanta Naranja (orange), Quatro (grapefruit soda), and Quatro Rosado (pink grapefruit soda - only in 0.5L bottles) from the Coca-Cola Company and Pepsi, Pepsi Light, 7UP, 7UP Light, 7UP Ice (limited edition mint flavored lemon-lime soda for the Summer - only in 0.5L bottles), Mirinda Naranja (orange), Paso de Los Toros Pomelo (grapefruit soda), and Paso de Los Toros Tonica (tonic water) from PepsiCo. Grapefruit Soda is popular in Argentina and is more tart like Italian Grapefruit Soda than like Squirt, and the Quatro Rosado and 7UP Ice sodas were interesting finds, but besides that it was just your basic core flavors down there. Mexico has a lot more interesting soda flavors/variety in comparison. Also relatives of mine told me that new sodas don't do well there as people stick to Coke/Pepsi, lemon lime, orange, and grapefruit sodas down there. Cherry Coke and Mountain Dew were both tried and discontinued in Argentina. One thing that surprised me when I went to Argentina was how good of a presence Pepsi had there, as many sit down restuarants I went to had Pepsi instead of Coke (or some had both) and even Burger King there had Pepsi products. I would say it was 55/45 Coke and Pepsi in restuarants which is a better ratio for Pepsi then up here. No fountain though except for fast food restaurants and some concession stands, many restuarants use 355ml (12 oz) glass bottles and drinks were reasonably priced with the US/Argentina exchange rate. I noticed that Coke Zero has launched successfully there since my last visit, so Coke must feel a mid calorie Coke would do well there since it has the Coke name and isn't a flavored cola. Hopefully Coca Cola Life is well executed and catches on there so we can get it up here too.

According to Beverage Digest and The Guardian, it is coming to the US and UK.

The article only mentions UK, unless I missed a spot. But I think we will get this eventually here in the US.

I didn't have an article for the US. It was just a tweet by Beverage Digest.

Full scale launch in October, very limited release coming this week. Coca-Cola Life will be available in Fresh Market stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

From The Fresh Market website:

http://www.thefreshmarket.com/view-specials/coke-life

A map and listing of all the stores that are carrying Life. They will be having sampling this weekend and handing out $1 off coupons for the 6 packs of 8 ounce glass. Life will also be sold in 20oz single bottles and 6 pack cans, usually will be in the natural/organic food sections in stores. Not sure if this "premium" approach will work, it didn't with C2.

Coca Cola life won't be out in 12 pack cans or 2 Liter bottles during the full roll out?

6 Pack cans 12 oz, like Passover Coke used to be in?

There's a The Fresh Market location in Santa Barbara about a 90 minute drive from me. Too bad their non-SE locations aren't getting the Coca-Cola Life exclusive. I guess I'll have to wait for the national rollout. I hope the glass bottles are available for the national rollout, they look cute.

Yes to glass bottles, I think that is the primary packaging.

From a Fresh Market clerk in Asheville, NC: "We can't keep Coca-Cola Life in stock, it's so popular. All of us in the store love it. It tastes like Mexican Coke." From a store manager, last Monday: "We ran out and don't know when we'll get more because of a production issue."

Great photos, thanks Ramon!

Production for the Fresh Market test is being done in Indianapolis. Not sure why they didn't do it in Marietta.

We should start seeing it everywhere on October 20. I imagine there will be a huge push behind it. You may have to look around in the store for it - it is being targeted towards the natural/organic section of stores, not the main soda aisle.

It's popping up on Ebay, a few listings for 6 pack bottles around $15 + $13 shipping. Someone from California is even selling a single bottle from Mexico for $3 + $12 shipping.

Even though it's made with real sugar? I am surprised.

There seems to be some buzz building around it, and the Fresh Market stores are reporting pretty high demand. I guess we'll see in about a month or so what the general public thinks.

I just like the graphics. I think Coke looks good in green, lol.

Really? You put four bottles down the drain rather than giving them to friends, family members, or co-workers to try? Wow, what a waste!

I would have left them on bench or table or sidewalk or something if I was you. Someone would have taken it and tried it.

Hilarious to see Pepsi copycatting Coke so closely with similar colors and marketing but people should consider that Coke and Pepsi have been copying off of each other for YEARS. Remember C2 and Pepsi Edge? Then lets go a bit further back ..remember New Coke?

Either way, I welcome some different variety approaches honestly.

..and more hilarious is only 23 ratings on amazon.

The same place that Coke gets its ideas from a lot of times. Not sure why people are surprised by these things. Your name(well the Vault part of it) exemplifies the copy cat part of the industry.

To be honest, Vault was more of a copy of Surge than a copy of Mtn Dew as its taste is more like Surge than MD, but with a color more like MD than Surge. Mello Yello is more like the copy of Mountain Dew but that has been around for years. And you can say all you want that Surge is a copy of Mtn Dew, but it had its own flavor profile different than MD, Mello Yello, and Sun Drop and that's what gave it its cult following.

Surge and Vault have the same base formula from what I was told. Just a different color and different carbonation.

I bought a 6 pack of the glass bottles, and had one warm. Didn't have much of a taste to me. Maybe it will be better cold or in 20oz (which don't come out until next month). If anyone's in Boston or further north, they have 12 packs and 2 liters up there.

I just bought a 6 pack of Coca Cola Life at the Wegmans in Frederick, MD. They are the small 8 oz glass bottles. I tried one. It's not bad, but does not have the same flavor as regular coke. I just doesn't have the same 'bite' to it. Would I buy it again? No. Perhaps a diet soda drinker would? I don't know.

Just saw it in its own display at the beginning of the soda aisle at Albertsons in 8 oz glass bottle six packs and 12 oz. can six packs for $4.99. It's not going to do well in the long run in they just have it in these sizes at the $4.99-$5.99 price range. I can understand the glass bottles being $4.99 for the novelty/nostalgia factor but not the cans. It's going to be C2 all over again if they keep this up.

The 6 pack glass bottles and 6 pack cans are out in most places in my area now. They also have them in 20oz now too. Tried it in the 20oz and I can honestly say I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought. It had a nice taste to it and didn't differ too much, to me, in flavor profile to coke classic.
